California Virtual Academies

I'm super happy to have chosen CAVA, San Joaquin for my 3rd grader. We love the curriculum and access to the digital library (Epic) for kids that offers a plethora of books.

We love this online version of public school more than the local public school because of the flexibility, curriculum, and resources. Most importantly, our homeroom teacher, Ms. Lisa Marie Rountree.

My 3rd grader never stops praising how super kind, friendly and amazing she is in teaching. She comes up with fun ways of teaching everyday, which I'm sure keeps the children engaged and focused. We love the positive affirmations song played first thing everyday in the morning.

My kid would choose Ms.Rountree over any teacher she had ever been taught till now. I believe it's the teachers who contribute to the major part of the success of any school and I'm sure CAVA is lucky to have found a treasure like her. Happy parent and child here. Best wishes, CAVA!

This is my third year working here, and I am settled and going nowhere. I can teach anywhere I want, but I chose here and I'm glad I did. Administrators truly care, the parents and families are awesome, and it's just an amazing and innovative place to work! Kids learn a plethora of academics with a lot of support!

Definitely consider California Virtual Academy for your student! We are in Santa Clara County, which falls under the umbrella of CAVA @San Mateo and have had a wonderful experience! Do your research so you can learn all that they offer. This is not a "home school" program -- you do not have to personally teach your student! Their day is filled with scheduled Class Connect sessions with a live teacher and virtual classroom full of students like them. This is a tuition-free public California Charter School - even the computer and accessories are loaned at no charge. Classes (with few exceptions) meet A-G college requirements and there are many available which aren't taught in public "brick-and-mortar" schools. Academic Intervention and tutoring is available at a moment's notice. The new interface shows you how your student spends every minute of their time and you can view their progress and grades on a day-to-day basis. Even Special Education services and Individualized Education Plans are no problem. The one real drawback is there aren't a lot of opportunities for social interaction in person - but that's changing! Other families may have a different experience, especially those during the last major interface upgrade, but the new parent portal is up and running smoothly - check it out for yourself! Students can join the school at any point during the school year.

Teachers and students get more one on one when needed to ask those important questions but most importantly my child learns in an environment he feels safe in-home. He has all the tools he needs through CAVA to study and learn on his own terms to a degree allowing him to shine. He has made friends for life through class connect sessions with 100s of other students and has been able to share and ask questions with his peers. He is excelling. What more can a parent ask for? PS~ He is not bullied anymore!

Both my boys are actors and CAVA allows them the flexibility to work. We have been with K12 since 2012. Both my kids test advanced in state testing (if that means anything). My older son is now in high school honors classes which are recognized by the US system. We've tried K12, AAS (Academy of Arts and Sciences, Thousand Oaks) it did not compare to CAVA. CAVA is awesome! Both my boys will probably graduate from high school through CAVA.

I love my school because I get to work at my own pace. This allows me to go fast in some subjects while others I may take longer. If I need help, my teacher are just an email away. They get back to you fast and are always willing to help.

California Virtual Academy (CAVA) is a great school and offer the kids every opportunity to succeed if they are willing to put in the work.

There is no other online school like CAVA. The teachers are wonderful and the curriculum is top notch. They provide everything you need - computer, printer, textbooks, workbooks, art supplies, science supplies, music, foreign language for middle school.

The best program ever. I would definitely recommend it , CAVA is helping my daughter achieve her goals and to keep her good grades.

I love the k12 school of choice program. I several gr. Children that are in k12 cava and I believe it gives best alternative to public education. I have more control over thier education.

I am a student at California virtual academy and I really enjoy this school it’s the best online school and the teacher and everyone who helps are wonderful they are so nice the curriculum is also very wonderful the homework they give is not to much it’s just right

best school there could possibly be! i love how everythignsyncs up to my own learning techniques. it is so much more clear to me now! you need to try this school its the best!

We absolutely loved CAVA. It is by far the best virtual school offered thru K12.

Best choice I could've made for my daughter! Caught her up on her grades helped her concentrate more and teachers care more and are more helpful .

This is our first year and so far we love it. I really see the focus on her education and her grades show just that.

Im a student here and the school is pretty great. A little to much homework but im getting the hang of it.
