Villa Montalvo

I have been to neat temporary art exhibits and concerts inside the building. In front of it, there is a large sprawling lawn that is perfect for picnics. There are art displays, statues, and small gardens scattered throughout.

They have some easy trails here and they are narrow and fun. There are a lot of small redwoods. They keep the path mostly shaded but you can see the sun through their skinniness which is nice.

An awesome place for photos! Love the architectural style, the various plants and the statues! I highly recommend this place if you want some fresh air on a normal weekend!

Gorgeous landscaping even in January with art sculptures placed throughout. I parked in lot 4, grabbed a map,went through the Italian garden with the tall Italian cypress trees, just remember to close the gate. I saw 3 deers barely got my phone out and happened to capture these two. Don’t forget to walk behind the right side of the house. Didn’t get to the trails as I had just done the Bear Creek Redwood reserve earlier, just another reason to come back.

Nice trails. Hikers need to use parking lot 4.

We visited to hike on lookout trail which turn out our favorite place. Trail is easy around 1.4mile in woods. Beautiful natural and shade in hot summer. We brought to lunch so lucky they have laws/garden that give us to stay whole day!!! Art and sculpture around all garden make this place heaven. Italian garden is so peaceful and unique.

Nice spot to hike that isn't too crowded on the weekends. Came 11am on Sat and there were still some spots (park at lot 4). Majority shaded hike with some elevation and a nice view at the top. Neat walking around the villa area too--lots of picture-friendly spots. Family-friendly/safe.

I just adore this beautiful and outstanding hiking area. Montalvo offers so much to so many. You can walk the gorgeous grounds of this mansion, or go on the very many hiking trails that surround it. This is a very spiritual place for me, I heal here in the lovely serenity the redwood trees provide for you.

A gorgeous, gorgeous venue. So great to have this place be open to public. I really enjoyed the trails especially the redwood one. Pleasant hiking experience with great views!

What a wonderful spot that is open to the public. The Saturday we visited there was set-up for a wedding going on, but most parts of the park were still open. It's a great place for a picnic that feels more quiet and secluded than the city parks. Walking around the house and garden is a treat! Parking is not bad and it's free to visit. Be aware that professional photo shoots are not allowed but personal photos are fine.

It’s a beautiful spot, and never seems to get too crowded. There’s a beautiful lawn for group picnics, an outdoor auditorium for summer evening performances, and hiking trails in the hills behind than lead up to a beautiful overlook of the South Bay. A fantastic place to spend an afternoon!

This is a beautiful park with some nice hiking trails. The one complaint, just one item bathroom open at the bottom of the hill. Still worth visiting.

Perfect place for couple or family or young or old to picnic hike walk around or just simply relax in 105 years old mansion courtyard and perfectly maintained garden, enjoy harmony of architecture and nature. Spot Apple spaceship on top the hill. Oh, and free parking.

Terrific shaded hike with small redwoods a great overlook and gardens a creative grounds to meander. Plan ahead and call to visit villa indoors.

Beautiful place to have a picnic, take a hike and enjoy the scenery. There is lots of shaded areas and hiking trails that are dog friendly. The architecture is beautiful and compliments the setting nicely

Great hikes on property. Suitable for young kids ( mild uphill) Views, trees & flowers everywhere. Bring water. Lots of shade too
