Tip Top Meats

Came here to try German food and it ended up being really tasty. Huge proportions of food, good taste and I really recommend it. I went during lunch, it was a bit busy so there was a bit of a line but it ended up being fairly quick. I ordered the I got Schnitzel (veal, german potato salad, red cabbage, saurkraut, pickle, bread roll and salad) which was pretty good. And I got a Haufbrau Munchen beer to wash it down. Amazing food and I recommend!

Love this place! Large selection, very reasonable prices, large portion, easy casual sittings. Make sure you check out their groceries sections too, lots of good quality meats, cold cuts, beer.

The hidden jewel in Carlsbad. The restaurant is hide very inside of this grocery shop, good coffee, excellent atmosphere, food is super worth the bill and nice staff. I will keep coming back!

Our out-of-town guests always request to dine here. They love the unique German menu at very accessible prices. Kids love the burgers. The prime rib special often sells out before closing. German beer on tap. You can also have them cook a steak to order from the extensive meat case.

The restaurant here is great, but it can take a long time to put in an order, and almost as long to get your order. So plan ahead. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious, carefully made, and well prepared, but it would be great if they came up with a more efficient order taking system. The shop is the best European market and meat shop in the region. It's a treat every time.

Love this place. So much food for such a reasonable price. Lamb shank was really good. Baked potato was a little undercooked. Roulade was really good. Schnitzel was good but a little overcooked. Short ribs and Chef's salad were good too.

Nice market and restaurant. Go early and expect to get in line. Delicious food and very, very reasonable price. Our Czech guest was extremely impressed and satisfied with his dinner!

Excellent beer!

If you want some of their menu items at home, you can always buy and cook at home.

I ordered a BLT and it was fantastic! Lots of wonderful bacon- all the ingredients were fresh and the bread wasnt dry. I asked for the German potato salad (first time ever) as my side and it was good. Different but good. 5 stars for the food. So far!
I'd love to try the other menu items. Although, I'll probably phone the order in as the wait was pretty long while ordering and prep time
The rest of the place is a market with fresh meats and hard to find items.

I dropped by last Sunday to see about their program that lets me pick a steak and they cook it, or you say "Top Sirloin", "New York", I forget the third. Call it "Rib Eye." They pick one for you. The line was out the door.

I bought a Porterhouse and cooked it on my vintage barbeque. It was great. My plan was to make the meat decision and then go to the Carlsbad Village Market. I was hoping for some wonderful fresh vegetables. They don't have a lot of organic, but there is locally grown. It didn't matter because it was five minutes after six, the Market was empty. We had frozen vegetables and salad.

Great food, large portions, and decent pricing. This is a German market, deli, meat market, and a restaurant all rolled into one. There is not much seating and it kinda cramped, but feels like you’re in someone’s home enjoying a great meal.

We go to TOP TOP MEATS while visiting the San Diego area..The " BEST" steaks in THE World! U get to pick your own meat from the meat counter..They have ALL Kinds of meats and they cook it the way you want... Go once, you will Definitely Go Again... LOVE THIS PLACE... :))

It is an interesting place. It's a corner grocery store with wines and beers, plus a decent butcher shop, plus, surprisingly, an attached restaurant. Everything feels very German, including the menu, it was a delight to experience something outside the usual melting pot merchants. You enter the restaurant through the grocery store, the food is very affordable, and, despite looking like it would be better suited for an older crowd, was really quite tasty. Excellent quality, and in satiating quantity. It's so much not the usual type restaurant that would attract me as a customer but it won me over. It will be returning to taste all their other offerings.

Wonderful! There is a restaurant within the store...or is it a store attached to a restaurant? Either way, it doesn't matter....just wonderful. The food at the restaurant is so yummy and an amazing value. Genuine German food, I had the Sauerbraten. Best I have had since visiting German. My sister had Rouladen, her husband had bratwurst, and my husband had the Holsteiner Schnitzel. No complaints from any of us. Both my sister and I had the lentil soup.....could have made an entire meal of this it was so good.

As for the meat market and European items for sale.....Wow, just Wow. A must stop when in the area. Come hungry, you will not regret it!!

I have been here many times over the years, I say I go to LegoLand with my son so we can stop here after!!

Some don't like the set-up, order in line, then go sit. There are various rooms and such. The restaurant is kind of mixed in, but I like it!!!

The meatloaf & mashed taters meal is a go to.

But the sausage platter is awesome also.

Dang it, now I need to drive an hour north to eat!!!

Top Top is just the best. It has everything. It is a corner market, a butcher shop, a deli, and a great place to have breakfast or lunch. Everything is great so get what you like and you will be happy.

From simple egg breakfast to steak and some of the best sausages, they have it all. It reminds me of an old German restaurant, but it is not. Don't get me wrong, they have the best selection of sausage, that you can have there, take away, or get it at the deli and cook at home.

The service is ever so nice. It does get a tad crowded, but you will be seated fast enough. It is worth a little wait.

Parking is easy.

The prices are really fair.

We also love their burgers and any type of steak they have. They know how to cook.

You can eat and then get some cool stuff to take home later to cook. Have the best time.

The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and catering. Hugh servings. We had two plates that include the main entree, two sids, soup or salad and a roll - we added two beers and it was only $40!!! for all that. So much that we had to have 2-go plates. Desserts we had after - Mmmmmm Delicious!! The bonus was that the customers were super friendly as well. #GoGetYouSome .... we did this place again on V-Day 2.14.23. See the new pix!!

Great place for great food and shopping! They have an extensive meat selection, as well as lots of German groceries and even some Indonesian. They even carry fresh Fleischsalat in the fridge! Prices are very fair considering import fees, etc. They also have excellent sausage selection. We ate first, then shopped. When you walk through the shop toward the back you can order food at the counter and then bring it to your table (menu is online if you want to look ahead of time). I got the Rouladen - comes with 2 sides, plus soup or salad and dinner roll. Big portion and absolutely delicious. I got mine with German potato salad and half-and-half Sauerkraut/Red Cabbage. Plenty of food, so come hungry! Salad is fresh & crunchy. Soups change daily. When we were there they had Oxtail and Potato soup. You can taste they are homemade - both excellent. Staff were all very nice and very friendly. We felt welcomed and appreciated. Will definitely be back!!!

Tip Top Meats. First time eating food from here. The burger and Reuben were excellent. Such a huge burger patty, and the corned beef was as lean as it could be. Burger, fries and Coke, $10.98, and Reuben with potato salad,$9.98. Their prices are unbelievable!! They also have a store and meat case. And so many different sausages. Going for breakfast next...3 eggs, potatoes, toast and all the breakfast meats you can eat for $9.98.

Best German style deli around. Their restaurant is 10/10 and feels just like you're eating at mom's house. Could not recommend this place more. Be warned, this place is a senior hot spot so lunch, early dinner and Saturday/Sunday are super busy.
