Pennywise Consignment Shop

This is the best consignment shop I've found in CT! They label their items with different colours and do regular colour sales, similar to Goodwill. Pennywise has a much higher quality stock than Goodwill, though (no shade to Goodwill). They carry primarily higher end brands, and I've found some really amazing pieces here for low prices!

They also did a warehouse sale recently where everything was under $20. I hope that becomes an annual event, because I left with a whole new wardrobe that my college-student budget would not have accommodated otherwise!

Awesome experience.. I was visiting Mystic Connecticut from St. Louis and our Airbnb was very close to Pennywise... Of course I had to stop. Love experience love the variety of different clothes. I wear a size 4 or 6 and they had a lot to offer.

Great store! Easy to find just want you are looking for! All quality items tons new with tags! All sizes and prices so something for everyone! Great if shopping on a budget or looking for that high end treat yourself! Ladies are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

I LOVE Pennywise! I always make sure to stop by when I'm in the area. They have a huge selection of clothes, shoes, belts, accessories, and more. They often have sales on lots of items, so you can shop on a budget. I never leave this store empty-handed. Highly recommend!

Just Heard about Pennywise because I was looking for Lilly Pulitzer. I came in and they have a whole rack Lilly Pulitzer. Many other name brand clothing also. Two floors full of clothing. Prices aren't bad also. Lots to look at. Have a dressing room to try things on. Up stairs is new bathing suit pieces and summer wear. Really liked looking around and looking at the inventory. Woman were pleasant who worked their and was helpful.

I rarely write reviews. If I'm pleased with a company's product, they'll have my business again... and again. I also like to support our local businesses - if they have superior customer service, great products and a command of the ever-changing landscape of their industry - they are worth my time and money.

Consignment stores have always been around. The Salvation Army, Goodwill and a few dark, musty, mom & pop shops were just the beginning of my addiction. I've seen many close their doors long before Covid, and after. Running a bricks-and-mortar business, as opposed to an entirely online model, has always been a challenge. But the one thing that has made PENNYWISE what it is today is its progressive consistency. Let's explore a Google review last month from "N."

First, the prices - not only are they fair, they are well below retail. And, their color-coded markdowns come at a persuasive pace. Second, there is no cat - no scent of a cat, no trace of a cat, and the staff does not engage in talking to any imaginary cat. Third, there is no mildew smell (perhaps it was "N"?) anywhere in the building. On any given, nice day the door is propped open, windows let in fresh air as well as proximate views of Mystic Seaport. Fourth, it's clean. Yes, clean - even the corners of the dressing room floors. (and, let's be honest, have you ever seen what you're stepping on in TJ's?) Lastly, it was written by "N" that "people were rude." Were they fellow customers, staff? Were they tourists that asked you to please not block an isle? Hmm. I have been in PENNYWISE countless times over the past 2 decades. I have never, EVER, heard any member of the PENNYWISE team, both past or present, be anything but courteous and helpful - including on the phone.

And, if you'll indulge me just again, one of the most impressive things PENNYWISE has mastered over the last few years is their online platform. Have you seen this thing?! Not only is it easy to navigate, it's creative, edgy, and delivers what others cannot - an accessible approach to an upscale consignment experience.
That's progressive consistency.

I have been to hundreds (remember, my addiction) of consignment and thrift stores in several states over the years. PENNYWISE sets the gold standard as consignment shops go. Their ability to select the most on-trend styles, offer consignors the best value for their items, and treat every customer with kind respect and a smile - that's the bedrock of business and a definite requirement for success.

Wish I lived closer, I would have bought more! I got a gorgeous Chloe purse for an amazing price! They have sales on different colored tags. Great selection, and the pricing is consistent with consignment stores. I will definitely go again when I visit CT.

I purchased a pair of black house white market sandals, never worn that retail for $96 for 28 dollars, and I'm so happy.

I am an avid consignment store shopper and love to find good consignment stores when traveling. My family and I were traveling through Connecticut and came across this store. It is truly a gem of a store. I had so much fun shopping. Their selection was great! High end options with great prices. They even had a nice men’s selection upstairs. My husband was able to walk away with something as well. The woman working was also very nice and helpful. If you are in the area you should absolutely stop in. You will not be disappointed.

Cleanest thrift store I’ve ever been in. They had great selections and even better sale prices. They carry a lot of name brands but also lots of unique finds!! Highly recommend.

I get all my clothes here for way less than I’d get them anywhere else. There’s two rooms full of stuff for guys. Everything from socks, shoes, tees, button ups, ties, blazers, and so much more. Staff is awesome and always willing to help. It’s also pet friendly which is a bonus.

I love this consignment shop! The staff are incredibly friendly. They rotate the clothing fairly often - there's always something new to find! The clothes are high-quality, the prices are reasonable, and consigning your own used clothing here is a very easy process.

A real gem of a place in Mystic. Their selection of clothing is always changing and it's always full of top brands. The handbags selection is out of this world with nothing but top brand names.
