The Derby

We celebrated Valentine's Day this year at The Derby and enjoyed the experience. We ordered the French onion soup, which was amazing. So much flavor, though it can feel a bit salty at the end. We also had the roasted tomato burrata. It was so good with the garlic bread. The appetizers itself could fill you up, so go easy on the appetizers so you have room for dinner. My husband ordered The Mike Smith which is a prime bone-in ribeye. He had to search for the bone because it was so small and there was a whole lot of ribeye. I wasn't too hungry after finishing the appetizers so I didn't want to order a steak. I went with the penne a la vodka and the chicken was not dry. There was still enough for lunch the next day. I'd come again to try the other dishes.

Parking: there's valet in the front but there's also a self-park section if you drive towards the back. Just make sure you read the signs, since they're a little faded.

A local favorite! Always a packed house, staff on point. Everyone is prompt, kitchen and servers work in harmony. Food is fresh, delicious and the entire experience is noteworthy! A definite favorite to impress or celebrate!

First time dinning here, and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent the food was delicious! The atmosphere was very pleasant gives it old Hollywood vibes for a nice date night. I had their 3 course dinner with the bacon wrapped filet minon and shrimp scampi it was amazing the meat melted in my mouth! Highly recommend this place.

Enjoyed The Derby for the first time, celebrating my wife’s Birthday and experienced not only great food and service, but a lot of history and horse racing culture as well. May it be around for the next 100 years!

I've driven by the restaurant many times, and I finally decided to stop by. Since I didn't want a big meal, I sat at the bar, best seats in the house. The service was outstanding, people watching was entertaining, but most of all, you could feel the hospitality from the locals and workers. It almost seemed that everyone knew each other on a first name basis. I had the iceberg salad, sticky ribs, and bread pudding 💯 recommend. Will be coming back for a full dinner experience.

Vintage steakhouse with great atmosphere and food. Service is always impeccable. Would have given 5 stars across the board if a couple of the cocktails we ordered came in the proper glassware.

The inside is a little too old and dark for my taste. Our server Bobby was amazing. The food was amazing. I'm not a fan of the wild rice. Mine was a little bit too hard. Everything is al cart. Would I return? Probably not. Beautiful Christmas decor.

Delicious steaks and desserts in a comfortable, relaxed setting. This legendary Southern California restaurant did not disappoint!

Wonderful experience for anniversary! The food are legit and I loved their prime rib!

Their Dine LA specials of $65-75 are the best. I ordered the Prime Rib with a baked potato, a Caesar salad and a bread pudding. I ate every bit of it. Including 2 slices of their cheese bread on a Sunday 6pm reservation. From the moment we valeted the car, to the last bite of dessert, I was out the door in about an hour 10. Incredible service and food without having to sit forever. Obviously I wasn't being rushed at all. Other people around me were there before and were still there when I left. The prime rib is juicy. It actually tasted better and better the more full I got. Lol. It comes with a small tin of au jus, and another of horse radish. All classics. No weird spin on it. Just how I like it. I wished the baked potato was bigger, but I'm a big eater. My wife did not touch her dessert at all, because she wanted to finish her 8 oz filet mignon, and to her it was a lot of food in-between the salad, steak, and side. Our waitress was attentive and I never had to ask for a refill for drinks, to go box, or anything else. The host that sat is was friendly and introduced us to some interesting facts about the derby that we hadn't known about even tho we had been there many times prior. All in all.

I’ve been going to the Derby since I was a little boy. I have so many fond memories of this place. I moved away years ago but was able to go back yesterday with my wife and family. I love their steaks and the baked Alaska is incredible! So much fun

Best dinner at a restaurant EVER! Great food, drinks, and staff! We had the Chateaubriand for two x 2 - 2 couples.

We celebrated a retirement at The Derby and it was the perfect place to do so! Great ambience, terrific food and our server, Spence, was so attentive, I wish I could give him 6 stars.

The restaurant itself has the feel of a different era with rich, dark wood, ambient lighting and a great bar area if that's more your style.

It was my first time but definitely not the last!

Three great courses for lunch. Outstanding food, service and atmophere. I will be back soon.

Wow! Come here for the Happy hour. 1/2 off great apps. Fried calamari is a massive plate. Shrimp cocktail... MASSIVE... old school historic environment. Only downside is VERY expensive. Check out the menu but I think a cup of soup is $14 and a cheeseburger is freaking $28 ... I can get 1,000,000 In and Out burgers for that

Celebrated my sons birthday, had a wonderful evening, food was delicious, service was excellent.

Had my Birthday celebration with 14 of my friends, the room they put us in was cozy, elegant and private. We all loved it! The food NEVER disappoints the ambiance and service always wonderful.. thank you for making my Birthday Celebration most memorable!

Had the most lovely dinner as part of the Dine Arcadia event. The food was magnificent and the service was top-notch. I cannot pick a favorite course, but the famous baked Alaska was the cherry on top of a great dinner.

Our two waiters were great. One was a little old lady who was like a mom. She mixed up my baked potato with the butter and sour cream and was VERY thorough. I felt so loved 😍. They gave us a complimentary baked Alaska for dessert because it was my friend's birthday. So nice because it was on fire! I would go back again.
