What cool views of Los Angeles, definitely worth the trip and going up top.

We weren’t able to look out the telescope, but that is definitely something I’d plan to be there early for if you want to see it.

There are a lot of people, patience is definitely needed.

This really is a spectacular place. It’s a must see on your list. The grounds and museum are free, planetarium requires paid tickets, you can purchase on premises. The museum itself is very expansive with many exhibits, could easily spend a few hours here. Plenty of staff and volunteer workers who are friendly and knowledgeable. Many outdoor terraces to see the city below, also hiking trails in and all around if wanting to walk around. There is a cafe as well. You can pay to park $10/hr at the top. I recommend free parking in the lower grounds and taking the bus, busses run frequently. Check the times for the telescope 🔭 you’ll want to be sure to get a look through

Griffith Observatory

A must-visit spot in LA! The views of the city skyline and the Hollywood Sign are simply spectacular. Whether you're into astronomy or not, there's something for everyone here. Plus, admission is free, making it an affordable and enjoyable outing for all.

We stopped here for the view and a walk around the observatory. We did not pay for any extras.

Parking is $10/hr but we were lucky - parking meters were all out of order and we did not have to pay! Lucky day!

Even if you do not go in, if you are visiting the area for the first time, as we were, it is incredible. The view of LA are incredible. A must stop for all tourists - just be prepared to walk! You’ll be parked very far away!

Definitely worth going to at least once. Beautiful views, nice exhibits (the weigh yourself on various planets was pretty neat) and the planetarium show was very lovely. live narration with a very soothing voice - dangerously close to putting me to sleep if it were not so fascinating.

Highly recommend either taking transit ride share to the top or you can just hike to the top - parking situation is ugly close to the observatory. Get there early - the more the day goes on the more crowded it gets.

Griffith Observatory is a wonderful place to explore cosmology and learn about the stars and planets. The iconic building is an architectural treat. It has views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign. It has become more of a museum than an observatory during the daytime, and great for novices to the exploration of the night sky. They do host night viewings and other activities that are fun to explore if you have the time. Parking can be tough and you may have to park a distance from the Observatory...but it is worth seeing at least a couple times.

This should be where you start your hiking adventure when visiting Los Angeles. The panoramic views from the summit are stunning and the entire family can take part in this fun exercise. And yes, there is that boring old Observatory if you have enough energy left to visit after hiking. Parking is limited near the Observatory and your best bet is to use the Greek Amphitheatre parking lot and take the free bus up.

Nice visit with the kids, free entry except for movies. Paid parking. Plan for a few hours as there is a lot to see and learn. Was enjoyable for both children and adults. Also get a nice view of Hollywood sign/hills.

We hiked up from the Dell Nature Trail, short hike up the hill, great way for the observatory to slow come into view as you hike up the hillside. Steep in some areas but the kids were up ahead and made it no problem.

The observatory is outstanding and worth it to visit. It can be busy, but it is L.A., would be strange if it wasn't. Has big capacity and there was lots of exploring to do.

Did the hike up to the lookout points as well, amazing views of the city up there. We were up during the day time, would be great in the evening too.

A must-see California landmark, with a lot of opportunities to learn. The exhibits inside are always worth a look. When I was there, it seemed to have plenty of parking and it wasn't very crowded, but it still required at least an extra 20 - 40 minutes to account for parking and finding your way. Be sure to take in the sights and enjoy the outdoor area - in addition to the building and exhibits itself. You won't find too many better views in the L.A. area - day or night.

This is a must do free (general admission) activity in Los angles. I parked the car in lot G and walked about 10 minutes. The Greek parking is free when no show is happening. I went around 3 pm and spent until the sun down so was able to see light and night . Both are incredible. Nice view of the hollywood sign. There was no limit for people, so expect a bit of a crowd.

This is one of the most beautiful places in LA. The staff is great, and opportunities to learn are amazing and the telescopes that are set up with staff allow learning that is unmatched. If you’re visiting or even a resident and haven’t gone yet do yourself a favor and go check it out!

There is a show you would need to purchase tickets with. Get there early to get them especially the last of the night so you don’t miss it. It’s $8 for students.

Amazing views of the city and Hollywood hill outside the observatory. Lots of interesting items and information on astronomy on display inside the observatory. You can walk around the observatory at your leisure. Entry is free unless you want to visit one of their exhibitions. Must visit if you are in LA.

Griffith Observatory impresses with its stunning design, offering breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the starry sky. The interior exhibits provide a captivating insight into astronomy and science. What makes the visit even more remarkable is the professionalism of the staff and the fantastic guides, making the tours incredibly engaging and memorable. Adding to this, the entrance to Griffith Observatory is entirely free, and there is also a complimentary shuttle service for convenient transportation to this unique location.

Who would visit Los Angeles and not make a trip up here?
This place has the best views of the entire city by far! The scientific stuff inside is just a bonus. You can learn so much here in an afternoon. There is something here for everyone. We visit every year and I still find something new each time. If it's not on your LA must see list get your life together and redo your list!
