Gateway Lodge

Check-in was easy and staff was nice. My room was very clean. There is plenty of parking and a lot of places close by you can walk to.

We had an amazing stay. Very clean rooms and friendly staff. And pretty much the best price point we could find. I feel this is definitely the best bang for your buck. Very close to all the attractions we wanted to visit, including the aquarium and downtown Monterey. We will definitely stay here again.

Extremely friendly, and dedicated staff. The staff at the front desk are always very helpful, very friendly, and very dedicated to each and every guest that walks in to the office . Wether your checking in with or without a reservation, have a question about your stay or about the area, or even if your asking for towels or toilet paper, the staff is always so helpful and makes sure that every guests needs are met and they are 100% satisfied their entire stay.

Hotel clerk is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Cleaning lady is very attentive. She makes sure you have everything you need. If you need help cleaning your room she will attend you right away.

fantastic hotel!! incredibly clean, staff was super sweet ❤ they did housekeeping twice or more a day to make sure everyone had what they needed. perfect location if you want a pleasantly priced motel in a great area close to all of monterey’s hotspots.

I would definitely recommend Gateway Lodge to friends that want to stay in Seaside/Monterrey on a budget. The location is so close to a ton of commercial & local businesses.

What I loved most was that the beach is within walking distance (or just a short drive away.) From check in to check out, everything was satisfactory and swift!

This motel exceeded my expectations. It was very clean, comfortable, in a good area - short distance drive to Monterey, had good wifi and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a family room with three beds and it was very spacious. I really liked the texting feature! As you get close to your booking they send out details by text and you’re able to communicate with them by text which made it super easy when we planned to arrive after the original time expected. I would stay here again if in the area.

Very nice motel for the price! :) Owner was very nice, rooms were a lot cleaner than we expected for the price. Comes with basic necessities: TV, mini fridge, microwave, table, AC (worked very well!), bathrooms (which were very nice and clean especially for the price!) and cozy beds. A lot of people complained about smoking in rooms but management has fixed that issue with no smoking signs in each room and adding a smoking area outside so our room smelled completely fine! Definitely a very great budget motel in Monterey!

It was a beautiful location close to everything. Beach 15 minutes walk and restaurant and grocery stores are just across the street or a 5 minute drive.
Everything is around you so just Google and you'll see. Panera bread is great. Lucky is awesome for grocerys.

The room was clean and the linen was nice, great TV channel selection and also room was very big and the area felt really safe.

I'm giving this five stars because of the excellent customer service I have received. I booked third party, and upon having last minute emergencies, I now had an extra room I no longer needed. The third party platform made it difficult to do a partial cancel and get my refund, and, really, the hotel owners had no reason to work with me and the platform to process it correctly. But they went through the hassle of the third party platform to make it happen. Next time I would book directly on their website gatewaylodgeseaside.com

The room itself is adequate. Comes with a TV, mini fridge, microwave, a medium sized table, and bedside tables. Nothing to complain about!

Despite how inexpensive this place was it was a gem. It was so clean, nice and all of the workers were so welcoming. I left my wallet behind and they were so nice to immediately call me right after and let me know. It was such a lovely experience and I recommend this place to any and everyone. Would definitely come back!! :")

The Gateway Lodge Motel

First let me just start off by saying that this establishment sure isn't the Taj mahal. And the outer perimeter / appearance of Gateway Inn isn't exactly very easy on the eyes haha 😂🙃.
But aside from those few small areas that are in some need for improvements that is what they are currently correcting/upgrading. I imagine it will take some time but once it's 100% remodeled it will surely continue to be THE SPOT to Book & stay on all of freemont Blvd strip for any occasion & needs.

WHY? Great location, Ritht off highway 1(.2 of a mile) Unbeatable rates that can be flexible, there's a full service gas station across the atreet, a top notch family pizzeria next door (gustos) & Lastly for the adults that just wanna relax & unwind on the exact other side of Gateway there's a liquor store (old terrace) with all sorts of amenities and services such as check cashing, cigars, western union, snacks/food for our convience. And let's not forget about the entire huge shopping center directly behind it!

So in my personal experiences, the PROS greatly exceed the CONS. 100% No Brainier!

need some improvement

Very nice motel for it's price. It's a 1960s building, but recently renovated. Ample parking and a court like setting. Includes TV, microwave, fridge, and hair dryer. Obviously above a Motel 6. My room had a queen size bed and a small table with two padded chairs. Even the shower has nice tiling. Note - my matteess was extra firm. I wasn't given a choice at check in so anyone else checking in should ask about that detail.

We had a great experience and stay at the Gateway Lodge. First and foremost the managers Ila and Andy are very kind and professional. To our delight the rooms are updated and very, very clean! The furniture had ample room for my pregnant wife, there is a refrigirator and microwave and there are restaurants and stores in walking distance.

Our experience was tops and we definitely will stay again!

I have been staying in this motel for a bit. Management is amazing very kind and professional. Rooms are clean staff is very friendly as as well. Definitely worth your money.

The staff at Gateway Lodge went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Staff were friendly provided exceptional service. The rooms that we booked were modern and very clean. It was quiet at all times and close to restaurants and shopping. I travel for work and pleasure and would not hesitate to stay at the Gateway Lodge with my husband and children when I return to the area.

Stayed on a Sunday night. Room was really nice and clean for the price. The lady running the front was super sweet. Thank you for having me.
