San Jose's Downtown Food Hall

I went sitting there soft opening so there were only three restaurants open but I’m giving the food hall itself 5 stars cuz I see its big potential.

It’s a little further up Santa Clara Street than Walker so the main action of downtown is, maybe 15 minute walk from Cesar Chavez park.

I like the way you order at kiosks and there’s at least some limited seating. It’ll be a super convenient place to get multiple cuisines in the same place.

There was a lady running the place who is also business owner and she was truly awesome. Energetic and friendly.

I’m looking forward to going back when all the restaurants are open. I’ll post info on the food I ate directly on those restaurants links.

The food hall is really clean, not busy on Sunday afternoon. Heard about the place from the local news, I’ve decided to check it out . Luna’s taqueria is open I ordered a veggie sope & veg reg burrito.Each item is freshly made to order. Sope was light with crunchy edges, fresh veggies stir fry were still crunchy and sweet. Salsa Roja & verte were tangy with a punch that goes really well with the creamiest of the cheese & avocado. Will def recommend others to try out… while waiting, the staff offer me a Jamaica on the house …😋yummy food & drink. Will def go back to try other items on the menu.

Very excited about this new food hall option in downtown! Had sunset squares pizza recently and wow, it was the best Detroit style pizza I’ve had in the bay, definitely going back. Their unique twist is using sourdough for the crust, this elevated the pizza. So far I’ve had the pepperoni and the mushroom. Will try other toppings next time.

The food hall has provided the neighborhood with some exciting new variety. Will also be trying out some of the other food vendors next time. Bathrooms were very clean and staff friendly and fast.

Awesome establishment, very well lit, clean bathrooms, very well organized. When I visited I dove into sunset square pizza. The food was delicious and made with love by the employees. Awesome to have a SF pizza joint in the heart of SJ! Definitely will be coming back and spreading the word!

Had a Shawarma chicken wrap and fries and hubby had pepperoni pizza. All was excellent and very friendly service.

Awesome experience. Had food from Mercy Mediterranean and Luna’s Halal Taqueria and it was 5/5 good. The employees/manager checked up on our experience a few times and it was super nice. Definitely recommend!

Went to Luna's Halal Taqueria - delicious food, incredibly friendly people. The pineapple juice drink was especially nice. At first it seemed a little expensive, but these tacos are HUGE and the owners are VERY welcoming. Well worth the price. Will return many times :)

Sunset Squares Pizza is a delicious option at this food hall. Their pizzas are the best that I’ve had. Couldn’t recommend it enough! The ingredients are all quality and tasty. Pepperoni is my fave. Excited to have a SF restaurant in San Jose.

Got the combo plate at Mercy Mediterranean. Generous portions and very tasty! And service from Fadi was great. Glad to have this new option in downtown and I’ll be back again

Pros: Food was delicious and was a surprisingly hearty portion for the price ($26.05 after tax + tip). I ordered a bento box from Azuma with chicken katsu, pork gyoza and a California roll. Food came with a side salad, miso soup, and rice as well.

Cons: The food did however take a long time to come out and the kiosk system is confusing as only 2 of them have all the options and the other 3 each only have one food location each. When I order food again, I’ll probably see if I can order it before walking over instead.

Other notes: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options from many of the cloud kitchens which was nice to see for others.

Although I took my meal to go, there was plenty of open seating despite how busy it was at noon.

I am so excited foe this food ball to be open but note it is still a soft opening. More restaurants will open up this week. I ordered a vegan burrito from a traditional place so it's good but too much of the grilled onions on that one. I look forward to late night pick ups when everyone else is closed. Yay for city life options.

Mercy Mediterranean is an absolute gem in downtown San Jose. My family has followed Chef Fadi for years. We drove over 30 minutes to eat his lamb and chicken Gyros as well as my kids just love his chicken and rice plate. You won't be disappointed.

Good food, though not much choice for vegetarians The pitas are soft and fresh unlike other Mediterranean places. The hostess is very nice and friendly, goes out of the way to serve every customer.

Fast casual, where you order at a kiosk, , food came out in several minutes, which showed it was being made to order. Total plus. Ordered a sushi combo from azuma. It was very good, fresh, well prepared, good size rolls, so I definitely got my $$ worth.

Great food, and the staff were so kind. My friend and I picked food from Mercy Mediterranean and Manakish. The guy who served us from Mercy was a beautiful human who made the best kofta kebab I’ve ever had (spicy!). And the manakish (like a middle eastern pizza but like 40x more delicious than you might expect) was sooooo good. We got the whipped labneh one. It’s a large pita with olive oil, zaatar spices, labnah (thick yogurt) and cucumbers and tomatoes on top. You have to try it. Highly recommend!
Only downside is that it was cold in there bc they left the from doors open. Regardless, I’ll be back!

Excellent food, superb service and wonderful ambience. Shabana and her team have done a great job of making this restaurant a huge success. I will definitely recommend it to one and all.

What a cool concept! This “cloud kitchen” just opened up a few weeks ago, in Jan 2024. There are a dozen different restaurants with a common dining area. I highly recommend coming here if you have friends with varied dietary restrictions: everyone can find something to eat!

We ordered food from Manakish oven. The manakish that we got was similar to a pizza, and the tri-tip beef topping was delicious. We also enjoyed the chicken shawarma fries - both dishes were halal. But my favorite part of the meal was the refreshing and zesty mint lemonade, which felt like a much-needed taste of spring on such an overcast and rainy day.

We will definitely be visiting the dining hall again soon! Next time we plan on ordering from Mercy Mediterranean and/or Luna’s Halal Taqueria

Tried Mercy for dine-in and Luna’s to go. Both were delicious. Luna’s $6.99 for a be salmon taco was a bit pricey, it tasted good

I had a great experience at Mercy Mediterranean. The lamb gryo is one of the best that I have tried. It’s not gamey at all and very moist. Great services.
