My husband and I came to visit here as part of our Walt Disney remembered tour and I was very happy to see Forest Lawn for the first time. Forest Lawn offers both above ground and below ground plots for both burials and cremations. The cemetery is very extensive and I marveled at some of the chapels we drove by. One was the sight of Groucho Marx's funeral and where Ronald Reagan got married.

We were specifically going to see the Disney family garden which was near the entrance of the Freedom Mausoleum. Walt Disney was cremated and his ashes are stored with that of his wife, Robert Brown=husband of Sharon Disney and Sharon-(Ashes scattered) behind a memorial stone in the garden. The garden is very beautiful. Hard to believe this was his final resting place.

Not too far away we spotted the gravestones of Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor. Their names may not sound familiar to you however in the corner of their stones you will see MM3 and MMF. These two people provided the 3rd voice of Mickey Mouse and the 4th voice of Minnie Mouse.

We got to visit a little of the Freedom Mausoleum. So beautiful and such as fitting tribute to the remains of Nat King Cole and Alan Ladd. Even Clara Bow Hollywood's "it" girl has a memorial stone.

Time did not permit us to visit the museum which is supposed to house a magnificient stained glass reproduction of DeVinci's Last Supper and the hall of Crucifixion but believe me I could have spent hours here.

This is the final resting place of many celebrities including Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, Clark Gable from Cadiz, Ohio where he was born, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Michael Jackson, Larry Fine of the 3 Stooges, Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, Aimee Semple McPherson, and Jimmy Stewart. This is only a handful of names I could come up with.

All in all it is a beautiful cemetery and one that deserves the utmost respect whether you have a loved one buried here or not.

My parents and grandparents were cremated and their ashes are interned in a beautiful garden. I go there when I can and unlock the gate to the garden to place flowers next to their ashes. It’s such a peaceful beautiful place. I hope my ashes will be with them someday.

I've been coming here since 1963. That was the year we buried Grandfather "Papa Arch" in our Family Plot. There also rests his second Wife named Mer Jill, along with his mother, 2 brothers, and his daughter who was my mother.
This is a beautiful place to visit and to be laid to rest in. Always clean, well manicured, full of lovely trees, fountains, Sculptures and Artworks. When my mother passed, the staff in the main front building were professional and caring. I was quite impressed. There is plenty of available parking along the way thru the Cemetery. Every year I bring flowers to put on all 6 graves and I'm grateful that they are in a beautiful place and one that I enjoy coming to as well. Highly recommended.

Other than the obvious Celebrity grave hunting appeal, this graveyard is stunning to visit. The tombs are breathtaking and a must see for yourself because they don't allow cameras inside.😜 The lawns are manicured and clean, sprawling many miles and dotted with many other stunning buildings and statues. I could spend hours here just enjoying the scenery alone

The Crucifixion:

The Crucifixion painting, by Polish artist Jan Styka, was originally brought by Styka to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904. Because of its massive 195 foot long/45 foot high size, he was unable to display it and was forced to return to Poland without it because he could not pay the duty to take it home. Styka, whose self-portrait is seen in the painting as the figure of Saul (Paul), died in 1925 without ever seeing his painting again.

The Crucifixion was stored in several warehouses over the years until Forest Lawn Founder Dr. Hubert Eaton and his colleagues located it at the Chicago Civic Opera company in 1943. Forest Lawn purchased it after World War II and built the Hall of the Crucifixion for the express purpose of displaying Styka’s work. It opened on Good Friday in 1951.

The Resurrection was commissioned after a 25-year-long search for an epic painting that would serve as a companion to the Crucifixion. A contest was held and American artist Robert Clark was selected to create the painting. Featuring Christ outside his tomb looking towards the heavens, Clark’s work was completed in 1965.

Beautiful and historical place to visit. Many celebrities such as Nat king Cole and Walt Disney have been buried here. They also offer art exhibits throughout the year. The exhibits are free of charge.

Most peaceful place in Los Angeles and the most beautiful memorial park to bury loved ones. Unlike typical cemeteries, Forest Lawn honors death with beautiful art and prose from the Renaissance era. The feeling here is of peace and tranquility, gently reminding us all that death is to be celebrated just as much as life. Celebrities like Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Walt Disney are buried here.

Such a magical place, serene and beautiful. It is above the noise of the city, with old trees and beautiful landscapes. And it has incredible statues, including a full size replica of Michelangelo's David.
I often come here for a walk.

We went for walks there every evening. We were lucky to see Marlon and his family, visit Michael who is in the mausoleum. He motioned to me, " pic?" I said yes... he ran down and came towards us and asked to hold my then 9 mth old son. This was in 2009. Such a gentleman. Meeting the Jackson's created golden memories for us.

Highly recommend this place if a loved one has passed away! Highly Recommend Vicky Kan! After our whole family spent the most difficult time with my father in the ICU, almost everyone has painful memories and struggles. We even turned down the option of "The Last chance to say Goodbye" in a moment of heartbreak. But Vicky convinced us of the importance of seeing my Dad before cremation. Before that I just wanted to escape. I worry that my mother will feel suffocating pain again. During this period, there is no push for us to make any excess spending and option to purchase any cemetery. On the day of the spark, when we saw our father appearing there decently and serenely, they shaved his beard, tidied his hair, even trimmed his eyebrows, and put on a comforting makeup, The broken hearts of our family were soothed. The staff give enough care and respect. When we got the urn in the afternoon, we purchased the glossy bronze version, roughly resembling an iPhone screen, but touchingly devoid of any fingerprints! They are perfect in the details. They respect the people I love so much, and that's the only reason I'm finally sure I have to put the dead here. This is a responsible company that really cares about customers in every detail. I trust them.

Elegante and comfortable cemetery. Extremely well kept up. All areas are beautiful and I enjoy how there are unique feelings and aesthetics of different areas of the park. Gorgeous outlook onto the south side of the city and sunset.
