Wow on the taste buds, the food was amazing. The spice was perfect without needing to adjust. Location is remote, and you can smell the cooking; was worth it!

The best vegetarian South Indian food in America, not just in Connecticut. I have tried South Indian food in different restaurants across the country but no other restaurant comes close to Udupi Bhavan. The owner, Prabakar ji is very gentle and hardworking. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try authentic South Indian food.

I occasionally travel 40min to come here for lunch. South Indian food here Never disappoints. Here is a sample Rava dosa, Poori Bhaji and podi idly taken. Rava dosa is very crispy and perfectly roasted. Poori baaji is great. Coffee spot on! Do give it a try.

The food was absolutely amazing. The Samosas were fried to perfection with the potato filling sublimely smooth; peas and seasoned just right. An array of sauces from spicy to sweet. The Chana Marsala with oh so good curry was delish and paired with basmati rice was the best combination. And did I mention, the host and owners are the nicest people ever! We will be back!! And vegan!!! Heck yeah!!!

Very close to Authentic Indian food. I could even say it was one of the best I had in CT. Yep, they are not into fancy presentation or such, but what else do you expect for such price. Come to Stamford or Darian and check the price if you are very much into fancy plating and great customer service, but food will be Americanized.

Drove for an hour, all the way from Fairfield, and every bite was worth it. Indians who came straight to corporate US without seeing the other side would not know how blessed they are to get this kind of authentic food. You are on the other side of the world and you are in a small number.

If restaurants start serving this kind of authentic food, they will only have to be at the mercy of the community where majority believes in saving $1 = saving 70 rs. So be grateful and dont forget to tip. 15% is minimum in USA. No ducks given if anyone felt offended! 😇

It was my visit to Udupi Bhavan, and it was awesome. We tried a couple of dishes, mainly South Indian, like Plain masala dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Uttapam, Curd Rice, Besi Belli Bhat, tamarind Rice. We also Methi Matar Malai, Potato Bonda, Dahi Vada, and Vegetable Cutlet.
I visited this place on a recommendation from neighbors and friends. It took me a while to drive to Middle town, which is worth it.
Compared to other Indian restaurants in CT presentation of food is not good, and it has self-service. Self Service means; first, you need to order at the counter and pick your drink. Also, once the order is ready, then you need to pick it up from the counter. Also, after having food, you need to pick all your disposable dishes and throw them in the garbage bin.
Generally booking is not required for this place by if you are planning to visit during the weekend or on any holiday then take your proper time as I was on time but saw a couple of folks had to wait for dining.
The person who was managing the counter was very humble and of welcoming attitude. Even he suggested that what we should try, which we don't much nowadays in restaurant industries. Overall pleasant experience and cost-effective and recommended if you wanted to try some good south Indian food.

Consistently delicious and fast South Indian Restaurant! The paper dosas are very crispy and made perfectly every time. We also get a refreshing mango lassi or hot chai to drink with our meal.
It’s a casual, no frills interior but highly recommend for vegetarian folks or just if you’d like to try South Indian food!

Standard counter service spot, but the food is excellent. Be prepared, it's well-spiced! It's a pit stop for many Indian Americans visiting a nearby Hindu temple. The dosa (ton of styles) and Gobi Manchurian were excellent. Love the sambar! The paneer masala dosa was great, but I wish it had just a bit more paneer.

You know it's legit when it's next to a temple. The vibe inside feels down to earth and cozy. I liked my bisi bele bhath more than the pav bhaji but that's just preference. My partner got the dhosa which was excellent. Can't wait to return and try new items!

Amazing food. We’ve been coming here for over 15 years after our visit to the local temple and the food consistently impresses us. There was a recent ownership change, but it has not affected the quality of this place and it is still absolutely delicious. The staff was so friendly and efficient. We ordered a lot of different variety and everything was great. They are going to be upgrading the decor in the coming months and it will definitely add to the dining-in experience.

I highly, highly recommend this place.
