Spindrift Inn

Really wonderful experience. Service was great. Location is so perfect. And the rooms are beautiful and large. The in room fireplace is such a nice touch and one we definitely utilized when I got a little cold at night. They have a rooftop garden, which is perfect to watch the sunrise. Valet and Front Desk are all extremely helpful. There is a complementary continental breakfast that you order the night before, and they bring up to your room at a designated time that you marked. nothing too filling but we are light breakfast eaters anyway so for us it was perfect. The rooms are quite spacious and the wraparound benches near the windows are so quaint. We really had a lovely time and will definitely stay again. The location is also perfect, close to a lot of attractions, and for anyone looking to stay active it’s a few minute walk away from a trail that goes through Pacific Grove. Perfect for morning runs.

We absolutely love it here! The corner room has a window seat spanning the full corner of the room for Bay watching, indoor sun bathing (Feb. when we were there) and perfect breakfast nook! The rooms are nicely appointed and the staff bend over backwards to make your stay wonderful. Nightly "social hour" with wine, cheese and crackers, h fruit tray in the lobby. Great for getting to know your fellow vacationers.

Hotel is beautiful, historic, and possibly the most charming room I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. This is a place to bring a good book or a project and cozy up in front of the fireplace.

The only thing is we are traveling for an extended time and the laundry services are unavailable to us because of the long turnaround time (it’s Monday and we were advised we wouldn’t be able to get laundry returned before we check out Friday). I don’t know if this is usual but it is a smaller inn so fellow travelers—plan accordingly :)

The staff was amazingly kind, professional and customer care oriented. The room was immaculately clean and well cared for. The staff from the valet to the front desk clerks to the night auditor and maids were outstanding. Tina, the Hawaiian ancestry night auditor was engaging and truly caring of my needs and the needs of my USAF Veteran Service Dog, Cody's needs. I didn't want to leave for my medical appointment at the VA Medical Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. The Inn is in the heart of Cannery Row and a SUPER value.

Just returned from an amazing stay and our first time at the property. Looking for a romantic getaway the Spindrift did NOT disappoint! Gorgeous views from our ocean front room with a cozy fireplace. The staff is amazing and the wine/cheese reception was great as well as the breakfast in bed! Quiet and serene it was fantastic and can’t wait to go back!

One of the best hotels I’ve been to. Nice staff, GREAT ocean view room, you get slippers and breakfast to your room. Definitely recommend and worth the price

We had a great stay in one of their ocean front room. We were there for three nights and the room was clean and comfortable. The fireplace was cozy and opening the screen less windows to the ocean put a smile on our faces. Breakfast brought to your room every morning is a very nice touch. The best part of the room is the amount of wild life that you can see from your room. It keeps you staring out to the ocean. Let’s not forget the roof top patio. Great views and patio furniture for your lounging pleasure. Monterey is beautiful and so are the views from this hotel.

Spacious room has a quality, old time feel and a lovely view of Monterey Bay. They provide binoculars that are great for watching sea otters and seals. Our room had a working gas fireplace for heat. Parking is very limited, valet parking $35. The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. For the complimentary breakfast, they deliver breakfast to your room, which is lovely.

They recommended the Lalla seafood restaurant next door, but we found that the dishes were too heavily sauced, obscuring the delicate flavor of the seafood. We had a much better meal at the Fish Hopper, a short walk away. The area includes many interesting shops and has access to a small beach so you can dip your toes into the Pacific. There's even a Ghirardelli's Chocolate shop, complete with ice cream where we enjoyed a non-dairy hot fudge sundae.

We would definitely go back to this hotel if we're going to be in the area.

Very beautiful hotel, and the location is amazing. I also can’t forget to mention the quality of service there, unparalleled to services received at other hotels of that price range. I will definitely be back soon!

This is the best hotel at Monterey where a room with the direct sea view won't cost you a small fortune.
We keep staying at Spindrift every time we come to Monterey.
The hotel building is rather old (nearly 100 years old), but it was renovated around 2010 (if I'm not mistaken), so it is fine in terms of comforts.
Hotel provides you with a continental breakfast delivered to your room, but it is very very basic (though alternatives are all pretty much Mexican-style breakfasts, which are heavy on calories).
They also have a daily happy hour with wine-cheese-crackers for the guests -a nice prelude to your dinner in one of very good local restaurants.

This hotel is amazing! Excellent location, comfortable beds, peaceful on the ocean! Staff is very sweet and accommodating.

Right in the center of Canery Row the Spindrift Inn had to be the best Hotel I could've ever stayed in. With a gorgeous view of the ocean and a very cozy feeling in the hotel room it offered a very relaxing experience. Ordering room service from the restaurant downstairs was also very convenient and quick. The food was amazing (the Jumbalaya and Cesar salad with Calamari) was such a great meal! On top of the view and the food the hotel room provided a really comfortable bed to sleep in that made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud. The hotel room also had a fireplace and a nice TV which made the experience so much better! I would recommend this hotel to anyone that has ever thought about coming to Monterey and wants to have a really special experience!

Lovely and cozy. Decent breakfast and happy hour every day (included in the price). Staff is super attentive and the location is amazing. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

Really cool hotel and they have free wine and cheese spread. What!?!?! Staff is really friendly and they offer early check-in services. Basically, you can drop off your car and baggage early. Saves the parking costs if the plan is to visit Cannery Row anyway. If possible book a room facing the water, worth it!

You have to be looking for things to nit-pick about this place. We had a wonderful stay in July. Being from Florida, where July is just the pre-heating for the hell that is August, the weather here was truly perfect. We sprung for an ocean view room, and it was money well spent. I spent my spare time tucked up in the window seat watching otters and birds and an occasional seal play in the little bay outside the hotel.

Yes, the crowds are sometimes noisy or stinky (smoking), but in the early mornings and late evenings, it's peaceful if you don't mind sea bird noises. I loved falling asleep to the waves and birds and buoy bell, then waking to the fog shrouded sea.

We loved that you could walk everywhere from here. We enjoyed the nighly free wine/cheese and in-room breakfasts. The room was excellently appointed and stayed at a perfect temperature.

Spent a week in Monterey with my daughter. Room was beautiful and service excellent. We wanted for nothing during our stay. We loved the balcony and fireplace in our room. The staff is kind and tends to every detail. We enjoyed the walkability of the location and the view, but it was a bit noisy and touristy—minor issue on an otherwise outstanding stay.

Our second stay at the Spindrift. Located in the center of Cannery Row and right on the waterfront. Pictured is room 410 with a street view. The bed is super comfy. Decent wine and cheese reception in the evening and continental breakfast delivered to your room in the AM. Well worth the visit.

The staff are always kind and considerate. We came for my birthday and they upgraded our room from cannery view to ocean view. They coordinated a fresh rose and chilled champagne in the room upon our arrival, along with two little heart shaped chocolates.

Everything was clean and tidy and the fireplace plus the sound of the ocean makes my heart happy!

Complementary wine and cheese in the evening, and a pretty view from the rooftop - just be mindful of the seagulls as they have no shame!
