Denault's Ace Hardware

I grew up in Carlsbad and now own and manage a general contractor/outdoor living specialist focused on decks and patios (West Coast Deck). I’ve been coming to Denault’s for over 35 years. It mostly reminds me of my first little league home run (dead center at Chase Field a few blocks away).

Denault’s is the life-saving everything you need in the way of hardware and advice to get you through the problems of the moment! Convenient on Carlsbad Village Drive and catering to neighbors not wanting to meander endlessly in warehouse stores. There is a very strong likelihood it has what you are looking for to get the job done at a lower price. Oh, and just like the box stores Denault’s offers a military discount!

These guys are great! They really know how to run a hardware store that has all of the parts you need for specific jobs. Thanks again to Miguel he always comes through.

Mid-sized hardware store. Considering that, it is well stocked, and has lots of interesting and unique home decorative items. Special emphasis on beach-themed items. They also have automotive items, although I couldn’t find the 5w-20 oil I was looking for. No lumber, as you would expect. Well staffed, and plenty busy. Plenty of parking, and easy access right off the I-5.

All I can say is "Wow!" We had six new window screens we needed replaced, not just a roll of mesh and a DIY kit. This particular Ace Hardware store is the best of the best! From start to finish, the entire experience was outstanding. The staff was enthusiastic and welcoming, and Stephen assisted us. We got all six screens replaced the same day and with custom specifications. When we saw the screens, we were amazed at the quality of the job and particularly the tight mider cuts. Turns out, Stephen just so happened to have his own custom screen business for 40 years and really knows his craft! So we had a friendly staff, same-day service and high quality, but the prices were less than half of what another reputable screen company from Carlsbad quoted us. Honestly, the service was so good that I told the staff and I was not a secret shopper and not some VIP but that they treated me like royalty. I highly recommend Denault's Ace Hardware in Carlsbad!

My husband was putting together a new outdoor patio heater and realized we were missing the M6 nuts. We had common company coming to stay with us within a few hours!

He ran to Home Depot and they were out of them. I called this Ace hardware store and talked to Stephen. He assured me that they had the ones I needed in stainless so they would not rust. I drove through Friday traffic to get there and met Stephen at the store - he tried each one out with the screw I brought to make sure each one from that drawer fit(!) so I would have no surprises when I got home. How thoughtful!

Five stars not enough to describe my experience! If you want expert help with a project, this is the place to go. Stephen made my life simpler and solved my problem with a smile on his face. The other staff I met at the store were also very customer-focused. I honestly almost never get exemplary customer service anymore but I know I will make the drive back here because I greatly appreciated how valued I was made to feel! Stellar experience. Reasonable prices too.

Always great service, & everyone is very nice. Choose to support the local hardware store over the big guys. Never been disappointed shopping here.

Denault’s has all the items you can’t find at one of the large home improvement stores!

Staff is also very helpful with small-appliance problems—when I was trying to take a table fan apart for cleaning but was stopped by an oddly shaped screw, one of the good gentlemen there stuck with me until we found a tool that worked. Super service!

Went to Lowes first to get sprinkler parts and the shelves were all messed up, couldn't find the things i was looking for. Went to Denaults and easily found and purchased what I needed. Very organized, super friendly and knowledgeable employees. Amazing how much they have in a small store.

This location does a great job on screen repair.

Ace is still the best place to go for service. Excellent service and advise. No one can beat them! Super nuts and bolts selections.

I ❤ this Old School Type hardware store. A step back in time when you could find nuts/bolts/screws!!! A GREAT selection and nice people. Family owned for a long time. I will go back for sure.

You can't beat the service at a family owned hardware store. DeNaults has been our first choice for more than a decade. It's worth the effort to drive past any big box store to get what you need quickly. No searching for things. You're greeted immediately and directed to where you need to go. In the end, the 5 minutes longer that it takes to go here saves me plenty of time since I'm never searching the big box for hard to find items or someone to help me and not waiting in line to check out. Just browsing in the store is truly an enjoyable experience.

If you need any tools, key service, paint, etc. you'll find it there.

Living about 1/2 a mile from Denaults, I often go there for random home improvement items. Their convenient location is great and I don't mind spending 10-15% more for the convenience. They also have a GREAT hardware (nuts and bolts) selection. Service has always been great and not sure what the hubub is regarding returning items. I've never had an issue with returns, however, I have always had the receipt.

Great for finding any screw, bolt, washer etc. Store is so well organized and staff is super friendly. Best, they are knowledgeable!!

I've gone in for paint on more than one occasion. The employees are always helpful and knowledgeable. Great customer service.

I love shopping at this store because everyone is so helpful. I had a great experience today with Miquel in the paint department. He gave me some good advice about how to handle a project and gave me the confidence that I could do it! It turned out to be much easier than I anticipated.

Definitely a bit more personal and community focused/nice sales associates here, only drawback is that they don't always have the selection i need for bigger projects... But I always come here for tools, hardware, paint or just odds and ends needed around the house!

So glad to have a local expert to repair and replace screen windows. That’s an increasingly lost art.
