Lowry Theater

This is a huge theater that shows current movies for free for active duty military in their dependents, as well as anyone with access to the base. Their website shows the current showings and times (super basic).

In case it matters to you, as of the writing of this review, they were requiring masks to enter the facility. I found that no one was policing that policy though, and many people either didn't have a mask or had their mask pulled down to their chin, especially if they were eating. So I'd say it's pretty relaxed.

If you're trying to get an idea for what the theaters like, imagine a huge high school auditorium that's about 25 years old. The seats aren't horrible, but they are pretty torn up and old. This is not a typical movie theater seating, though it does rise on a grade so that the people in back can see the screen easily. They were able to get it fairly dark in there and the sound was nice and loud.

They have concessions that include popcorn, chips, Icees, and some other treats. I saw a plenty of people sneak in their own food though. We bought an Icee and it was cheaper than if I had bought one at the theater. So basically we spent about $4 for two people to see a new movie.

Hey, for a free movie that's currently still in theaters, this place can't be beat!

Great movie theater. Adult son with special needs, loves the movies and pop corn ,they let him bring his own ranch to sprinkle on it, then get a hair cut, food court as well

So much fun at amazing prices here. The food services are small but I would also argue proper, they are cheap though compared to a regular theatre so no complaints. Movies are free. Seating is plentiful. Picture and sound quality are good overall.

We absolutely love this theater! It's free for military personnel and their dependant. The snacks are cheap and good. The theater is big, spacious and clean.

Big theatre with comfortable seats in the middle and front, little outdated ones in the back. Delicious popcorn at the concession stand. We went there on a Saturday, it wasn't crowded at all. Parking can be little challenging as it does not have a dedicated parking lot. Great service. PS. This is on the base.

If you are in the military or have base access as a contractor or dependent, this theater is a great deal. Free first-run movies and reasonable prices for hotdogs and other fair. This is a classic theater with multiple aisles and a large screen (just like the old days of single-screen theaters). They have redone half the seats, and added ceiling fans, so it's more comfortable in the summer. You will not be frozen out by A/C as there is none. Your wife will not need her parka.

Military families are free. Just pay for food and beverages. Not mandatory.

Fantastic older theater. A big thanks to the Navy for bringing this attraction to our troops and their families.

Saw Top Gun Maverick. Great film! And a fitting place to see it.

This is the Base theater and anyone who has access two base may use it. They have my favorite price which is free, all the movies they have are recent. And you can get a popcorn combo for under $5. So remember when you buy stuff from MWR, it supports movie theaters such as one.

Very good movie theater that is free for veterans and there familys. The moves come out a little after other theaters but it saves you money. They have food and drinks for very cheap prices. One theater and has very good quality

What a great theater. It was our first time on the base and we visited McDonalds, the marvelous bowling alley, and saw Captain America Civil War. Should have come here years ago as We often stay at the RV resort at Fiddlers Cove. Another reason why Coronado is one of our most favorite places.

It's a good place for younger & elderly to come watch movies not forgetting the food stand getting soda, popcorn, pizza & candy not forgetting the good movies the theater shows. Tks Lowry Theater

Be prepared to stand at attention before the beginning of every movie, this is mandatory! By the way, you're in a military installation.

Very affordable prices on snacks, drinks, nachos, and popcorn for the wallet. Just remember to go online to check for movie listings for dates and times.

Note, movies on base are usually about a few weeks after their initial openings. Enjoy! 👍

Honest employees too. 3 days ago went to see (sneak preview of Small Foot) I lost my D.L. 5 cards total thankfully they found it and kept it in a safe place. Aren't they Awesome!!! Big thank YOU again.

Free movies every day and they have a great snack bars with very decent prices. You can buy a full meal from the snack bar for less than what you'd pay for a ticket off base.
