I cannot say enough great things about Companion Pet Care and Dr. Ted Burghardt. We first saw Dr Ted with our senior dog Boston and he is one of the kindest persons we have met, and the most knowledgeable and professional vet we have been to (and we’ve seen a few vets in the past, since previously we took our dogs to larger, less personal places, where you never knew which doc you would see). We never felt rushed in our appointments and always felt like our dog was loved! When Boston reached the end of his life at almost 14, Dr. Ted and his staff were so loving and thoughtful and made the experience for our dog and us as comfortable as possible.
We now have a puppy named Koda and are happy to be under Dr Ted's care again, where we have complete trust in him and his staff. It's a place that feels "homey" and warm, and i recommend it to all my friends. I'm grateful to a dear friend who referred me to him.

We recently took our new little puppy for her first vet visit and were absolutely delighted with the experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, Sam at the front desk greeted us with such kindness and warmth, making us feel immediately welcome and at ease.
Ted, the vet, was simply wonderful. He was not only professional and knowledgeable, but also incredibly gentle and patient with our puppy, ensuring that our little one felt safe and comfortable throughout the visit. Ted took the time to thoroughly explain everything, from the examination process to the recommended vaccinations and care tips, answering all my questions with patience and expertise. Getting a new puppy is overwhelming. After this visit alone, I will now be bringing all my pets here.
It's clear that the team here truly cares about the animals and their well-being. The clinic itself was clean, well-organized, and equipped with the latest technology, which reassured us that our puppy was in the best hands.
We left feeling confident and relieved, knowing that our new family member has a great vet in Ted. We highly recommend this clinic to any pet owners looking for outstanding veterinary care. A huge thank you to sweet Sam, Ted, and the entire team for such a positive experience!

Love love love! I came to Companion Pet Care because my regular vet didn’t have room to see my dog, who was clearly in pain. Companion got me in asap and both Dr R and Dr B were wonderful! They have a no fear policy which relieves stress on my dogs and me. They’re my new Vet now and I love them!

Dr. Burghardt and Companion Pet Veterinary are the best! My dog and I are treated with respect, they take the time to listen to my questions or concerns and give me the answers to them. Also, he has never prescribed anything that was unnecessary to pad the bill. This veterinary clinic is definitely worth taking your pet to for quality care.

Best vet experience I've had in a long time. They are very communicative, very caring about our pets, and very clear about charges and pricing before anything is done. It was our first time here having moved from out of town and we're glad to have landed on a trustworthy vet that we will definitely continue to go to.

Best vet in the world! Staff is incredible - caring and compassionate. Dr. Burghardt is the kindest, and even personally calls you to check up on your loved ones. Niala took such good care of my little terrier mix the other day, I always trust my babies are in good hands with Niala. Glen is the most knowledgeable and kind-hearted, taking time to explain aftercare. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found CPC and am confident they are the very best at caring for my fur family!

I am new to the area and saw Dr. Ted at companion pet care for the first time. He was so wonderful with Enzo. My dog felt so comfortable with him immediately I feel grateful to have had such a wonderful experience! Highly recommend this practice. Everyone was friendly and the visit was very efficient.

Today was our first appointment with our two dogs, Pippi and Gracie. The people are friendly and kind, and the energy in the office is so calm and comforting that even our anxiety prone Gracie was calm. We had many things done and purchased some supplements, and the bill was surprisingly low. This is our new vet. Thank you, Companion Pet Care and Dr. Burghardt.

I left our first appointment at Companion Pet Care feeling so heard and taken care of.

Backstory: We bring our pup, Lulu, to the vet once a year for a checkup, but every time we left our old vet, we never fully felt confident that we knew what was going on with Lu. We were told she was overweight, but left with no tools or explanation of why or how to manage it. (along with some other things we had concerns about. We rescued her from Mexico when she was about 4 months old).

She was handled with such care at Companion, I really appreciate that they leave the door open while they’re taking blood/giving vaccines etc. and I could hear the staff being sweet and knew she wasn’t in distress.

Dr. Burghardt answered all my questions and the next day called with her blood work and was SO through!! So many puzzle pieces about her health finally fell into place and we finally got answers!!

She’s 4, and for the last 2 years has been lethargic, not interest in playing with other dogs, but swims and loves chasing the ball… and just has had this extra weight on her. Well thanks to Companion Pet Care, she’s been on thyroid meds for almost a week and we’re already seeing results :)

Dr. Burghardt assessed, researched, talked to a specialist, stayed in touch, and helped us make a plan… and I can finally say that I left the vet knowing I was providing the very best care for my baby girl…

I have taken both my dog and cat to Companion Pet Care and have nothing but positive reflections from the experiences from start to finish. I've seen several tech and two Docs and everyone was caring, kind & took the time to answer my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed and I also received courteous follow up calls checking in on my pet(s). Definitely recommend.

My dog can be difficult at the vet and this is the only place my dog is safe and well taken care of. The staff are kind and compassionate and always take the best care of our dog. They always go the extra mile with check in calls and reminder messages. This is the only place for our furry buddy!

The location is easy to find and park, the staff greets you immediately and takes care of you right away. The doctor is extremely caring and truly takes his time and examines the dog thoroughly. Dr. Ted has taken the best care possibly with my two cavaliers, Romeo and Juliet.

First visit with new rescue. Vet and vet tech very interested in the dog. Prices are reasonable and all charges fully explained. This vet is clearly a vet for his love of animals! Highly recommend. Felt very confident this office will compassionately care for the critters.

The staff and Dr. B are always terrific, they make my pets feel safe and loved. They are professional and I trust them completely with my pets. I never hesitate to bring my pets in to Dr. B....he is genuinely concerned for their health, and is always so helpful......couldn't be happier!!

Companion Pet Care has taken care of both our dog and cat, with love, compassion and quality care for years. Dr. Burghardt and his staff are wonderful!! Dr. Burghardt takes his time with our pets, answers our questions and concerns, and either Dr. Burghardt or his staff always follow up with phone calls to make sure our pets are ok. Five++ stars!!

Companion Pet Care is by far the best clinic I’ve been to. Dr. Burghardt and all of the staff take pride in caring for the patients and making sure both the patient and client are educated and comfortable during the visit and after. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and they all love what they do!

We are forever grateful for Dr. Ted Burghardt and his team at Companion Pet Care in Encinitas, CA. They have once again exceeded our expectations with the neuter surgery on our beloved rescue pup Kaipo! We have brought our own pets and referred family and friends to Dr. Burghardt for many years, long before his work at Companion Pet Care. He is a superb veterinarian, surgeon, has a fantastic bedside manner and has high morals.

Companion Pet Care is close to the 5, right off the 101- there’s always parking in their lot and the clinic is warm and inviting. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and professional. They have a clinic cat and dog who act as the welcoming committee and make the hospital feel like the mom-pop clinics of the past. The hospital has all the modern equipment and they text/email and call with care reminders.

In 2019 Dr. Burghardt and the Companion Pet Care team took care of our 9 year old Maltipoo’s dental cleaning with extractions, our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel’s complicated dental, extractions, and oral surgery, and our Dobie mix rescue pup’s spay/microchip. We’ve had dogs all of our lives and never have they recovered so beautifully after complex procedures as they have after seeing Dr. Burghardt.

We trust him and his team with our fur family members and feel blessed to have found him!
