Kakao Chocolate

Great premium chocolate. This time I went in on Valentine's day & the selection is massive, without skimping on quality. Honestly, this is the best chocolate in St.Louis.
The staff is welcoming & helpful as always.
The chocolate has a nice snap when bitten & rich velvety texture. Flavors are inventive & trendy with a wide selection for all pallets. I recommend getting a variety of the barks for a fun tasting experience.!

I’ve come here randomly over the years and love this place! They have the best truffles I’ve ever tasted. I have gotten the truffles as gifts before. Very creamy, with strong, well balanced flavors. Top notch

Kakao is amazing! Their chocolate is truly remarkable--they have a huge variety of really original chocolate treats, and at very reasonable price points. I haven't had anything from them that wasn't interesting, creative, and delicious! As a vegan, I also very much appreciate that they have a great assortment of vegan options (and also cater to a wide range of diets and allergies, and make it very clear which of their chocolates fit these specific criteria.) Highly recommend!

I just have to share this wonderful customer service interaction I just had. Somehow there had been a mix up in my gift order. It accidently got sent to me and not my friend in Tennessee. But Brian just called to tell me they would make it right. And he said I should enjoy the box intended for my friend, even though I offered to return it.
And of course, their chocolates are superb!!

Great chocolate place in Maplewood. They give free samples for walking in so at least stop in if you’re in the area!

I know people who would mortgage their children for a trip through Kakoa. They have a great variety of flavors, and the chocolate is made fresh. If you have a yen for chocolate, you should spend your summer vacation here.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I want to treat myself and my go to response when my boyfriend asks what I want for a present! The chocolate is fantastic. We shop here all year but especially like to go around the holidays to pick up treats for our family and friends!! Would highly recommend!

Heard about this local chocolate shop and we had to visit this place. The first thing we were greeted with were fresh samples and they did not disappoint in the least bit. Prices are expected for specialty shop but we got a great assortment of candies, chocolates and ICE CREAM for a good price. Shopping local is always nice, cool here to see their entire operation in the open.

Kakao is a next level artisan chocolate shop! I don’t see how anyone could give them any less than 5 stars. I’ve been in several time for truffles, caramels, wine gummies and my favorite the marshmallow pies. We’ve even done one of the classes, which make for an excellent date night for you romantics out there. I’ve seen some people fuss about the price, but these creations aren’t “just chocolate” they’re made with skill, passion and with an artistic flair that you can’t find on the candy aisle at target. It’s a delicious experience that I reserve for those days I need a pick-me-up or a celebratory snack. Check them out in Maplewood or at the Tower Grove farmers market next time you’re at either location.

Friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, beautiful displays and incredible service! A free sample when I walked in the door, incredible flavor and I left with a recommendation for my friends and family.

Great shop! They have an amazing chart going over allergens and local ingredients in all their products which is really helpful. They have the most delicious chocolate and all their dark chocolate is dairy free. They also have a chocolate bark with freeze dried strawberries which are so hard to find! Cute corner for body products and cards too.

The BEST marshmallows I’ve ever had. The raspberry gummy candies were incredible.

I absolutely love Kakao chocolate. The owner is passionate about chocolate and it shows. He uses chocolate from a variety of places to get the most amazing flavor. He also uses a lot of locally sourced ingredients. I love the bark with Missouri pecans. The Mexican bark with two types of ground Chile pepper gives the sweet chocolate a kick. The truffles and the caramels are awesome too! I have attended the chocolate tasting event and a chocolate making class given by the owner. Both were educational, Fun and yummy!

Yummy! It's awesome that you can see the staff make the chocolate and be able to have it fresh! Kakao chocolate is delicious and there are many types of chocolate to choose from. There's great gift options available if you're shopping for others and you can spoil yourself as well :) There's dark chocolate, milk chocolate, carmel, nuts, and some interesting flavors that are uncommon but good nonetheless.

I love to buy my friends' and family birthday and Christmas presents here because who doesn't want some beautiful chocolate treats? But it's usually hard to leave without buying a treat for myself as well. Especially because they always have samples of something amazingly delicious! My favorites would definitely be their dark chocolate covered salted caramels, marshmallows and just about any truffle. If you have the opportunity to take one of their tasting classes, do it! It's very informative as far as chocolate making in general and how they do it there. Plus, you get to eat chocolate!

They host private chocolate tastings in the evening and it was a great event for me to get together with friends and enjoy chocolate. The owner was so knowledgeable about the industry and it was good to hear how he started this second career. Everything is made fresh and taste delicious!
