Dave is full of energy and great info. He also guided our group and saved us hunting for the best trails. There is still a lot of climbing to be had but the shuttle saves your legs for the good stuff. I would highly recommend at least one day riding with Dave, we did 2

Dave is awesome! He is very knowledgeable of the area and knows everything going on in the area with biking. If you're new to the area he can give the best idea of a place to ride in your skill level. Best are the stories on the ride up. Have fun!

Dave is a great guy and made our adventure in Santa Cruz and Monterey just EPIC! The uplift in the bus is really fun, with him telling you all the stories possible and once up in the hill he guided us through the trails and that was awesome!
Highly recommended if you want to have some fun and love mtb!

Sam is an all-around fun and knowledgeable guide. As a first timer I was a little lost on how to track my way back after being dropped off, but Sam spent a good 20 mins outlining the entire demo trails on free maps that he provided. He showed us some secret routes that weren't even listed on the maps! The entire ride up, Sam showed us the good spots to ride as well as the history of MTB that surrounds the Santa Cruz Area. He even gave us the digs on awesome food shops post ride which really hit the spot. I thought that his knowledge and helpfulness really helped me enjoy my first time to Demo Forest and I plan on returning very soon!

I was here from out of town and local shop recommended him for shuttle. Gave him a call and he shortly called back with info on where to meet etc next day, Fathers Day. He showed up early. Loaded everyone’s bikes and away we went all good.
Highly recommend his service. Great upbeat attitude and experienced biker himself. 👍

Super-nice and helpful. He shuttled us for free because we were trail-building as volunteer work. I offered a donation and he refused it. I'm looking forward to using this service again!

Taking the shuttle up near the top really takes a lot of the pain out of riding Demo--it's really nice to skip the long boring climb up the paved road. Even so, there's still a lot of climbing left. Just not nearly as much as you'd have without the shuttle.

Dave is the best! Nobody knows more about the area than him. The mtb ride was great but the company on the drive up was icing on the cake.

If you specifically want to ride up from Highland Way to the top of Bacon Trail down to the road and then to West Ridge Trail and back to Aptos via a few miles of park pavement, this is your guy. If you want to ride some fun trail, Google, "Demo Forest - Parking." Park on Highland way, and ride the flow trail from there for free.

When I called ShuttleSmith in the morning I told him my wife was advanced beginner to intermediate and we were looking for something where we could park in the Demo lot and get a shuttle to take us to the top of the Demo Forest Flow Trail because my wife crashed in Downieville last week and her hip was still bothering her. Immediately he began talking me out of that and I regret everything from that point on.

We could have driven to the parking and ridden an amazing trail for free, but ShuttleSmith needed beer money and proceeded to waste part of our day to secure it. He claimed the flow trail would be 3000' total climbing to get "back" to the car and this would be better because he would drop us at the top of Buzzard Lagoon road, which was correct. This was not the implied "top" of the climb, only the beginning of the climb. We basically climbed the equivalent of the vertical of the flow trail and didn't get to ride the actual flow trail. We did however ride a completely wasted "intermediate" trail that was terrible for my wife that would have been great for me had it not been terrible for my wife.

When we got out of the truck at the "top" I asked for a few clarifications and he revealed the West Ridge trail has a sign on it that says no bikes, but everyone rides it. Great. BTW that is the best part of the DH for a weak intermediate rider. $60 is $60 and misdirection is misdirection.
