One of my favorite places to buy prepared sushi in the West side. Considering inflation, the prices are great and the flavors and freshness is excellent. After 7pm sometimes you could get discounted sushi made in the morning which I recommend to save. The sushi rice is made in Japan. I also recommend the hot yams which they keep toasty!

This market is great for finding Japanese specialties. There are customers that walk out of this store with multiple bags. So many items appeal to me that I sorta got lost in the moment. You’ll find everything that you need for your Japanese cooking. You’ll also find snacks and noodles, which is my personal favorite. There are more than just that, and the prices on most items here are pretty affordable.

This is a great place to stop for lunch and pick up a meal, grocery shop or you can take a minute to explore. The first time I walked into the market, I felt welcomed. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable so you can always find someone to help you.

The to-go food offers many choices catering to all types of lifestyles. I've had sushi and the hot dishes. Both of which were superb. Which so much selection, there is always something new to try.

I've also purchased meat here. It's a smaller selection than other stores, but the quality was high (and reasonably priced). There is also a fresh produce section and a frozen section that is full of options.

Overall I had a basket full of great food selections and new items to try my first time shopping at Marukai. I go back weekly and look forward to the shopping experience.

I was looking for a certain brand of Japanese shampoo, and Marukai has an outstanding selection of personal care, cosmetics, household, and cooking items. This is in addition to a wide range of Asian foods, fish, sushi, and bento box fresh meals prepared daily (in the refrigerator section). Love that I can find most of my Asian grocery needs in WLA, without having to drive downtown to Little Tokyo or Chinatown.

Great place to get Japanese goodies and foods! Always get Japanese sweet stuffs! Oh has lot of parking space as well!

I love going here for things not sold in American stores. It's the best place I've found to get Thai chilis, and several types of mushrooms and fungus, as well as glass (sweet potato) noodles. I always love their variety of beautiful kitchen ware, bowls, etc.

Love it! It's been awhile since I've been in the market. It has so much the people who work there are helpful and they have a ton of snacks, so fun to go explore and find things to try that you never thought you'd get a chance to. Great market!

Omg lets just say. This place is a hidden gem stone. Never expected to find this place existed until I kinds noticed it from the corner. Got closer only to find out this wonderful gem.

I really love this market, the quality of all products,great variety of frozen food, vegetables, fruits, treats, snacks, lunch boxes, drinks, sake, etc. Very friendly and helpful staff highly recommend this market

One of the best Japanese supermarket in west Los Angeles. They have a variety of Japanese items to select from. They also have a 20% off discount event everyday at 7 (sometimes earlier) for bento boxes.

I love this Marukai location because it's located in West L.A. and away from the large crowds at the Marukai in Little Tokyo. You will also find some of the things here that can possibly be sold out at the Little Tokyo location on weekends. I think I started visiting this location in either 2016 or 2017 and I have never had problems here whether it be employees, other customers or the security guards. The Marukai in Little Tokyo has it's share of unprofessional employees and security guards. Keep up the good work. I know the lack of Japanese imports is due to high shipping costs in the last 3 years or so. Some of the imports all Marukai markets had in 2016-2018 started disappearing once 2019 came around, and 2020 didn't help at all. You now have to go online to get Japanese imports that Marukai used to sell but online prices are ridiculous right now. I am satisfied with what I find at Marukai right now. 🛒

I love white peaches 🍑 this place has wide selection of white peach drinks. Today I chose a soda.
Their rice crackers are amazing!
Ready made, meals and snacks are a dream..

One of the best Japanese grocery stores in LA! I personally prefer this place to Nijiya in Sawtelle but it’s just up to you... I like Osouzai, pre-made food, at Marukai. So much variety to choose from. Be careful tho, they are closed temporarily.

My personal favorite Japanese market. It's near 2 others but it is better. The staff are wonderful and more personable than the one to the south, The sushi varieties a little broader than and less expensive than either place. All the sushi is 20%off after 7pm, and it's generally a better selection late in the day than the others.

Such a great place to explore new Chinese cuisine. First place I've found bean sprouts and amazing fresh sushi and super healthy meals! Also, very cool Asian gadgets.

Lots of authentic Japanese foods and great sake. Awesome coffee & tea drinks. Also food cooked to go and ready. Heritage high end pork, potstickers etc....

Wish they used less styrofoam and plastic. But overall this is my go-to place. They sell out of stuff quickly. They have a good selection of specialty produce, organic options like miso which is very hard to find, pillow soft bakery items, tofu (including the locally made brand in Gardena. I don't remember what it's called, but it's a soft spoonable artisinal one) pantry staples, sauces, kitchen tools and gadgets. I'm not into the bento boxes because of the heavy use of meat. Lots of products that are actually made in Japan. Overall, I feel super lucky to have this in my community and have made a lot of delicious meals with the items I bought here.
