Sergeant Derby Park

Historical landmark! It looks like there are plans for evergreen skatepark builders to do another upgrade to the park. Which is a shame because they design the worst parks.

Built in 1976, Derby skatepark in Santa Cruz is one of the oldest skateparks in the world.

It was resurfaced around 10 years ago and locals feared the new concrete might distort the original transitions and lines. I guess preserving it for another 50 years is better than have it crumble away.

The park itself is so fun- obviously there's no ledges or rails or stairs here, you come here to bomb it down the snakerun and pretend you're in the Bones Brigade.

A piece of skateboarding folklore and a definite bucket list park for any skatepark enthusiast.

Nice snake run into a plate, not a bowl. It takes a while to get used to it but can be fun once you do.

I like the Big grassy area for the kids to play soccer and run around. There wasn't a bathroom but there was a porta potty at least which is better than nothing and the skate park area had lots of kids and Families

Derby is Sk8boarding Mecca if you havent Sk8ted the Holly land well your really missing it! I will never forget you ( Eva , Rain, kurbside,& Jake Rest in Peace!

Been skating this park since the 1980's, fun old school skate park. The park also has playgrounds for kids to play.

Ok they have got a great soccer field indoors!!! As you can see there is a tricky & fun skate board park! Plus 2 baseball field's and 2 softball field's. Trails. Dont forget t kiddos u have a playground also !! One word AWESOME!!!!!#

Derby Park is a nice place to bring your friends, family, or just go alone to chill. It has a giant a field of grass to play soccer, or to relax. There is benches scattered along the pathway and a few tables to have a picknick and a nice place to have a birthday party. There is also a decent tennis court and a great skate park. Theres a playground with 4 swings to chill next to or fornyounger children to play on. So far everyone I've met at derby Park was always nice, either at the skate park, tennis court, or just walking on the pathway. Actually there was 1 toddler that gave me one of those death stares. Whenever your down to skate, play tennis, or just go somewhere to have fun, derby Park is always a great place to go!😁😁😁🤪

Place is huge and beautifully maintained. Lots of well behaved off leash dogs. Also a good spot for bird watching

One of the coolest old school skate parks that I have been to. I assume that it has been there since the 1970's. Really pretty area too, kind of hidden as well. It is in a neighborhood and I kept missing it as the gps said, you are here. Where? Then I noticed a small walk way. Fun place for my sons and I to go in Santa Cruz.

First time there to skate the snake run and it is not an easy course. It is difficult to get the feel to the course. There is no coping its mostly smooth banks butu can grind the edges of some parts. Plenty opportunity to learn transition there.

Derby is a great little skatepark! My recommendation is to save your Lures, however tempting. Despite close proximity to a gym and park-texture, I have never noted a single rare Pokemon here.

Best place to sharpen my amateur/novice skills to that of a caliber of sharpness that rivals a surgical scalpel.... It's like the cliff notes or skateboarding for dummies ... I learned so much.... You really can teach an old dog new tricks

A great place to skateboard bike or scooter and plenty of room to BBQ and bring the dogs, just don't expect to find a restroom nearby!
