Stephen Michael is the real deal! Never have I ever worked with a stylist who is so detail oriented, knowledgeable, brilliant, creative, genuine, and just so highly skilled.

He took my hair from a sad marigold multi color yellow bleach job (not a good look) to a creamy, beautiful beige blonde that perfectly complements my skin tone. No matter which light I’m in, the color is perfection. He also maintained the strength and integrity of my hair which means so much to me.

He is much fun to talk with and you just know when you walk in that he knows what he’s talking about, he will deliver what you’re looking for and you’re going to have a blast in his his chair!

His salon is so cool, fun and unique, cozy and welcoming. My husband and son have been seeing him for years now for haircuts and I wish I had started with him sooner because I couldn’t be happier! I cannot recommend Stephen enough! Pictures to follow!

I have been looking for a new hairstylist for several months. I tried 3 other stylists during this time. They were all nice but my cut was just off. Today I had an appointment with Steven Michael. He gave me a excellent cut and I couldn't be more pleased. This is the best cut I have had in many years. It was very easy to schedule an appointment through his online schedule option. I have already booked my next appointment and I'm so glad I found his shop. He is pleasant and professional and really knows his stuff. If you're looking for a new stylist give him a shot, you won't be sorry.

This man is unbelievably fantastic! A while back I was searching for someone to cut my husband’s hair that
1. He would feel comfortable with and
2. Could understand how to make my husbands ideas reality. I scrolled for a while on google and found Stephen!

After talking with him for less than 5 minutes we were sold!

He is a phenomenal human, with so much knowledge and experience under his belt that every conversation is beyond interesting and fun. And as an added plus, my husband actually pays attention to what he recommends (which is a miracle in, and of itself!)

He is truly a master of his craft and I cannot express enough how grateful we are to have come across him!!

We adore Steven Michael. My husband and I are so happy with the quality of his cuts and color. The man is passionate about hair! He knows more about it than anyone I've ever encountered, enjoys sharing the "why" about what he's doing, and is a serious pro with scissors. His one man shop is tucked away on wooded residential property in Edgewood. It's a quiet, calm atmosphere for this artisan and his craft. I hardly leave any reviews, but everyone that needs to know if it’s worth your time going to Steven I just gotta say YES! He is worth your time and $$! He not only gave me a great Haircut but he teach me A LOT about my hair! My husband also goes to him for his haircuts and we trust him 100%. Steven is a brilliant stylist. Not only does he understand what cut or color looks good on you, he knows the science behind everything he does. A year ago I moved to Texas from Washington and I work my trips back home to try and coincide with needing to get my hair done. He's that good. I've been to 3 stylists in Texas and each time I flew back to Seattle for Steven to fix my hair. You won't be disappointed.

I'll mimic another review I see for Steven Michael for Hair. I hardly leave any reviews, but he is worth your time and $$! He's an artist. He not only repeatedly gives me great haircuts, but he teaches me A LOT about my hair! My wife also goes to him for her haircuts and we trust him 100%. We love his work.

I haven't had a haircut this good in years! He KNOWS about hair design and how to best design hair for your head and face shape. Steven is an artist and is definitely worth the money. If you're not sure just yet, just go for it!

Steven Michael is Edgewood's hidden Gem right now. Tucked away in the rural feel of Edgewood, down residential streets and then a turn to a gravel driveway you drive past the first house second guessing Google Maps, but then you see the intimate, two chair, one room Salon? Barber shop? I'm not sure what you'd call it.

Then you meet the man, Steven Michael, who is this kinetic and kindred spirit that's so easy to talk to it's as if he was already a close friend you haven't seen in a while and you're catching up with one another. His business is fairly new (I live one street down and had no idea it even existed!) at the moment, with little to no advertising yet, so I was able to get in a last minute haircut at 6pm on Saturday Evening, which is usually near impossible. I have a feeling that won't last though. Even though the business is new, Steven is a seasoned veteran, with some 37 years in the business (I think, I hope I got that right? Sorry if not!). And it shows.

This isn't your run of the mill buzz n shampoo done in 15 minutes haircut place btw, even if you're like me - a 40 yr old guy with a simple look in the midst of some MPB. Steven is far from just a hair stylist, the dude is a frickin' Artisan. You'd think he was Michelangelo working on the Statue of David with the attention to detail he gives to your hair. He was able to make me look like a somewhat normal guy - with hair! It was hands down the best haircut I've had in like 20 years.

Snapped a couple of pics of his place, as well as a before and after of me. The neckbrace was because I was having surgery the next day, so one is of me trying it on pre haircut, then actually wearing it post haircut (and surgery).

Oh, and he does waaaaaay more than just Men's haircuts. He has a huge long list of things I've never even heard of. He said his clientele before he moved back here was mostly women actually.

Steven is a game changer! A true artist! I've never loved my hair so much. The color and cut is spot on for my face shape, skin tone, and age.

All I can say is wow. Steven is absolutely incredible. He has done both my husband's and my hair. He gave us both incredible cuts. He styled my husband masterfully and taught him all about how to manage his long hair. Then, I went in with a mess of multi-colored hair and Steven took his time and gave me a look that so perfectly suits me. As a lady, I would 100% recommend him. He is the best person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and trusting with my hair! 10/10

Since moving to Washington a year ago, I’ve gone through several different stylists and barbers and hadn’t found the right fit. I’ve been trying to grow my hair out and the barber I visited prior completely ruined all the progress I had made, which made me apprehensive about seeing someone new. All of that anxiety melted away within 10 minutes of sitting in Steven’s chair. He spent time getting to know me, made sure I was comfortable and took his time inspecting my hair. He has a real gift in analyzing your hair type and facial features to give his expert opinion on what hairstyle would work best for you. I was blown away that the suggestion he gave for me was EXACTLY what I was looking for… and I hadn’t even told him yet what I wanted. He’s so methodical with every cut he makes, explaining what he’s doing and why. My hairline has started to recede and he had so much advice for me for care and styling to help me look my best. Saying I’m a satisfied customer is a massive understatement. I have NEVER felt so confident after leaving a salon. He’s gained one very loyal customer which may turn into two because I think my wife wants to see him next! Thank you so much!!!

Steven did an amazing job cutting my hair. I’m not one who has a sense of style, so when he asked me what I wanted, I told him to do what he thinks is best for me. I was very impressed, he really took his time analyzing my head and choosing a style that looks great on me. I appreciate the little amount of effort I had to put in to get a great cut! I will definitely be going back and will let him do his thing (since he knew my head better than I do myself). Thanks again Steven!

Steven is amazingly talented and passionate about hair style and hair color. I have been his client for almost 20 years. He is always learning his art and teaching you what you need to know about your hair both color and style. It is a wonderful experience to “sit in his chair” and get your hair done beautifully and expertly. Not only that but Steven has a positive and inspiring attitude toward life and he just lifts me up every time I see him.

Steven is an extraordinary human being with tons of talent and experience. I not only adore him as a person, but the care and expertise he puts into his work is truly magical. Expert level hair analysis and design, taught me things about my hair that I never had fully grasped or understood. Only after one session I couldn’t recommend anyone more than Steven!

Fantastic haircut. Steven is passionate about his work and does it with great precision and skill. He took the time to teach me about my hair and its particular needs; which was extremely interesting. It very much felt like a custom haircut, and his space is very inviting and clean. Absolutely recommended.

I believe in miracles! And his name is Steven Micheal! I can not believe how he restored my hair to whole! I had a hair issue that spiraled out of control for weeks, I literally had orange, red and green tones. Steven had the most beautiful spirit and gentleness to guide me to correction without judgement, just the solution. He educated me on hair care through out the process and I am beyond thrilled my shiny, healthy, and beautifully shaped new hairstyle! Vibe is everything and I thank you for our journey!

Steven would not only be your favorite barber but your favorite person as well! He brings a lot of experience to the table and he would give you tips about your hair that you won't hear anywhere else. He is also very genuine and down to earth which is why he is one of my favorite people to be around!

I attempted to dye my hair a burgundy color this past week and failed badly. I ended up with hot red roots (see picture down below) and was freaking out. I found Steven Michael online and gave him a call and told him everything that happened and he scheduled me for a free consultation so he could see the hair and discuss how he could fix it. I set my appointment the next day and I will just say it was unlike any other appointment I have ever had. He has so much knowledge of hair and coloring and is very passionate about what he does. This hair appointment felt like very much-needed hair therapy. He first purified my hair which I never had done before but it was very relaxing and made my hair feel BRAND NEW! I now see why he must first do this to the hair before working on it. He Was able to give me a solid hair color! A beautiful rich plum Burgundy color (after results down below). He got rid of my horrible hot roots. While he was working on my hair he discussed every product he was using and used quality products. By the time I was done I was sooo in love with my new hair! It was shiny and full of life again! I’m honestly grateful for my hair mistake because I was able to meet Steven Michael and left his shop with a new perspective on my hair and the products I use on it. I will be returning for future services! I highly recommend him for any hair services! Thank you, Steven Michael!
