McMenamins Spar Café

A nice bustling downtown and time for lunch! I like atmosphere, which is all subjective, I know, and Spar has history. Grabbed a small booth in the window and we ordered quickly. RC Cola! That is a taste from our past, grandparents and parents introduced us to the taste. Burger sliders and truffle fries made a filling, and very tasty, lunch treat. Drop in and sit a while

I am about four or five bites into my salad and just had to write a review. This is the best salad I have ever eaten. It’s the Caesar salad and it’s just perfect. ( I added cucumber to mine). I had Heidi as a server and she was such a sweet soul and amazing waiter!

My favorite spot for Brunch in Olympia so I’m a little biased. Got here after 1pm today so brunch is over, but I got a pic of the lunch menu. It is an old school vibe diner, not Americano metal trailer diner, but great hall with long wooden bar and booths and nooks n crannies. Staff very polite. Food is great. Highly recommend. Bonus: they observe the FIVE EASY PIECES mentality (nod to an old Jack Nicholson film): it wasn’t brunch, but since they served a steak on the lunch menu and eggs on a burger, they made me steak & eggs. Gotta love it.

Fabulous food and great service.
We thoroughly enjoyed the eggs benedict and classic breakfast. Highly recommend their biscuits and pancakes which are so well made.
Had good burgers here too and excellent fries.
The restaurant has a long and interesting history as well as a great atmosphere which makes you feel like you're stepping back in time.

A really nice place for food, and games, or both.

They have great variety, a happy hour, and some very talented cooks. We tried the Regular Burger and the Tater Tots.

Atmosphere:9/10
A dive bar/whiskey sipping room vibe. Honestly it was great! Not too noisy or crowded. Though I'll say it might be a little busy for some people who just wanna relax and have a quiet dinner.

Games: 10/10
They have Shuffleboard, Pool, and a couple pin ball machines (Tron Legacy and X-Men themed). Really has something for everyone.

Drinks: 10/10
They have the normal selection any bar should have, but many custom and seasonal ones too. They also brew their own beer and ciders. Tried the Blackberry Cider and it was excellent.

Overall really like this place. I'll be back!

The atmosphere! Very cozy, private feel, and beautiful with wrought iron, plants, books, and gorgeous nook sofa at the front for larger party of people. Service was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Food was quality and delicious with great prices! Love this place. Everything fresh. The cider and beer I tried were very good not too sweet! Our server Emillie S. was amazing!!!!!

Great food, better service in a historic setting with true period pieces to get you in a nostalgic mood. Family-owned by the McMenamin brothers this cafe in Olympia serves tasty drinks that help take you back in time to a friendlier time. Stop by for a burger or just a drink and don’t forget to check the dessert menu.

Root beer ice cream float, dungeon burger and black and tan brownie Sunday are a must!!

such an amazing atmosphere inside, no wonder the place is so popular! staff was so kind and welcoming, food was tasty and the overall experience just brought a lot of joy for us. at first we thought that the prices were a bit on the higher end but once i saw my rice bowl the size of my head i realised that it was more than justified. and my dad absolutely loved his pepperoni pizza. 10/10

I really enjoyed the decor, staff, and the food was amazing. I would 100% recommended. Especially their garlic fries with the aioli. They have a pool table which is a great idea for a night out with friends. A really great place I will definitely be going here again.

First time here and am pretty pleased with the quality for the price, you can definitely spend quite a bit more and get a lot less. I had the salmon eggs Benedict and would highly recommend. Not too crowded and no long wait times for a Sunday morning.

We enjoyed the cheeseburger sliders, Jamaican rice bowl, and kids fish and chips! No disappointment with anything except my cocktail was a bit of let down (the abiding dude) I guess I am just used to making my own white Russians at home.

Just left this establishment, My wife and I took our son and his Girlfriend out to breakfast this morning, and I have to say this place was absolutely amazing. Great food, nice portions, nice atmosphere, and our waitress was sweet. We did have about a 10 minute wait but we did show up during midmorning traffic. Two thumbs up, I would definitely recommend!!! (P.S. my wife is unbelievably picky when it comes to breakfast and she loved it as well!)

Absolutely incredible lil gem. Love the older diner vibe. Burgers are large, and rice bowl is so outta place, but so well executed. Wish I had ordered one too, but with the large portion sizes, there is more for later

I have only stayed for drinks but I love the aesthetic. Drinks are a bit pricey but expected.

Spur of the moment decision to go out to breakfast with my friend. It's been a long time since I've been out for breakfast and I'm glad we decided on McMenamins or the Spar as I still call it. I even stepped out of my comfort zone and tried my friends dish.

The servers were super nice and the environment is funky and fun. Super cozy seating and atmosphere. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was super filling, I only ate half of it.

If you go at lunch or dinner I recommend the Cajun tator tots, delicious!

The food is great, with great service. The waitress was very helpful and made sure we were doing good and if we needed anything. The biscuits had been amazing and filling. Love the atmosphere. Definitely coming back. Going to try the chicken fried steak. Until next time.....

Absolutely the best spot in town for breakfast. The French toast is to die for. Plus, service is always friendly and the place is beautiful. Couldn't recommend more

Bloody Mary mix had too much celery in it for me but the menu in general is excellent. Oyster shooters were divine!

This was a win win for sure! Great warm greeting as soon as you enter the door! Server was great, the food was tasty and hot too! Well be going there again for sure. I wish I knew who our server was to give her kuddos. Older lady with blonde curls and nice smile.. Thanks!😊🫠
