Long story long?

While traveling abroad on my last day of Vacation, I went to get what I thought was a simplistic hair color. In my excited attempt to be adventurous and experience part of another country's luxury hairsalon practices, I guess I didn't communicate *well enough* on the translation apps (my mistake on not being SUPER EXTRA clear). Due to the miscommunication, hours later, I was boarding my flight home with my dark brunette locks half-bleached and unblended-- a harsh, unfinished product from my ill-fated international salon joyride.

*As soon as* I landed at SFO, I began looking for San Mateo salons that could take me in the next 48 hours to fix my **SOS! HAIR 911!**
I had clients on Monday, and I was giving off something of 90s-summer-SoCal-surfer vibes... Which didn't exactly pair nicely with the level of luxury professionalism I wished to emanate on Monday morning.

*Lorena* came to my rescue. She answered my appointment inquiry, stating she had an afternoon slot available. (I think her good heart felt compelled to help my poor soul, almost entirely out of pity, after seeing my "help me?" photos 😂😉)

After parking in the DT San Mateo Garage, I rounded the corner onto B-Street to locate the salon's super convenient location! (Bonus points if you want to grab boba or coffee on the way in or out of the salon 😁).

The salon space itself is awesome! Lots of natural light, exposed brick, and a little sparkle; cozy, modern, and elegant at the same time. The doors were open to let San Mateo's breeze dance through.

Lorena was extremely warm and welcoming and, after introductions, she jumped right in to rectify my mane-predicament. She was so easy to talk to, like we had always been good friends. She knew exactly what to do, and talked me through my options. We figured out a game plan and she got straight to mixing the color formulas. We chuckled at my international beauty blunder, and chatted about ways to take care of my naturally curly hair. After, she blowdried the 'do, and I could finally stare in awe at the completed blended tones (and breathe a sign of relief!).

I have received so many compliments since the appointment, so I'm thankful for the faux pas that led me to Lorena! As you can rightly imagine, I cannot even begin to recommend "Hair by Lorena" enough for any of your hair care needs: cut, color, keratin, and color-correction. 😁 I will DEFINITELY go see her again for my next service!

I have been to Lorena before for a cut and loved her styling so I returned this time for cut and highlights. I told Lorena I was nervous because my wedding is in a couple months and I wanted it to feel natural, plus I have never colored my hair before.

Lorena recommended a balayage and teasy lights, with a trim and layering to keep length so I can wear my hair down on my wedding day. She did an amazing job - it brightened me up, AND looks so natural! My fiancé loves it too! ☺

Loved Lorena’s work. I have been looking for a specific haircut for years now . No one ( not even in Manhattan where I lived until last year ) was able to give me the style I requested . Lorena gave me the exact style I wanted and modified it to suit me.

Lorena is awesome! Best haircut ever. And she’s super nice and fun to talk to. I’ve been seeing her exclusively for around five years now. She used to work across the street, but now she’s 15 minutes away. It’s worth the drive though! The hair salon is a beautiful open space and the other stylists are very friendly and welcoming.

I have not had a haircut since the pandemic. I finally had the courage to have my hair done and I went to Lorena. She is amazing! Very professional, and really took time to sculpt my hair. Lorena is so good with color! And I always love the cut she does on my hair. She is so talented. I am a non-committer- I don’t like having to go for color every 4 weeks and Lorena gets that. She really listens and advised me on putting just a few highlights in my hair. My hair is shoulder length and very straight. The cut Lorena does is stylish and even though I have fine hair she is able to cut it so it has some body. I just love it. And she’s fun to talk to.

Lorena has been my hairdresser for years and I will follow her wherever she goes! I have curly hair and I like my hair layered because it's the best style for the frame of my face. Lorena is an honest and insanely personable hairstylist. Lorena is the only stylist that I return to consistently and will recommend without hesitation. She's fast, effortless, a real pro, and knows how achieve an outcome that is completely natural and balanced for your head. Most of the chop shops (Supercuts, etc.) aren't worth the $20 if they cut your hair wrong (because they're trying to cattle as many customers through as they possibly can) and you're stuck looking foolish for a month. A good haircut is priceless. Go to Lorena; she's absolutely worth it.

I was referred to Lorena by a family member who has been coloring her hair for several years. She helped fix my botched-job of lightening my hair color (self- inflicted). She corrected my mess and has done a great job. I’ve been going to her for touch ups & to cover my grays ever since. She’ll also adjust my hair color to blend with the seasons, lighter in the summer and darker in the winter. She’s a true color artist!
