Animas Museum

Absolutely LOVE this place!!!
It's free admission + the guide was super great!

Visiting this museum demonstrates hiw Durango was at the cutting edge of the country’s movement westward. Many relevant and unique items in the collection, including 2 small houses in the museum’s yard. One unexpected pleasant surprise was the museum docent; he makes history come alive.

People were friendly and knew a lot about the history. It was a fun time. The kids were surprised by some of the things they learned. Good Time

Fun lil museum! Don't miss the Cabin!

The exhibits are especially interesting and colorful, including skillful flavoring of the wild west days of law(less?) enforcement, and a fine restoration of the adjacent homestead cabin. The staff are wonderfully helpful, knowledgeable and considerate.

The museum is well put together. The history is described through stories which makes it fun and enjoyable to read as you walk through the exhibits.

This place is terrific. Although modest in size the exhibits are wonderful and varied. The staff is very helpful and it's an easy trolley ride from downtown Durango.

Fun museum with interesting artifacts from old schools, firefighters, sheriffs, etc. I particularly enjoyed the history of firefighting and Old West crime in the area.
