Penny the receptionist is AWESOME. In an age when so many bookings happen online only, Penny is a real breath of fresh air and she’s a solid professional. Jason is an amazing hair stylist too. He really listens to what I want and responds well. Red is typically hard to get right but he has consistently done it, even when I ask to change the shade a bit. I’ve never been great at being a regular at a spot for my hair but I think it’s because I haven’t found Stranded before.

This place is SERIOUSLY THE BEST HAIR SALON IVE EVER BEEN TO! Whether it's dying or cutting or both, it always turns out even better than I'd hoped. Incredible work and incredible customer service. I always feel safe and welcome here, and come out with incredible hair. THIS is the place to go!

One of the best salons in town. Nowhere else will leave you feeling so good and cleaned up. All of the artists are incredible at hair and whatever else they specialize in. I would 1000% recommend this spot if your looking for any hair cut/style/color they have it all down! Super worth the time energy and money, you will be glad you stopped by the Stranded Beauty Bar for your tranquil experience and cosmetic needs!

I don’t want more people going to Roxanne for color (haircuts are great too) or Jason who also is great but the truth is the truth and they deserve kudos for not only the great hairdressers they are in a town of many untrained, mediocre hairstylists but for running a top notch salon. Their long time receptionist, Penny, is also excellent. So you are in capable hands. It took me years to find them once I moved here after living in big cities where you can find properly trained people. Roxanne was trained by the best in Los Angeles and had passed that on to her husband, Jason. I go to her for Balayage, a type of streaking that is more natural looking. It is as good as anywhere else in the world I have been and I’ve been to the best salons in Paris, New York, and other major cities in the world. So if you have been frustrated by the level of quality here in Santa Cruz, this is a salon and two people who are at that top level.

Emily was able to get my youngest daughter in at the last minute, which is often hard to find with a more upscale salon. She was terrific and cut my daughter's hair so precise and beautifully! She is friendly and knowledgeable, which was awesome! The environment at Stranded is great and all of the staff was so kind and made you feel welcomed. We are from out of town, but if we were ever in town again and needed a hair cut, we would definitely choose Stranded Beauty Bar!! Thank you to Emily!! Gaelle LOVES her hair❤

Jason cut my hair and exceeded my expectations, I live in Long Beach, and make my hair appointments at Stranded when I'm town.

Jason and his staff at Stranded Beauty Bar are absolutely amazing. I was originally referred to Jason by a friend of a friend after having two bad experiences getting extensions elsewhere. I called Stranded Beauty Bar and was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist Penny Who explained that prior to making an appointment to get extensions I need to come in for a consultation. She asked me if I could come in that evening for my consultation which I did. I was greeted by Jason himself and he took a look at my hair and gave me some suggestions and explained how he does extensions. When it came to putting me on the calendar to get actually get my hair done, I told him that my birthday was in a few days and I was really hoping to get my hair done before then. This consultation was done on Wednesday. Jason took a look at his calendar and told me he would make some phone calls and rearrange his schedule to make sure that I could get my hair done prior to my birthday and he fit me in at 8 o'clock Friday morning. He took the time and care to make sure my hair was done to my satisfaction and looked fabulous. I could not be more pleased with both the customer service and the quality of Jason's work. Stranded Beauty Bar is a wonderful salon And the staff is amazing they made me feel right at home. I give them 6 stars!!!!

New salon in the new city I just moved to. I was given an appointment with Mindy, and asked for a pixie cut. That's a difficult cut but she knocked it out of the park. Great cut walking out of the salon and it grew out into a gorgeous haircut over the upcoming weeks. She showed me how to use products to enhance it as well. Besides being good at her job, she's also friendly and pleasant, as was the rest of the staff. This is my new go-to salon!

Very clean and very friendly, professional staff and stylists! I have been looking for someone to cut my curly hair forever and was so excited to find Roxann! If you're looking for someone to cut your curly I would definitely recommend! She executed my vision perfectly and I will definitely be back to support!

Amazing salon. I had a great experience last week (1/17). All of the stylist have wonderful energy and the place has a great vibe. As a guy, it is often tough to get haircuts. Emily was my stylist and she did a fantastic job on my fade. Everything was lined up perfectly and she recommended great products for me based on my hair type. She was very informative, but yet was also willing to listen to my needs as well. The icing on the cake was it was all done for a price much less than some of the higher end salons. Highly recommend this salon!

Jason is the best! He modestly said he doesn’t claim to be a curly hair specialist and then proceeded to give me the best hair cut in all my 26 years of curly hair ownership. Also he’s super nice, and gave me a bunch of recommendations for local restaurants. Plus beer. Plus everyone who works here is very sweet. What’s not to love!

I have been i loyal client ever since.

I also like that her assistant. Michael can step in do color and cuts etc under her direction if she is booked.

Roxanne is magic!! She was so good at figuring out what I wanted (even if I wasn't quite sure!) and making it happen, effortlessly. She is incredibly talented at cut, color and styling. I'll definitely be going back.

What can I say.... Jason is truly a master of his craft. He may seem casual and laidback, but every snip of those scissors is precise and calculated. Leaving you with a high quality, amazing cut....every time. Not only is he a quality stylist and barber, but he's an equally quality human being, local business owner and family man as well. Im more than happy to support his business!

Stranded Beauty Bar is my favorite place to be stranded! Centrally located, parking is easy. I feel relaxed the minute I walk in. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun loving. Roxann is simply the best. Her professional, personalized service is excellent. She does wonders with hair color! Working with curly hair and styling is second nature to her and

Hands down the BEST salon I’ve ever been to. From the beautiful beachy location with easy parking, to the very thorough receptionist with mimosa greetings in hand, the hospitality is on point. The salon is beautiful- tastefully painted and always has inspiring local artwork to view. Over the years Roxann has been a master with my neurotic light to dark hair moods always giving me the color I want with maintaining the integrity of my hair. Whether she uses foils or balayage for a more natural look she’s a scientist with a sense of humor. It’s a hair appointment with a comedic relief! Her cuts and blowouts leave you feeling like a movie star AND she rocks the curly hair like no one can. All the stylists at Stranded are phenomenal- talented and sweet. I love the family vibes. Grew up in Santa Cruz and I’ll never get my hair done anywhere else!
