We finally found a home church after years of hopping around. Pastor Sam is a wonderful, practical, inclusive, welcoming, and unafraid pastor. He will speak truth to power. He will push for his congregation to do the heavy work of learning and unlearning. This church is new but has amazing visions for the future. We love the people - all ages, backgrounds, race, ethnicities who show up (right now, virtually, though we did have an amazing outdoor safely distanced Easter service). Feels like a small slice of LA and even the kids love being here. Great caring teachers w good kids’ programming. It’s still a small and slowly growing church so it’s easy to plug in and get to know everyone. We enjoyed doing some of the enrichment classes too, from finance to Daniel fast. Virtually we did a 40 day lent journaling activity. Most of all, I think the sermons and worship are an honest time with God. It’s not a nightclub turned concert heavy church with light shows and black light live art installations so if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s not that. I’ve had a lot of personal and intimate shifts with God here and I feel very at peace and at home.
