The Sanctuary Beach Resort

Great place to relax stayed two nights and never left the resort. Room was recently renovated still had a new house smell. Views are awesome and the overall would highly recommend. Staff, Service,and food all great. If you want to un plug for a few days this would be a great option.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort in February. Upon arrival, we were delighted to find that we had been assigned one of the recently renovated rooms. The room boasted elegant wooden flooring and homely furniture that immediately made us feel at ease. The shower area was spacious and well-designed, adding to the overall comfort of our stay.

One of the highlights of our room was the breathtaking beach view, offering an unparalleled vista of the ocean that was truly a sight to behold. It’s worth noting that the resort is undergoing extensive renovations to upgrade other rooms as well, indicating their commitment to providing guests with top-notch accommodations.

The resort’s cart service deserves special mention for its punctuality and convenience, effortlessly transporting us from our room to the lobby and back. This thoughtful service ensured that we could navigate the expansive resort grounds with ease.

One of the most memorable experiences during our stay was the bonfire evenings. These gatherings provided a fun and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the stunning sunsets on the beach, allowing guests to mingle and share their experiences.

The resort has one restaurant on site with lovely ambience and is close to many other restaurants and shopping centers.

In summary, my stay at the resort was nothing short of perfect. The combination of a beautiful setting, exceptional service, and a wide range of amenities made for an unforgettable.

Beautiful property, extremely serene, soft spoken staff, beautiful rooms. Being a hotelier myself, I love to check out the room amenities. Thoroughly impressed by the Linen & Terry quality and comfortable duvets.

We went to Saltwood for some oysters. You have to go inside the resort to visit the restaurant. From the outside, we could see the resort was clean, modern, and was right on the beach.

Excellent experience in their newly remodeled rooms! Everything was perfect from the food and drinks at Salt Wood to the Suite to the beach!

How have I lived in the Bay Area for 30 years and never heard of The Sanctuary?!?! Stayed here with three out-of-town friends this past weekend. I was the planner for the trip and I looked at SO many properties and am so glad I chose The Sanctuary. We requested two king suites close to each other and were upgraded to kind of our own two-suite location right on the sand, ocean right outside our patio. The rooms are lovely, very clean and well appointed. Top shelf toiletries in the shower and bathroom.

We had dinner and brunch at the Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette and enjoyed it very much. There are bikes available to use which we unfortunately did not have time for. Also didn't get a chance to participate in the yoga on the beach in the morning but what a great activity to have available.

We had a small mix-up with our billing (due to our error in using our two breakfast credits properly) and the issue was resolved quickly and a credit given. We also left a jacket behind and quickly received notice that it was found and given the opportunity to have it mailed back to us.

I only wish we had stayed longer than one night at this beautiful, peaceful resort property, but I will definitely be back. A perfect location for a "staycation" for us the next time we need a break and don't want to travel too far. Highly recommend The Sanctuary! The photo I've attached is steps from our room. I supported two corporate offsite meetings at The Sanctuary in September 2023. The hotel staff is INCREDIBLE! They are very kind and super attentive to any needs that your group may have. They are very responsive and everything was on time and excellent. The Sanctuary is a great place for a team meeting (beautiful grounds & great rooms).
Highly recommend The Sanctuary for your next business meeting.

I went to this resort in mid-May and this place was the best! They even have golf carts that transport you to your car and back.

Parking: This place has a big parking lot, and it is often that most of the spots are available. So the parking is good.

Customer Service: The staff are very nice, and they like chatting with the resort guests.

Best Part: The staff are friendly, lots of activities to do here, and also there are lots of good restaurants nearby! There is a long street nearby called Reservation Road and that street has lots of good restaurants.

Worst Part: There are a lot of crabs.

Tips/Recommendations: Try their hot chocolate with 2 Nestle Chocolate packets!

Return: I will!

Saltwood Kitchen is the place to be on Friday night with live music featuring brass solo musician. Bar is surrounded the burger and oyster grill with oak woods. Ambience is fun and lively with impeccable service. Grill masters cook burgers and oysters to perfection. Will be back this hidden jewel in Marina.

First impression was jaw dropping! Beautiful and comfy lobby with spacious hang out spots, the staff is VERY accommodating, even the janitors on site were so sweet. The room was very clean and cozy, our favorite was our private patio with the ocean view! Lots of activities during the day then at night we sat around the bonfire as we watched the sunset with other families! The restaurant on site was perfect, we got a lot to eat/drink and there was nothing we didn’t like! It was all great! Woke up to breakfast in bed before we put an end to our mini vacation. We have found our go to spot! We never even had to leave the property everything you need is on site. We will be looking into having our wedding here 2023💗

Pros - Great resort!...Quiet, clean, beautiful ocean views, AWESOME staff, room service, prompt and friendly shuttle service, huge bathroom with 2 pedestal sinks, separate toilet area, fireplace in the room, which kept us nice and warm on those cool nights, and well-maintained grounds.
Cons - no nightstands next to the bed in the deluxe ocean view room, which I found odd, but the staff quickly found us bedside tables. Also, there was no dresser to place your clothes in, but there was a huge open area in the bathroom with no hooks to hang clothes and could've housed a dresser, but we made it work...
This will absolutely be our go-to hotel when in the Monterey area!👍

We've been coming here since 2015! It's our special place. You cannot beat the proximity to the beautiful beach. It's so close, like a 1-minute walk! I love the bonfires, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, and the sunsets from your very own balcony. The rooms all have fireplaces and it's so cozy. The TVs have Chromecast, which is great! The staff is wonderful (shoutout to John, Stacey, and Danny!) and they remember you at Sanctuary.

The GM sent chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of bubbly to our room for our anniversary. The best part was the handwritten note. It was a personal touch. We felt so special. Thank you for your hospitality, Sylvain! And thank you for always saving us our favorite room.

And thank you Justin and Nesteor for a phenomenal dinner at Salt Wood. You guys took such good care of us and went the extra mile. The new head chef is awesome. Passionfruit hot sauce? What?! We really enjoyed the trout and the duck. Both were grilled right before our eyes. Sit at the bar! It smells so good because of the wood fire and Mariah makes a delicious espresso martini! It's a really pretty restaurant. Brunch here is also awesome. I love the breakfast burrito and the burger. And they have a puppy menu. SO CUTE!

The rooms do need to be updated, but I know they're planning a remodel soon. There's also a pool and a hot tub. AND THEY ALLOW DOGS! It really is the perfect Bay Area getaway.

Absolutely LOVE this place! This was my boyfriend and my second stay here. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. Rooms are private and well kept. Their cottages are very intimate. Love the robes in the rooms. The dining at their restaurant Salt Wood is exceptional! 10/10 recommend this place it is forever going to be our romantic getaway spot. My husband and I had the best experience ever thanks to the hotel manager, Sylvain, and the rest of the staff at Sanctuary Beach Resort. The booking experience didn't start off well; however, it was quickly remedied by Sylvain and the staff. When we initially booked our reservation, a 3rd-party, Reservation Counter, became involved unbeknownst to me. If you're booking reservations, BOOK DIRECTLY with Sanctuary Beach Resort by CALLING THEIR LOCAL NUMBER. (Sylvain is working on this issue, as well.) After we were charged extra fees and falsely promised a room with certain accommodations by the 3rd-party company, I contacted the hotel directly in tears. Sylvain showed so much compassion as he listened to everything that had happened. He immediately resolved our issue and made sure that we stayed in the room with the accommodations as promised at no extra charge. (Full disclosure: The hotel is currently renovating rooms and hope to be continuing more renovations in the Fall.) When we checked in, Sylvain came out to personally introduce himself, and everyone was so welcoming. Our room was absolutely gorgeous. When we walked into our room, we were welcomed with a small tray of fruit and a hand-written note. The room was spacious, comfortable, and inviting. (Please see photos.) When you stay there you have access to a person who will come to your room with a golf cart to transport you back and forth to your room, bring you room service, etc. Breakfast and other items from the restaurant nearby are served in the room, as well. There are so many other things to do at the resort such as a night time fire pits, beach yoga, and play areas for adults and children. The best part of all, of course, is the beach. It is within walking distance or right off your room depending on which room you stayed in. I recommend the oceanfront rooms or suites. I could go on and on about the greatness. This was truly the best experience we have ever had in the Monterey area. Thank you so much, Sylvain and staff, for everything you did for us. I will never forget it. We will forever consider your resort as our home away from home.

My expectations were far exceeded. The location is amazing but the staff was right on par. There was a young lady at the front desk who was so nice to our daughter. This place will have a 10/10 in my book for life.

Beautiful place location and comfortable room. We had a rental car to visit nearby places like Carmel by the Sea, Big Sur, Lobos Point Park, Nepenthe restaurant, Carmel Valley vineyards etc. Our room was facing the ocean and the dune. We checked out the binoculars from the front desk and were able to see a seal, a dolphin and a whale on various mornings. We were shocked by the beauty of Carmel and Big Sur areas.
Make sure to check the weather and bring appropriate clothing. Morning fog from the ocean often brings cooler air from the bay, but it does not detract from the experience.

Hotel shares this property with Worldmark by Wyndham condos. Beautiful location on the bluff overlooking the beach. Not all units have an ocean view. There is a large pool and hot tub. Definitely a treat!

Was a visitor for a wedding. We didn't stay here but what a beautiful resort. Loved the beach and the venue was perfect. A beautiful place to get married at.

Stayed here several times just amazing spot to bring your family. My kids had the choice to chose Disneyland or Here and they didn't hesitate. The staff is extremely friendly and always helpful from finding AAA batteries for my son's drone to sitting bomb fires 🔥 to hanging out on the beach ⛱ This place 5 star from comfort, to pool and hot tub, the staff and restaurant 10's!

This place was warm and inviting! We had very attentive folks help us to our room. And made sure our stay was perfect. They upgraded my room because it was my birthday and it certainly was appreciated. The room was very clean and calming. The grounds were lovely...we enjoyed a walk on the beach and time by the fire pit. I wish we could have stayed longer!!
