It’s such a joy to find a place that has vegan options! While we always make it work wherever we go, sometimes not having to “make it work” is a nice luxury that we are always grateful for. Wish we weren’t two hours away, but it’s well worth the drive! Baked goods, breakfast, lunch/dinner, coffee, tea, lattes, cupcakes, bread, bagels, etc. Thank you so much for the delicious brunch!

Yum! I don't need to care about whether their menu is gluten-free, I DO care whether their food tastes good - and it does!! We ordered the french toast and the (vegetarian) biscuits and gravy. The french toast was superb, with a light crust of visible egg on the bread, and a perfectly sweet (but not overly sweet) topping of blackberry sauce and honey. As for the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits weren't as fluffy as I would ideally prefer but I'll give them a pass since they tasted fine *and* because the gravy was vegetarian and very flavorful. We also bought two cookies to-go that are quite good - I really like their thin cookies. We live half an hour away but the eye surgery center I occasionally visit is in Mt Vernon so I plan to be a regular on the days when I'm in town.

This is the first time I've eaten here and I loved it. I haven't had biscuits and gravy in 3 years since I found out I had Celiac's; it was so delicious. And the French toast was yummy with the berry compote. Thank you for making such great gluten free food!!

I have Celiac disease, and it was so nice to go to a restaurant and not worry about cross contamination. The biscuit breakfast sandwich was amazing! I haven't had a gluten free biscuit that good in my life. We also got some bread and baked goods to go, all of which have been delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could go regularly.

—Awesome to find a fantastic menu with excellent numerous vegan options in Mount Vernon. What a surprise. The number of menu items was the perfect amount for lots of choices but not too big to confuse. The only issue…standing in line waiting to order 17 minutes listening to a rambling person figure out the menu instead of knowing what she and her dining partner wanted to order ahead of time—like we did. It helped the wait when the order taker rolled her eyes at me because she was going through the painful order process too—LOL. Then the food arrived 32 minutes later. Well plated, flavorful, and enough food for a quality lunch. The decor is unique with local art for sale. Definitely coming back.

We got the fish n chips. Flavors were on point and not too salty like fish n chips can sometimes be. My only critique would be to chop the slaw ingredients much more finely, but it tasted perfect. Friendly service and great menu. Interior could use some fresh paint and TLC.

Great, lowkey vibes. We got the pineapple caeser salad with bread (which was so good and flavorful!). The french toast had banana batter which was so good!! French toast that we like has been impossible until now, and the potato fingerlings were so good without any sauce at all. Definitely a new favorite, wish it was closer <3

Shambala bakery is one of the best places I've been to in awhile!! Everything they make is from scratch, they have so many vegan options and they serve breakfast till 4!! Their rosemary sourdough with avocado, rainbow omelet and side salad was to die for!! My girlfriend got the Gyro which was so good too.

Really cool place! They are not only gluten-free but also free of many common allergens AND extremely vegan friendly. There's a health-conscious theme here with the grain blend they use and also a whole line of adaptogen drinks. But the vibe is not "health food bar", it has a very warm and intimate, and a little quirky, cafe feel. The staff was really welcoming and helpful with all the questions I had. Order at the counter, and they bring the food to you if you're eating in. Not inexcusably slow, but they seem to take their time with the food, so this is not the place to order a meal if you're in a rush. The drinks come out much faster and if you order a baked good they'll grab it for you on the spot.
I had a Red Pepper Reuben with Coleslaw, Carrot Cupcake, and Chaga Latte. I went with the vegan option for the reuben - if the vegan cheese option had just been one generic flavour, I would've gone for the "regular" version so that I could get the Swiss for my reuben, but they actually had different flavours of vegan cheese (the worker mentioned cheddar, swiss, and provolone) so you can actually get a suitable replacement for the standard recipe when you veganize here! Anyway, this sandwich was delicious! A little messy to eat because the roasted pepper and sauerkraut made it very juicy, and I think vegan cheese doesn't hold things together as well as real cheese, but the mess was worth it. The gf bun was quite good - not as tender as traditional bread, but the wholesome flavour was very nice. Their coleslaw was very interesting too, it tasted like there might've been tahini in the dressing and I was into it. The cupcake was indistinguishable from a non-gf carrot cake and the coconut frosting was really good. Finally, the latte, which I got with hemp milk, was also very nice. I'm not sure how much of the subtle nutty flavour came from the chaga and how much was just the hemp, but it was a nice change from the usual hot drinks I get. The only thing I have to criticize is why do they not have house mugs for drinks when you dine in? All the food was served on ceramic plates, but my drink came in a to-go cup, which was very disappointing. Otherwise this was a great experience - I doubt I'll have the chance to stop in Mt. Vernon again but I'll have to make a beeline for this place if I do.

This place is FANTASTIC! Dedicated gluten free, perfect for even celiac. I had some delicious fish and chips. A chocolate lava cake for dessert. Even grabbed a savory scone for breakfast. Good service, great menu, excellent food!

So glad we didn't miss this place while searching for a bite to eat. Nearly all of their baked goods are vegan, and most of their menu is vegan, as well. They are also completely gluten free and meat free. Tried their shambala burger and cold golden milk -- they were both delicious! Got a cinnamon roll to go and that was incredible as well.

Was introduced to Shambala's bread at the Everett farmer's market. I'm so so glad I gave their sourdough loaf a shot. It is by far the best, cleanest ingredient vegan and gluten free bread I've ever had. The texture is like normal bread, it toasts extremely well, and it doesn't disintegrate in a hearty sandwich like a lot of gfree breads out there. The flavor has a perfect sourdough tang as well. It's become a weekly must buy :)

I am gluten free and my sister and sister in law are both vegan. We love coming here when we are in town because we have never enjoyed breakfast, lunch, pastries and pizza as much as we enjoy shambala's creations! The were testing gluten free donuts the last time I was there and hope they continue to make them. I hadn't had a donut in 4 years and was so excited by this little pastry I bought 2. They are truly magicians, because everything tastes amazing!

My husband and I have been gluten free for a long time now and I can’t believe we are just finding out about this place!
It is completely gluten free! I was so surprised! They are dairy free, vegan, and vegetarian options as well!
The food was so good! We tried the french toast, cheese bread, cinnamon roll, and elephant ears (the frosting was to die for)! We were in heaven and definitely left in a food coma. There was a lot of options as well and breakfast served all day! The vibe was very homey and artsy. We will absolutely be coming here again!
