Amazon Delivery

Let me begin by saying that Amazon is an incredibly convenient way for my to get my classroom supplies each month and I have been a prime customer for a LONG time. All that to say I am so sad to now have to consider no longer ordering because the delivery drivers cannot seem to follow explicit directions. I have an automatic note set on all my packages that says to deliver packages to my side door and yet time and time again, no matter how many times I call to tell them, they continue to deliver packages to my front door. Yesterday on Christmas Eve, my niece’s gift got stolen and I have nothing to give her today because you guessed it- the driver didn’t follow instructions. I called amazon and they verified that 1) it was delivered by their own delivery service and not by fedex or ups so the driver should have seen the note, and 2) they just offered me a refund or to have the item redelivered but could not come up with a solution to ensure this doesn’t happen again. The only thing they could think is to call me when the package is delivered but even there, I work with kids and cannot always answer my phone (and shouldn’t have to) which will likely mean I won’t be able to reiterate simple directions and hence, will lose another package. It really shouldn’t be this way where I have to be so nervous every time I order from amazon especially considering that I spend easily between $1500-$2000 a year on the site.
