I rate the hospital personnel as 10. My granddaughter and her mom and I recently visited Birmingham for a cheer competition and I had to leave the competition and go to the emergency room. I was very impressed with all of the staff. I noticed that regardless of whether rich or poor, black or white or even rude or kind all patients were treated with respect. You never know when people are watching. The doctors and nurses were also wonderful. I would highly recommend this hospital. Thank you so much for loving and caring for ALL of your patients. God is using ALL of you as healing instruments. May God bless you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Recently had surgery under Dr. Richard Fix and his team. He is the most compassionate, caring doctor I have ever encountered. He is doing breast reconstruction, which was not easy because of the radiation I had. He really did not have much tissue to work with and took what tissue he could from my stomach area.

I am so pleased with the surgery, All his team is wonderful. He has a special place along with Dee.

There’s not many doctors that will ask you if you will walk the steps to make sure that your lungs are healed enough for surgery and he did. 4 1/2 flights later he approved me.

He is awesome!!!

Was Air Evaced to UAB having a heart attack this past Monday morning around 12.30. When I arrived a team was waiting and worked fast to getting me stable and save my life! Been in University hospitals before but never this wonderful care that I received. All Drs involved didn't make a mistake. Every nurse that was involved took great care of me.
After two stents were put in place,I went home
the next morning around 11.00 or so. Quick fix and doing great!

Thank you for saving my life!!!!

Fiancé went in for open heart surgery everyone was so kind and his surgeon was straightforward and honest with the unknowns and uncertainties. We got all the worst possibilities told to us so we could understand what could be our new life. They were so wonderful to him and to us. Couldn’t ask for a better crew!!!

This is the place!!! The many, many fields and levels of care offered here is just so tremendous. Although I've encountered one or two persons with bad phone manners. The in person atmosphere totally makes up for them. I tell everyone I know, if they have health issues, get into this facility!!! You will not regret it.

My son had a really bad motorcycle wreck in September. The doctors, nurses and technicians couldn’t have been better to him. They were so helpful and caring , the doctors were better there than any other hospital around and the nurses were just amazing. Never have I seen such thorough care as he had in the trauma units there and if I ever have the choice to go to UAB or another hospital, my choice will be UAB hands down

I recently was transfered to UAB from a hospital in Florida. This was the best care I have ever received in my 47 years. The doctors kept me and my family very informed on what was wrong and the steps they were taking to fix it. The nursing staff is like nothing I have ever experienced before. They were all compassionate and caring. They were all truly a dream. The PCT were amazing. They were always attentive and answered every time I hit my button for help. Thank you to all of the staff at this hospital.

The nurses, health care technicians, doctors were awesome. For seven days, I felt cared for in the pulmonary unit. This made all the difference in the world after visiting the local ER on several occasions. Thanks to all of you for your hard work, dedication, and caring for your patients 💯😇 ❤

They were a bit understaffed but I'm not holding that against them. The ones that were there were very professional and courteous. Makes Huntsville Hospital look like a joke.

I am here with my mom for her surgery today and I felt compelled to write this review. I have never had such an amazing experience at a hospital. Absolutely everyone that works here, whether they’re a custodian, admin, food service worker, nurse, or doctor, is absolutely amazing. They’re professional, friendly, caring, empathetic, and appear to love working here. Whatever UAB is doing to attract and keep these kinds of employees is a model other hospitals should adopt. I’m just blown away.

If I lived in Alabama and needed surgery this is absolutely where I would come.

Well done y’all. Keep it up.

UAB Medical ICU staff was great. The nurses and doctors were incredibly accommodating to my family and gave my mom great care and compassion. They went above and beyond to make the time at the hospital as easy as possible

On July 17 2023 , I had a horrible Car accident. I had just left my house to go to the store . I live on a back road and when I went to dodge a huge pothole my tires got over in the grass and I started to slide very fast and I lost control and went off a revine and a huge tree caught me . I was taken to a local hospital in jasper al . Where they then discovered I had 3 broke ribs , and a broke back shoulder blade and my right lung was clasped. They then put a chest tube in and sent me to UAB. When I got there , they immediately took me into surgery because I was pouring blood out of my wound where jasper put the tube in . They then had to figure out y I was bleeding so bad after they took it out. UAB TRAUMA DOCTORS AND NURSES DID A WONDERFUL JOB. The most polite nurses I’ve ever had and the drs did a awesome job on my surgery. They stopped the bleeding and I instantly started feeling better. My lungs are in normal shape now , the X-rays looked great after the surgery, they did have to do a blood transfusion because of the loss of blood but I’m at home now and I just wanted to thank them from the bottom of my heart. They definitely saved my life . And for a hospital, they actually had a star bucks and great cafeteria with good food unlike most hospitals. Thank y’all so much ❗ Drs, nurses and diatary and sanitation also . Thank y’all . Most definitely the best care I’ve ever gotten from a hospital. Thank yall from the bottom of my heart ❗🙏🏼🙏🏼❤‍🩹❤‍🩹

My husband spent 11 days in NICU and another 46 days on the cancer floor. From the doctors and nurses to those that cleaned the floor - they were all kind and professional. We felt cared for by capable people. It seems strange to include it, but the hospital was clean. We've visited family in hospitals that were just filthy. They saved my husband's life, and that alone makes me love them, but they were so good to us - there are just not enough positive words to say about them. We are grateful.

I have 3 love ones at UAB at this present time. (I often visit them weekly) All have very serious health challenges and it looks like a long road for each of them. UAB has been really a blessing to each of them. Each one is progressing at their own pace but it's progress none the less. Thanks UAB for being so attentive and encouraging for my family. Your wealth of knowledge and experience really helps to get people back on track.

I believe the hospital itself is one of the best in Alabama. I would recommend to any trauma patient. However, communication between doctors and caregivers is lacking. At least in my situation. My family member was a transfer from another hospital with a stroke. The ER staff did not keep me informed and I didn't know anything until she was already out of surgery and in the ICU. Was even given the wrong room #.

First of all, I want to say that EVERYBODY was more than nice while I was in UAB HOSPITAL: all nurses, respiratory therapists, housekeeping workers, dietary workers, physical therapists, and all others. I don't mean to leave out anyone.

Special nurses that I want to recognize are: Courtney, Deanna, Miranda, Leah, Georgie, Kristen, and all others whose names I can't recall but whom I have certainly not forgotten. I appreciate all of you and your patience with me. All of you made my hospital stay so much better, and I truly loved having you all taking care of me!

I believe that UAB HOSPITAL is a great hospital, and I would recommend it to everybody I know who needs a fine hospital. However, I could have used another week or two of pain medication after leaving the hospital. In the hospital, they were great about keeping your pain controlled, but at home was a different game.

Again, I loved all the nurses and other workers. I think that they were all just great!----Charles Neal Kennamer
