El Cholo Café Pasadena

In town for a convention and the hospitality and family atmosphere of this place is just what we were looking for! The staff is very friendly with lots of excellent recommendations. The bartender is passionate about his craft and teaching interested patrons. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Huge Mexican restaurant. The portions are big and the food is delicious. Great place for a big party.

Great place! Love the food, the decor and the occasional 2-piece mariachi traveling the restaurant isn't bad. The bar is very small so it can fill up fast, but the bar tenders really make you feel like you are at home. They are knowledgeable about the different tequilas and even organize the tequilas by the special for the day. Also had the tortilla soup and it was the best I've had in LA! Oh and make sure you get the table side guacamole.

We were welcomed by the staff and seated almost immediately. They gave us the option of patio or inside. The kid's plate definitely looked bigger than a plate for 2. The food was delicious and definitely coming back!

First visit to Cali and this was my first meal. It was an awesome experience. I'm from Texas and it was a nice surprise to get fast, friendly service along with a pretty tasty meal. Chicken tortilla soup and Enchiladas Suiza. (I think I spelled that right) Thank you for a terrific first experience visiting.

Great food great atmosphere the fiesta platter alone can feed a family of four. Very enjoyable with great service.

Chips & salsa were a great starter, and the entrees ranged from enchiladas suizas to beef fajitas and combination plates. Our only complaint was the albondigas soup, which only had two albondigas, but our waitress brought out some extra albondigas, which was much appreciated.

I was expecting delicious food and great tasting drinks from this place. That is exactly what I had. Their Cochinita Pibil was my favorite and their nachos were delicious with a huge amount of cheese.

I love this place. The food is great and everyone is friendly. It's a little slow sometimes, but this is one of my favorite places to eat.

Came in on a Sunday and had to wait about 5 min to get a table. The portions are very big so we ended up with leftovers. The guacamole is delicious! They make it right I front of your table.

This is a wonderful place to unwind with friends after a cultural activity. The food is delicious; the service staff is friendly and accommodating. The decor needs a little updating to improve the ambience.

The food is delicious. A little pricey but what do you expect nowadays? Going out for anything is pricey.

This place was exactly what we needed after many hours at the Convention center for Cat Con 2023. We were all exhausted, starting and dehydrated! Lol Levi, our server took such good care of us! We got everything we order quickly and correctly. The portions varied depending on the dish. My friend and I split the app platter for 2 and it was smaller than we thought it would be. The nachos we almost non-existent. Just a handful if chips on some beans with salsa and the sour cream and guacamole scoops on top that made the chips soggy but the beef taquitos were really good.

The highlight of our visit was the service. Our server Levi took great care of us. We didn't have to wait for things, he kept our waters full which was a challenge because all four of us were thirsty. It was about 90° that day and the temp in the restaurant was perfect. They weren't blasting the A/C. It was cool but not cold. Levi also gave us waters to go as we had more walking outside to do! We were so grateful!

I've been here a number of times and each time, the one thing I have to get, no matter what, is the table-side guacamole. It's just too good to pass up, and can be made to your taste.

This place can usually have a wait of a few minutes, but the last time I went we got seated right away. I was bringing my sister in law as she's never been and I wanted to share with her.

Overall, the place has great food, the service is fantastic, and everyone is friendly. I'd recommend this place if you're craving Mexican food and maybe for a birthday celebration, or date, etc.

Very good!! We just had coffee and the Fiesta Platter. Both were excellent. Service was friendly and fast. Worth a visit!!

Great vibe, finally experienced seasonal green tamales, a new taste sensation for me, refreshing strawberry 🍓 margarita, rich albondigas caldo, hope to return soon.
