We had a great time here trying some great fusion options! The Korean Poke was great, too! I loved how open air the dinning area is and is was really fun to look out on the play area in the Barlow.

Great service, really good food- glad we tried this place out. We ordered a lot of food for the $50 per person- this place offers the chance to pig out on Sushi and not wear out your wallet.

This is some of the best sushi we have had in Northern California. It was very surprising because we did not expect such good sushi to be here in Sevastopol. The location of the restaurant is a little small so we had a little wait but it’s in an awesome outdoor mixed market and shopping area called the Barlow and we easily killed some time walking and sitting by the park next door. Two or three fun looking bars in the vicinity.

The food was excellently prepared with high quality ingredients. This is not a $150 omakase type of experience, but for its class of family style accessible Japanese places, the food is more than solid, it’s exquisite and at a reasonable price compared to similar places all throughout the Bay Area.

The standout was the 15 spices ribs appetizer. Perfectly prepared, seared outside and tender outside, impressed our international table. The sushi is also made with great fish. This time I didn’t try any special toro but the quality of the fish makes me think there is a secretly overtalented chef in the back taking it one step at a time to deliver what’s needed for a family commumity. This is awesome and not a crazy price at about $40 per person including tip and tax for five people for a fantastic dinner.

Easy parking here lots of free parking at the Barlow. Try to make a reservation ahead of time if you can!

The food here is really terrific. The seaweed salad and the ribs are standouts, but it’s all good. The tempura shrimp roll! And the very creative matcha cake with black sesame ice cream-sublime! I’ve eaten here three times and it’s all been great.

Excellent sushi at this location in the Barlow! We've been a few time and have loved every dish we've tried. Definitely check this place out!

A dining delight for birthday celebration. We shared everything: two kinds of chicken, spinach with sesame (I always must have this), ribs, salmon sushi roll, a California type roll, two small carafes of sake, a side of rice, an unusual and very wonderful salad with mushrooms, and the best (as always) perfectly prepared freshest calamari anywhere. And a cupcake shaped desert with sesame ice cream. This is a great place for a special occasion focused on the texture and taste of uniquely prepared food and quiet enough for good conversation. Cost $70 per person (for 4 people) - a bargain considering the quality, quantity and variety .

We have dined here for lunch and dinner several times now and not once have we been disappointed. Today’s visit was no different, as everything was so fresh and delicious. This visit, we ordered the chilled spinach and Japanese eggplant as starters. Both were excellent and I loved the sweet miso glaze and walnut combination with the fire roasted eggplant. For our mains, we ordered the chili tofu donburi and the Cali poke donburi. I can’t stop thinking about the sweet glaze on the citrus tofu and vegetables and my husband loved the Cali poke. We are definitely already planning our next visit. Also, if you’re a fan or ribs, order the 15 spice spare ribs. You can thank me later.

The restaurant industry in general, but especially those who operate restaurants in the Barlow, have weathered many literal and metaphorical storms in the past few years. From floods to a global pandemic, I just want to commend small business owners like those at Sushi Kosho, for their ceaseless pursuit of excellence and service. I have so much respect for Chef Jake Rand and the unique and delectable dishes he’s creating at Kosho and now Oyster. Reading over some of the negative reviews on here just makes me feel like these people may have unrealistic expectations of service or they have clearly never worked in the service or restaurant industry. One thing I can say for sure is that if you do not dine here, you will be missing out.

Top notch sushi as far as I could tell; everything we ordered was fresh and tasty, and the menu seemed to reflect traditional Japanese food values. I'll have to try it a few more times for a more complete review

2nd visit and both times excellent—super fresh sashimi, great speciality roll, and matcha butter cake to die for! Didn’t care too much for the too spicy edamame (by itself) but brought it home and ate it with brown rice—delish. Friendly attentive service. Nice spacious interior and loved the outdoor fire pit patio. Will return!

Looking for lunch while running errands and found this unique restaurant. Greeted by a friendly hostess and a great server named Nicki. The pork belly and kimchi bowl were filling and delicious. A carafe of sake was perfect for a really enjoyable lunch. Fantastic.

Super fresh. Really good personable service. Clean. No loud music. Wine list has a great mix of local and international that mostly suits the food. I’d add a Gruner-Veltiner just to round out the pairing power. Sake list is lovely; nice to have a carafe of quality cold sake at an affordable price too.

We recently returned to Kosho. We went there about a month after they opened and enjoyed it. But on this visit we love it. The sushi is good, the starters are fantastic. Certainly the best seafood salad we've had in the U.S. and rivals anything we've had in Japan. The service was great.

Fun sushi - yes, delicious and fun. I snuck in here on a weeknight because hubby was gone, and what a fun place. The chef, who I hear is from everywhere great, knocks out innovative sushi, and those bacon wrapped mochi balls are really tasty. I only had the red dragon roll with that really tasty onion sauce, and some wagyu (A5 - how do they get this??), I wish I was hungrier or with more people. The chef is very entertaining. Honestly, such high quality - this place is amazing. Loved every bite.

After visiting Japan my love of high-quality sushi intensified - I was thrilled to discover Sushi Kosho, the best sushi in Sonoma County. The quality of the fish is excellent, the rice spot-on, and the presentation beautiful (although I usually get nigiri so quality is far more important to me than presentation). In addition to the sushi the non-raw items I tried were incredible - the flavors complemented each other perfectly - so this is a great place to come even if someone in your party isn’t into sushi, there are a lot of options to chose from and every single one that my group tried was loved from the first bite. The seaweed salad was incredible and had the largest variety of seaweed that I’ve seen in an American restaurant.

Unbelievable! Fresh , each piece was perfect texture. We tried the truffle yellowtail sashimi, expensive but worth all 4 bites of pure perfection.
We also got the sushi sashimi combination, plenty of food and reasonable. Handrolls loaded. There was some delay, but service was attentive and apologetic. Best sushi I've had this side of the Pacific!

This place is amazing. We tried many dishes off the menu. The pancake was delicious and unlike anything we have seen or tried before, all the rolls we ordered were delicious. I love the use of Yuzu throughout the menu, can’t wait to go back.
