Holiday Inn Express

We stayed four nights at this hotel. Staff was friendly, rooms were always nice and clean each day, and a great variety of food each morning. They also had my favorite breakfast seating out of many Holiday Inns I have been in. Nice and spread out. I loved the layout of the hotel. The location was great and we could walk to so many places. They had remodeling going on but it didn’t affect us at all. We would definitely stay at this location again if we came back to the area.

Room was clean, everything was in working condition, bed and pillows were soft, there was filtered drinking water, hot water, coffee and tea available 24/7. Free parking was handy. We absolutely loved free breakfast. Staff was courteous and helpful. We had everything I needed. Good hotel location.

I loved how close the hotel is to Cannery Row. There is a nice pathway, which only takes about 6 minutes to walk. The room was updated and clean and the beds were comfy. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. And the hotel had good continental breakfast options that were yummy. The only two complaints I had were about the size of the parking garage and the responsiveness of the hotel before I arrived. I have a large SUV and found it hard to park it in their small garage. Also, I was a bit frustrated because I had emailed the reservations department before my stay with a question and they never responded.

My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. The friendly service provided by the staff was outstanding, making me feel warmly welcomed throughout my visit. The rooms were not only clean but also comfortable, providing a relaxing environment.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its prime location. Being within walking distance to Cannery Row and the aquarium was a huge plus, allowing me to explore these attractions conveniently. The combination of great service, clean rooms, and a fantastic location makes this hotel an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful stay in the area.

Nice hotel in a great location! Our room was newly refurbished and had an updated sink, fixtures, etc. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Hot breakfast had lots of choices (made to order pancakes, eggs, etc.)

I had an exceptional experience during my recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Monterey. Having stayed in various hotels in the area over the years, I can confidently say that this was one of the best experiences I've had. Right from the moment of check-in, Ben (I believe he is of Albanian origin) greeted us with a warm and friendly demeanor, making us feel truly welcome. His delightful and helpful nature added to the overall positive impression of the hotel.

The cleanliness of the rooms was impeccable. Not only were they spotless, but they were also thoughtfully stocked with Dove shampoo, conditioner, and an abundance of shower towels. It was a pleasant surprise to have four towels available, as many hotels only provide two. This allowed for a refreshing end-of-day shower and a separate one in the morning, enhancing our overall comfort during the stay.

Moreover, the hotel's location was fantastic. Situated in a highly walkable area, we found ourselves leaving our car parked in the garage for the entirety of our stay. Speaking of which, I must mention that the parking facilities at this hotel surpassed my expectations and were superior to those offered by many other hotels in Monterey.

Overall, my experience at the Holiday Inn Express was outstanding. From the warm welcome by Ben to the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms and the convenient location, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable stay in Monterey.

Room and location was very quiet and had zero trouble sleeping. We could the ocean (and sea otters!) from our room. Room was very clean and had everything we could need, except unfortunately no microwave. Different types of pillows (labeled FIRM and SOFT) was very accommodating and bed was very comfortable. Generous 12 PM check out time.

Great location, close to Cannery Row and Aquarium.
Walking distance to ocean. Room was clean and very comfortable. Entire staff was very friendly. Breakfast spread in the morning was very good, except the omlettes, didn't really taste like eggs. But plenty of other stuff to get full on. Will definitely be back next year.

Great comfortable rooms. Convenient location; walkable to attractions. Breakfast bar is good, but awkward seating. Short stairs throughout hotel corridors.

This hotel not only has an amazing location, a super wonderful stuff, it also is very well laid out. All in all one of the best nights rests I've ever had. I would highly recommend this Hotel for it's a great location but once you realize how welcome the staff makes you feel you won't want to leave.

We were so impressed by this hotel. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The room was super clean and comfortable. We had a king size bed with a sofa bed for our kids. Both beds were comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance from coffee, shopping, beaches and tourist destinations. Overall, a great place to stay. Very very happy!

Staff was friendly, funny and gave amazing information on the area.
The hotel itself is clean, breakfast options were great.
Only complaint is the front door to my room had a gap between the frame and it brought in quite a lot of cold air.
AMAZING location. Hungry at 2 AM? Walk the 3 seconds up the street to the 7-11. Want dinner? Walk another 3 seconds in the other direction and you'll be met by multiple restaurants. The aquarium is also just a 10 minute walk.
I felt extremely safe and secure, even at night!
If I ever come back, I will absolutely stay here again.

Excellent location at Monterey bay near Cannery Row. Staff is friendly and breakfast is decent. Only thing is some sewer smell in the washroom. Garden located in the atrium of the hotel rooms. 24 hr coffees and tea is very good for a drink in the cool night weather. Guests can drink or hang out in the garden patio furniture which is good.

I have to say, the location of this HI is perfect. While it isn't on Cannery Row proper, it might as well be since it is so close. It was an easy walk to the aquarium and to all the shops on Cannery Row.

The breakfast is way better than most hotel free breakfasts, with eggs, pancakes, sausage, cinnamon rolls and more. You can actually fill up and save some money feeding the family at the place you are staying. Not having to pay for a family of four to eat breakfast in Monterey easily saves you $50-$60 a day.

The rooms are nice and spacious with all the amenities you need: fridge, TV, iron and board, coffee maker, safe, king size bed with cozy sheets, etc.

Overall this place isn't extraordinary, but for the price and location it is wonderful. I have zero complaints and we got a great two nights sleep here with the family. Highly recommend.

Place is pretty decent. Only thing I didn't like was some floors had stairs you would have to go up and down in order to get to your room. If you have lightweight luggages, then no problems! This location has a great view no matter which room you are staying at. Their courtyard is cozy and great place to hang out. Wine and cheese around 5-6pm, free breakfast in the morning, not too shabby!

Excellent location, walking distance to canary row and aquarium. Next to trail for walking running and biking. Hotel itself is very clean and bed is comfortable, as always the high standard as of Holiday Inns. The staff are super friendly, definitely the hotel I will always use when taking weekend excursions. The breakfast was pretty reasonable but not much seating so I suggest to bring food back room. The parking understand is narrow, if you have big car, might be bit pain. But again, these are just minor, compared to all the good stuff.
