Love Japanica, easily one of the most affordable, yet most delicious place to get Sushi in the surrounding area. the atmosphere is quaint but you can still get a little noisy with friends or family without worrying about other patrons getting upset, they also has a side/private room for small groups if you request it - 90% of the seating is designed as four seater booths and the lighting is warm yet dim - just enough to see everything you need to see yet not so dark that it'll hurt to adjust your eyes when you exit the building.

all in all just a great place to grab lunch, or dinner and a drink if heading over with a friend I recommend the Scorpion bowl for two

The service was excellent. Our server was patient even though we asked a bunch of questions about what we were eating. The sushi boat was solid and all the fish was fresh. We also got steamed gyoza that had a ton of flavor. Great experience, but the only problem was that we were the only patrons there! To some I bet that’s a good thing though, and to be fair, it was a Wednesday night.

We’ve been going to this Sushi Restaurant for years. We usually sit in or order out several times a month. They never disappoint. Very friendly staff, great/fresh food, clean environment, and reasonable prices. They also accommodate gluten restrictions! And easy parking! We highly recommend them to anyone.

Best sushi and teriyaki we could find in this area. We love to get lunch bento takeout here, occasionally we dine in and the service was excellent.

The food was good and the place is so cute. It needs to be organized better. It is clean, but there are areas with clutter which takes away from the atmosphere.

Japanica II Middletown: The ambience of the restaurant was very nice and felt clean and well maintained. The food was well priced and very filling. I personally recommend the sweet potato roll for those who like a somewhat savory taste. The service was also very quick, didn’t have to wait more than 15 minutes.

Fantastic as always! Angry roll, Monkey Roll, Sashimi, Sushi, and Scorpion Bowl we're all awesome! The staff are super friendly and attentive. This IS our favorite place to go for this kind of yummy food.

Absolutely my fav Japanese spot in Middletown. As soon as I enter it reminds me of the mom and pops back home. Servers are always kind and welcoming, and food is always served promptly and plated beautifully. It’s so hard to find Asian spots out here that offer consistency across all their dishes, and Japanica does. Their prices are also reasonable!

Loved the atmosphere here, they have private rooms for comfort , and my favorite was the fresh tea in the pot and the cute tiny cup 🍵 haha , the little things I guess ? But yes it was very affordable and had a cozy atmosphere, I definitely recommend this place

I lived in Japan, and while it's far to consider Japanica "American Japanese" (it's all imitation crab), it's my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. The sushi is fresh, the yakisoba tastes just how I remember it, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I've enjoyed everything that I have tried. In addition to the food, they have a selection of sake, Japanese beers, and Japanese sodas - I don't drink, so I can't comment on them. I do recommend, if you have room after dinner, the frozen dessert menu! Sorbets and ice creams that they purchase in bulk, but yum! Really tasty and large servings though (you can plan on sharing).

Great service! Even better sushi! They just reopened the dining room, so there weren't too many others dining. But our sushi was delicious. The Caribbean and paradise rolls were especially delicious, and we were both surprised at how much we liked the dragon Maki! We will definitely be back!

Japanica is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. I’ve gotten many different things on their menu including sushi and it’s always great. A huge bonus is that they’re so good with my 3 year old, he loves going with me on little lunch dates.

Everything was great excellent. We love this place, we used to live in Middletown years ago and would come here once a month. Now we only get to come maybe once or twice a year. The consistency is amazing, we are always impressed everytime.
My son did order the yaki soba noodles for the first time and the serving size was bigger then he expected and he told the waitress 4 times how much he enjoyed it.
If you're in the area I highly recommend this restaurant, excellent food and service and a nice break from the downtown area.

Amazing sushi/sashimi, excellent service, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and I paid way less than I was expecting to. Seriously couldn't be happier. (It also looks like they have a fairly broad, affordable selection of sakes and cocktails, though I didn't try those.)

I've been going to Japanica since they've opened. Still one of the best places for sushi. Friendly staff and great service. Just tried one of their new soups... Spicy noodle. Fantastic. Can't wait to have it again.
