Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

Stayed a few nights here and everything was outstanding! Really cannot think of one thing that needed improvement (or we had an issue with). Service from the staff: excellent! Room/bed/housekeeping: excellent! Location: Double excellent! Just an amazing property!! Will certainly be booking here again next time in Monterey!!

I didn't stay in the hotel or use the spa, just visited, but it's a lovely location on cannery row, there's a tiny little beach beside it down the stairs, and a large outdoor patio area that overlooks the place and the sea, where you can often see otters and other wildlife. The area has galleries and coffee shops and other little businesses that are very fun to walk around and check out. There are outfitters ready with equipment to take people sea kayaking from the little beach, and the VIP state room has house many impressive guests, like Bill Clinton. It's just very pretty. I didn't use the restaurant but I've heard good things.

The absolute best hotel in Monterey! Totally worth it. The service is amazing, the staff is so welcoming and accommodating. They go out of your way to make sure you are comfortable.

The hotel itself is beautiful on the inside - gorgeous wood details all over, and the lobby is very inviting and comfortable. The view is incredible - big windows looking out on the ocean. They always have live music in the evening, with the bar open and the fireplace going. So nice to be able to hang out and enjoy this without having to leave the hotel.

Our room was great - the view was beautiful, we had a harbor view with a balcony. Plenty of room for the four of us with two queen beds. They went out of their way to make our child feel welcome - they brought an Explorer Kit for him, which was really cool! He loved it. We purchased a kids robe & the little sea otter plush, and they had it ready and waiting in the room when we arrived, along with a sweet card written by the hotel staff just for him.

We checked in early and our room was ready, which was a nice surprise. The hotel manager came and checked on us when we arrived, which was very nice. The concierge was super helpful and facilitated the purchase of our aquarium tickets.

The cleaning crew does an amazing job with the rooms - tidying up during the day and then again during turndown service in the evening.

The spa is the best - amazing views, beautiful fireplace and hot tubs. The gym is super nice, and the locker rooms are impeccable. Beautiful space with all the amenities, and such friendly staff.

Schooner's was amazing as usual - delicious food, friendly staff, and beautiful views!

Beautiful and convenient location. Mattress was more comfortable than our Tempurpedic at home. We did not get the “Welcome Wine” bottle when we checked in, but we were offered glasses of wine after request. Thank you Matthew 😉

We stayed for one night and everything was great! The room was clean and comfortable. We didn’t have time to use their hot tub but it would’ve been great for the cold weather.

Location couldn’t be better since it’s so close to the beach and it’s a short, pleasant walk to the aquarium.

Tidal coffee had some delicious breakfast options and really great coffee. We enjoyed our food and coffee with the great ocean view. It was quite chilly tho.

Valet was so busy when we checked in, so we opted to park at San Carlos Beach parking, which worked out well. Would come back next time!

Highly recommend! One of our favorite hotels on our PCH road trip. This is the second time we’ve stayed here. The last time was 6 years ago & this time was even better!
The service is fantastic & the rooms are impeccable. You must get a bay view room! Tidal (coffee shop on site was great!)

I am a local to the area. Lost power and stayed at the hotel. From checking in to restaurants, gym, etc. the staff is above outstanding! I cannot thank Hillary the guest service manager enough! The hotel is beautiful and takes the stress away! The rooms are beautiful with coffee makers, water, desks, and listening to the waves is a bonus😀. Thank you Hillary and thank you Monterey plaza hotel team!! Roxie, Is a great waitress at schooners! You are the best in the business!!

Our room was spacious! Very quite, very clean, we had a street view and it was fun to people watch and see the small restaurants, some of them we went to. :)
On-site coffee and breakfast spot that overlooks Monterey Bay. Hotel lounge and entertainment plus vallet parking. We didn't use the spa because we only stayed one night. We will be back to take advantage of all of their amenities. Within walking distance of cannery row and the aquarium. Private beaches great atmosphere and vibe. I highly recommend.

This is a fantastic hotel with an excellent restaurant in a great location.
The room was comfortable and the service was impeccable.
Turn down service was prompt, in room dining was quickly delivered and delicious.
I was here four nights and I will definitely come back.

Everything you could want! Most comfortable beds, with the sound of the ocean off the balcony , it doesn't get much better than this. Room is big and clean, and the bathrooms are beautiful. A 5 star experience!!

Totally impressed with the service and incredible attention we received during our stay. It was our first time visiting and will definitely be back. It’s a great hotel for family with kids or even a couple wanting a getaway. The views are amazing and can’t forget to mention that the food quality and taste at the restaurants onsite were incredible. Can’t wait to be back!

First time here - planned a 4 day 44th anniversary getaway - reservations for Costal Kitchen dinner and Sunday brunch - definitely a 5 star hotel
However after a bad first night (heart issues) I went to the front desk and explained I had contacted my doctor and he wanted me back home asap.
The entire stall (valets-bellmen and the people at the front desk) could not have been more concerned and helpful to get us on the road, the front desk canceled both dinner reservations in the hotel along with one at the Sardine Factory.
Will definitely return once I get my health issues under control.

Hotel is lovely. Several great restaurants on site to choose from, too. The only complaint would be the cold shower. Front desk said the boilers are slow to warm up in the morning. My 5am shower was certainly eye opening. However, it was clean, there were a pair of binoculars to view the ocean, And the in-room Nesspresso was super nice.

Fantastic hotel. The room was very nice, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Great location on the water. The free shuttle was a nice service.

Monterey Plaza Hotel has the most beautiful ocean views, excellent restaurants, live music, spacious rooms, and a full-service spa. I highly recommend for the location and great service. Valet parking only.

This hotel is by far our favorite, after staying at two others, Monterey Marriott and Portola Hotel.
LOCATION: This hotel is literally next to the ocean, so the vibe and views are just breathtaking, much more memorable than the others. Also, if you have kids, this is closer to the aquarium (7 minute walk if you take the bike path), and there is a little beach right underneath the hotel. With the other two hotels, you’d need to cross a major streets to get to the beach.

ROOMS: if you like views, then I recommend the ocean view, partial ocean view, or harbor view room, instead of an Inland View Room. Because it makes a big difference to be able to peak out of your bedroom window any time and see waves, otters, sea birds….and to be able to fall asleep to the soothing sound of the ocean. The Harbor View has more people watching and ocean view. The ocean view has more up close sighting of marine life, like sea otters and sea birds. The Partial Ocean view (in photo) has the hotel blocking one side of the view, but still has plenty of ocean, and is the best value among the 3 types of rooms

AMENITIES: there is nightly live music in the lounge. For Christmas there are Christmas trees, a train and gingerbread display, and Caroling from 4-6p. steam room, sauna and hot tubs are on the 5th floor adult only Spa. The two kids hot tubs are on the 2nd floor - and if your kids love hot tubs, you can get an Inland room on 2nd floor with a patio walking right out to the hot tub.

This hotel is very beautiful, the staff goes above and beyond for their guests. Service is fast and friendly not to mention the location alone is right above a little beach area. Close to many 5 star restaurants. They have free bike rentals to explore along the beach. They offer free rides to any restaurant nearby. I could go on and on but instead I’ll be planning to book another stay here for next year !!

The best hotel to stay in if you visit Monterey. Beautiful view from the room. Amazing amenities with rooftop hot tub, spa and sauna. Absolutely enjoyed our stay.
