I was very upset to find that the kids wouldn't get their final day of school. My son was expecting another day to say goodbye to his friends and get more signatures in his yearbook. He also kept talking about missing a talent show and the final field day as well. Sad to see the school let the knucklehead who dropped the bullet win.

Not all kids hate school! Would have been appropriate to give the kids one last day to say goodbye to friends and teachers in an attempt to end things on a positive note. Would have been awesome if the school leaders took the time to step up and rally the kids with some words of hope and comfort concerning what had happened. My son just seemed confused and baffled by the abrupt end to his school year. Gun violence in school is so very real- I can't believe the school did nothing to address what had happened! Something should have been done for these kids, but I feel like no one in a position of power cared to stick their head out for them in this moment of crisis. I feel like the school failed the children on such an important issue. It angers and disappoints me so much that they literally chose to end the school year with a bullet.

This is going to seem trivial compared to the topic above, but something that really got me riled up about this school was student pickup. Parents wouldn't move their vehicles forward while waiting, and they didn't circle around and free up room when there wasn't enough room to move forward, so people just parked at the entrance not allowing anyone else in and it created dangerous backup on to Buckeye. The line would be so bad that people would enter through the exit- ridiculous and dangerous! I watched as people would loop a u-turn from the entrance to exit after their kids walked all the way down to the street, through the incoming mess of cars. When people are coming in through the exit, looping u-turn in the worst possible places, kids walking in front of moving cars- there a very real possibility of an accident happening! All the while, the doofy security guard watches it all happen- not saying a word, or directing any traffic - just sitting there with his elbow rested on his knee trying to look tough. What an absolute joke. What's the point of the guy even being there? That's a poor investment! Why can't we get someone out there directing traffic? Directing the kids? Does no one care about safety here?

All in all, this is a decent school education-wise. I feel like my son gets a good education here. He's never complained and he's an honor roll student, so I don't have much to complain about there. I just have a huge problem with the way they chose to let the bullet bully end the school year and dangerous pickup situation. Safety and peace of mind should be #1.
