If they don't have it, you probably don't need it! This is an incredible small hardware store with an outstanding inventory. Knowledgeable, friendly, staff will eagerly find what you need and offer assistance with repairs. Need a single specialty bolt, for example? Don't spend hours searching and be forced into purchasing an entire bag from a big store. These guys will sell you the one you need for a fraction of the cost.

Old Town hardware store, they have just about everything in stock. Pricing is not too crazy. I visited to get a new part for a carburetor on a small engine. Didn't end up getting the right size part and was easily able to exchange for the correct part the next day. The part purchase was not the service person's fault but rather I didn't bring the old piece in for comparison.

For my situation, the small engine part was cheaper here than anywhere I could find online and it was available right away. Will be back in the future for similar types of small engine parts.

Great hardware store and almost always have what you need! Grew up going to this one and still choose to go here over the big stores! Staff is very friendly and super knowledgeable.

Montville hardware is awesome. It's like Eldridge hardware and Savage hardware back in the day. They have all the parts that you could possibly need to repair an old house in Eastern Connecticut. Highly recommend stopping by to check them out! A true blast from the past brought into the future.

This is no ordinary hardware store. They have all the items that the big box stores never even heard of! Doesn't matter if you need one washer or 10,000 they will sell you just what you need. You need commercial grade 8 bolts 7" long, they have them.
The store is many times larger than HD and Lo.... hardware department.
They have a whole basement full of great inventory.
No need to search for help they start at the door, help you solve your problem quickly, easily and probably cheaper than the big boxes.

Montville True Value Hardware is the absolute best! If I could give them 10 stars I would! The service is fantastic the staff were so helpful and kind! They all had a smile on their faces when my friend and I walked in the door. They had exactly what we were looking for and even donated 10 bags of red cedar mulch to the non profit farm my friend and I work for Healing With Horses. I highly highly recommend this place! A huge shout out to Montville hardware. I went in there asking them if they had an idea of how I could secure this on a stake of some sort. I bought this for “P.J.’s gravesite, but don’t want it to fall out of the ground because it was so little and next thing you know they got a stake, drilled holes through it and set it on a stake for me. And he wouldn’t even charge me a dime. Thank you so much guys you don’t know how much I appreciate it. Support our family businesses people!

Been going to this hardware store since day one. Best hardware in CT. Buy any big items and it in the bed of your pickup truck before you know it. No heavy lifting. Not like Home Depot where you have to beg for someone to help you.

I went to big box store don't want to mention any names, looking for something. That was my first mistake. Then went to Montville Hardware I was referred by a friend. He was right they have everything you could possibly need.

Skip big box hardware stores, go here. Period. Go right to the counter and ask what you need or explain what you're doing. They will walk you to the part, explain it, and they have almost everything.

The place has everything. You need a galvanized, grade V bolt in the most bizarre size? They'll have it, and charge you a quarter for it. Service is top notch. It's a treasure to have places like this still around.
