Really great service and very great stuff and Dr. Vardi is the best and very caring vet I met I couldn't be more thankful.... I brought my sunny to get neutered and the poor thing was just a little out of it when I came to get him but that's normal since he just had a procedure now he is completely healed and happy as well as I am for finding shelter veterinary they were really nice and also very throughout when explaining the at home care after the visit gave me in depth details about the medications to give my kitty very well explained they couldn't have told us any clearer so I do recommend them.
I will be coming back soon to get sunny's mama fixed along with his sisters. :-) keep the great work Shelter veterinary!!!

I have had two cats altered here and they both came through in excellent condition. They accept free vouchers and for an additional charge also offer take home pain meds, take home antibiotics, IV fluids during surgery, blood work, and shots. I opted for the take home pain meds and antibiotics as that was what I could afford. The staff is generally very nice and fair when busy, they see people in the order they sign in. The veterinarian is experienced and if you call in with an emergency he will try to help if he can but keep in mind this is a small & very busy clinic. All in all I do recommend taking your cats & dogs here, at the least for their spay/neuter surgeries, shots and regular checkups.

We're really really happy that we switched to Shelter Veterinary! Dr. Vardi is hands down the most thorough vet we've been to, and we've been to a lot of clinics over the years between moves. Not nearly as expensive as what I'd feared after moving to the LA area, and I've heard Shelter Vet is definitely one of the more reasonably priced places. They also let you go into your appointment with your dog, which was a first for me in the last few years of the pandemic. They were also able to get us in very quickly to see my pup Jillian - you can really tell Dr. Vardi and the techs care about your dog a lot, Dr. Vardi went through Jill's entire prior medical history in our first appointment and caught some thing I'd never been told about her before, it was really helpful. I'd recommend them to anyone in the area! If you have an anxious dog or are anxious yourself, just know that they are next door to the local animal shelter, so it's pretty noisy in the parking lot.

Rescued our little girl who was picked up by Animal Control living on the street nursing her 2 puppies. Tough lady who gets along well with everyone. Adopt!

I took my dog to get fixed here with a voucher from LA county. it took awhile to get an appointment but I was also getting a free service so I wasnt bothered by it. The was a little bit of waiting at drop off and pick up, but once again I was getting a free service so I wasnt upset. I was shocked by how rude some of the other pet owners were being to the front staff. Of course a vet that is offering discount services is going to be impacted, so expect to wait a bit if your doing a spay and neuter. Be polite to the staff.

I have been using Shelter Vet for over 8 years (the entirety of my Dog's life). Dr. Vardi has been an amazing primary vet for Molly. I have used other veterinarians on the westside in the past sporadically if he is unavailable, but Dr. Vardi is, hands-down, the best! Maybe 5-6 years ago, I asked Dr. Vardi if my dog needed a teeth cleaning. He looked at her teeth and told me no, the teeth looked good, and it would be unnecessary. At that moment, I knew I had found a trustworthy Vet (for reference, this is an expensive procedure -about $1k as they need to sedate your dog). Other vet offices (e.g., VCA, etc.) would often overprescribe treatments, and charge me 3-4 times what I was charged at Shelter Vet. As Molly has full insurance, it was less concerning to me, but I never wanted to worry that a vet was overprescribing unnecessary treatments (which can be traumatizing to Molly) just to boost revenue in their office.

More recently, Molly has been diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes and a mass was detected on her liver with an ultrasound. Dr. Vardi took the time to speak with me for almost an hour on a Friday afternoon, and to answer all of my questions in great detail. He also was quick to refer me to several other specialty hospitals even though some of the next steps he recommended could be preformed in his clinic. Again, this is an example of Dr. Vardi putting the well-being of my dog ahead of his own bottom-line. He also provided me with a list of questions to ask the surgeon with regards to any potential procedures.

There are many more stories like this about Dr. Vardi, and Shelter Vet, but if I listed them all, this review would become unreadable. I promise you will not find a veterinarian who will care for your pet better, or put the well-being and care of your loved-one first!

This is been my vet for three years. I know their prices are incredibly LOW compared to other vet!
Also, every year they help me prepare a document for my dog to travel internationally.
The veterinarian is very professional!
Sincerely,
Alessia

*Go here First* This is the best Vet I have ever been to. They were very friendly to us and understand of my cat's condition. Bloodworm came back in less than 24 hrs and They acted swiftly to get us in for an emergency appointment the same day. They were very communicative about expectations and timelines. I am so glad I came here. My princess is not in the clear yet but I feel good knowing we are getting her the best treatment. Thank you to the Dr. And all the staff that helped through this process.

I've been bringing my two kitties here for the past 8 years and always had good experiences. They can usually fit us in the same day if one of my cats is sick, which is greatly appreciated. The staff is always very kind and helpful and the veterinarians are excellent. They are compassionate and knowledgeable. Also very reasonably priced for veterinary services. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but that is to be expected and they are so worth it. Highly recommend this place.

Literally they have the best staff, really understanding people. I have a serious love for my animals and don’t trust them with many. I just moved here with both of my fur baby’s from VA and was so scared to find them new care. I am more then thrilled that I found this vet, they were my first option.. and I will not be taking my dogs anywhere else. Thank you Shelter Veterinary, this world needs more people like you.

We were stunned and overjoyed by the care we got at Shelter Vet on Pico in West LA. We had a really tough time finding a vet that would take us quickly with a stray momma cat and 2 kittens. We trapped them and needed to spay and neuter them so they wouldn't be in the cages too long and further traumatized. My husband, who is a physician at the County hospital said this is the County Hospital for animals, they turn no one away! They try to help in every way they can, they love the kitties, did a great job and followed up twice by phone to see how they were doing. First Dr. Vardi called me at home directly with great care and concern and then Tabitha, who did the intake and was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient with all my follow up requests for how to separate the mom form the kittens, how to transport them and how long before, if ever the kittens could be with their yearning momma again. This was a Cheviot Hills Special Ops, with 4 families involved trying to save the 3 cats. The price was unbelievable, 1/4 of all the other vets and Shelter only had room for one operation for one kitty, but made room for all to be done so as not to traumatize them with too much separation etc. We are all, 4 families, profoundly grateful and will be using them again. We highly recommend the whole outfit. We were afraid that because it was associated with the Shelter, that care might be less, but NO! It's just not so. They are wonderful!!!!

Paws, Paws, wait for it....This place is awesome!! They have great and knowledgeable folks working there. Dr Vardi is VERY thorough and will spend as much time with you as needed to assure you that your furry loved one is WELL cared for. ALL the staff is caring I do not know every ones name but Tabitha at front desk and Tony are always friendly and helpful and always make special notice of my dogs. You know that when their done doing their magic dogie medical stuff that your baby is going to be good as (almost new)!! They DO get very busy and when it is all hitting the fan they get overloaded so don't be offended if they aren't AS attentive as they can be, just know your baby WILL be in GREAT hands!!!

Sadly, we lost our baby during surgery. His tiny body did not react well to the anesthesia. My boyfriend and I would like to thank with our whole hearts to the doctors for doing the best they could for our Gizmo and making sure he flew up to puppy heaven comfortably. We are eternally grateful. 🤍🐾🕊

I've brought both of my cats here several times and continue to do so even though I live across town. After trying vets closer to me I've stuck with Shelter Vet because they're always quick and friendly and affordable. I've never had a problem and can't believe the negative reviews. They must have had a change in personnel since then because all of the doctors and techs I've dealt with have been extremely helpful and professional and caring. I can always get same or next day appointments and have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen. I'm taking my baby cat to get spade tomorrow and I know she'll be in good hands.

I love this place. I think the people here are some of the most dedicated and caring humans I could ever trust to help my cats.

During the pandemic, my kitten ended up with an illness that was fatal. They were so comforting and authentic towards me that I remember so dearly. I love this place and recommend it to everyone!
