What a fabulous hotel! Really nice old century feel. Great location right on the CalTech Campus. So cool!

Nice place to have a gathering with friends. The buffet was simple but good enough.

This was for a memorial lunch following a funeral. Did not stay here. Food is always excellent here but you do have to be a member or guest.

We went for a wine tasting event and dinner. The buffet was wonderful with many choices including prime rib, crab legs and carved meats. Delicious salads and a nice selection of deserts. You have to be a member to get in, but you will not be disappointed at the meal you have.

Haven’t been back for a while, but the service is always great. The quality of food and special activities during holidays are main reasons for getting a membership here. Used to come here for breakfast a few days a week, and the service was always very attentive and welcoming. You pretty much can ask the kitchen to make anything anyway you want if they have the ingredients. Since the bill is changed to the account monthly, this was my go to place when I forgot my wallet.

The Athenaeum says it all. Athens being the Greek goddess of wisdom. The architecture is simply beautiful with the high ceilings and and yet the richness of warmth to the rooms. The wedding reception held here was excellent. The staff were at the ready to remedy any need. Being one of the few rainy cold days in southern California, the reception had a drop down partition where there were quiet blowers to keep the space warm and dry. A very fantastic venue.

Our waiter Manuel was terrific!!! Their Cuban sandwich was the best I have ever had…and I’ve been to Miami! Alas it’s membership only.

Excellent dining and surroundings are very classy

This building is very nice. I only went here with my patients family for work. They went to honor a friend of theirs that writes children's book. I was just an extra guest but I got to see a little bit if the building. Very detailed paintings of their former presidents. Staff was clean and very well mannered. Apparently it's a hotel too if anyone wants to get a room. Used by their former presidents they have nice suites.

This is a members only club. To attend you either need to join or be invited by someone who has a membership. They are back open indoors and outdoors. The menu is not quite up to pre-pandemic snuff, but the preparation is still very to notch. The portions are not large, but they are about perfect. The service is always special. The wine selection is great. They also have specialty Scotch, Whiskey and more. Their beer selection is good even if it is almost all bottled/canned currently. A wonderful club. Also a picturesque place to have an event.

This is a private club, so you need to go with a member if you aren't one. Delicious food, including buffets, every single visit. The wait staff are professional; they are discreet and friendly. Gorgeous interiors and outdoor seating.

The food is so good here! The steak tasted better than a lot of fancy steakhouse with a more reasonable price!

Beautiful building, great location, excellent culinary options and helpful employees. I've eaten here a few times now with my husband and family, we are never disappointed. Eating outside is always a nice experience too.

Great Christmas buffet, probably 5 tables of different food and dessert.
Have a little history of going here with family around Christmas time. Sign up for a time slot shortly after labor day. This year we went at winter solstice. Always dark and chilly this time of year, people dress their best, take photos around the Christmas tree and on the steps inside and out.

I once got my meal here and I'm amazed by how good their foods are!

I briefly came home to visit my family for a 90th birthday celebration that was held at the fabulous Athenaeum in April of 2019. We all had the best time. I've been coming here for awhile for Christmas parties and other celebrations and they never disappoint. The food is five star, beyond good! The staff is friendly and so helpful. The building is rich of history and is absolutely beautiful. This place never disappoints. If you are looking for lovely surroundings and excellent food, come to The Athenaeum. You will love it! Thank you for yet another amazing experience that I always enjoy with my favorite people!

Beautiful venue for a wedding. The space was gorgeous and the staff friendly and professional. The banquet style food was incredible! Delicious carvery, grilled veggies, salads, miso cod and chicken. Thoroughly impressed.

Strongly recommend if you need to be at Caltech for a couple days. Very comfortable and convenient. Gorgeous building. My only complaint is that weekday breakfast starts at 7am and there is no way to get coffee prior to this time (no coffee making equipment in room). Also note you need to be a member or have a member book your room.

Beautiful place. Members Only club on the campus of Caltech in Pasadena. There is a Restaurant and Banquet rooms for Events. Also Guest suites for visiting Dignitaries and Members. Also used as a filming location for TV shows and movies
