What If... of Hershey

Great atmosphere in the restaurant, though is in a weird location, underneath the checking area of a Howard Johnson Motel. You walk right between the desk and the room where the do the free continental breakfast and take stairs down to the basement. But once there, it is a unique experience. A little pricey, but worth every penny. The food was amazing, lamb cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes and green beans that were fresh and cooked perfectly. We shared a pan fried scallops appetizer, though way too pricey for the quantity you got,, was cooked perfectly they melted in your mouth with a raspberry sauce drizzled on the plate. Never would of thought raspberry with scallops, but it was the perfect contrast on the palette.The staff couldn't have been more gracious. And the dining room itself was perfect for anything from a romantic dinner, celebration, or just a food lover wanting a nice quiet spot. I will definitely go there regularly

Celebrated our 43rd Anniversary here. Our Server was absolutely delightful, the atmosphere is cozy, however, (we did smell mold as this restaurant is below grade) the food was delectable!!! The Owner is very sweet and friendly, too!

100% the gold standard for fine dining in Hershey and the surrounding area. We are local and patronize this hidden gem 2-3 times a week, due to the fact that nothing in the area compares to What If!

WE HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL OR BAD SERVICE DURING APPROXIMATELY 50 VISITS!!!

Don’t sleep on this family owned business, we did for 2-3 years and don’t forgive ourselves!!!

My husband and I always come here on Valentine's day. The food is always amazing. Service was great. We can't say enough great things. My husband loves the pork chops. I got the cheese ravioli and it was so creamy and delicious.

New years eve, called for take out...too busy for them to do it due to the large rush of people with Reservations. This place held us a last min table! The decorations were beautifully done ✔ 👌 the food is always amazing, drinks are strong and delicious, servers are very friendly and quick service! They go the extra mile to make sure you are happy and comfortable, thank you for that!! I will definitely be back with friends and family !

Excellent food, service and good prices. Highly recommended! Had the huge handmade burger and fresh cut fries, risotto with lemon scallops with fresh thyme....and the empty plate? Gorgonzola salad...yum!

I don’t know how this restaurant is not rated 5 stars, must be professional food critics giving out these reviews. I have visit this place multiple times and I can highly recommend them. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive and let me and my fiancé know the chefs specials for the day. I went with the filet mignon with the vegetable medley of the day and mashed pot. The filet was so soft to cut I honestly could’ve shredded it with my fork! My fiancé order the baked seafood and he loved it! The chef and sous chef are extremely talented and I give my props to the restaurant owner. This business is ran very professionally and I will most definitely be coming back.

My daughter and I had dinner here after unintentionally finding because a
our initial choice for dinner was too crowded. We were happily surprised with the service, ambiance, wait staff, drinks and, most importantly, the food. Oh my gosh, we had the small plates (pan seared scallops and crab dip) so we had room to enjoy the scrumptious desserts! Next time, What If will be our first choice. We will be back!

We made reservations for Valentine’s Day at 7:30pm, so of course they were busy. After someone came to see us at the host station, we were seated very quickly. Our server was very nice and the food was delicious. Definitely a “treat yourself” kind of place because of the prices. But very worth it for a special night out. And the berry cobbler was outstanding.

If you don’t know now you know! don’t judge from outside the place is great and food amazing. To the host Erin on taking us last min for a party of 6 without any hesitation and got us a table quickly. I have had the pleasure of eating here on several different occasions and it is excellent every time. The service, food, and overall atmosphere is tremendous. My wife and I really love the crab dip, lobster ravioli, and the steaks!

Super nice place. Amazing Lamb Chops and some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. Ribeye steak was delicious as well.

The restaurant is on the basement of the Howard Johnson Inn. Our first time in Hershey, PA and to What If restaurant. We ordered the bone in rib eye steak and the lamp chops. They were well seasoned and delicious. Service was outstanding.

Everything I ordered on the menu was cooked fresh and was delicious. I stayed at the Howard Johnson Hotel which is connected to the restaurant so I got to enjoy eating at the restaurant a few times. The drinks too were made perfectly I liked the fact that I could take my drink to my room if I wanted to finish it there and the staff would then take my glass the next day. Very convenient and also the courtyard was beautifully set up as well.

My recently discharged from hospital disabled husband and I had dinner there recently. The entire staff was so accommodating for my husband. The food was "to die for" and we are former restaurant owners. Special thanks to Brooke and Felix, Many Blessings and Happy Holidays

Service was great. My steak was overcooked, but regardless of that is was very good. The portions of everything were large. My friend and I shared everything. We had fried pickles, Mac n cheese, and a bone in ribeye steak. It was all very yummy.

We loved 'what if', our server was good (I can't remember his name). The kitchen really delivered in the food for both quality and presentation. I had the baked brie and the lobster ravioli. The server recommended a great wine for my meal. I would definitely go here again.

I seriously have nothing negative to say about this place. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and thorough. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Amazing find, unexpected as a restaurant attached to HowardJohnsons. Had the Baklava Martini (drink faster before it separates, but tasty!), lollipop lamb bites (excellent tzaziki sauce), baked brie (totally craveable), crab dip (with JUMBO lumps of crab and artichoke - yum!), mini crab cakes (with VERY delicious pesto and aioli sauce) for appetizer. Dinners were lobster ravioli in a fabulous FRESH tomato cream sauce, fettucini alfredo sauce was flavorful and light without being watery or too dry - excellently balanced (i added the crabmeat - in jumbo lump again!), chicken pesto with sundried tomatoes and pine nuts with a crumbly goat/feta cheese (delish!), and the salmon du jour, this time with a raspberry sauce (sauce was fresh, flavorful, chutney style - great flavors, salmon was perfectly flaky and moist, but my daughter learned she likes to keep her salmon savory, not sweet).

This is a not to be missed foodie spot if you are in the area!

Came to Hershey for a summer vacation, and this was by far the best restaurant we ate at. Started out with the crab dip appetizer, a ton of melted cheese and crab meat in a bread bowl. Entree was a veal shank with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Everything I ordered was delicious. My friends loved their meals as well.

I don’t usually eat desserts, but in Hershey PA I felt obligated to order one. Got something called Profiterole, an enormous cream puff filled with ice cream and topped with melted chocolate and pretzel bits. Even as someone who doesn’t usually care for sweets, I really liked it.

After 6 hours of driving to Hershey, this meal was the highlight of our day. Easily 5 stars.
