Favorite place to eat when you want a little bit of everything! Love the French onion soup. Desserts are to die for! Also they are very fast with takeout, it’s never more than 25 minutes.

Quite an extensive menu with all of the comfort foods including seafood & Greek options. They also have a very well rounded cocktail menu including seasonal selections. The service was friendly & consistent with pleasant topical conversation. Delicious homemade dishes & desserts. This is an authentic diner which is something difficult to find nowadays. Come on in & enjoy!

Went with a large group, service was on top of things. Food was hot and oh so yummy. Wait staff was on point with making sure coffee cup was refilled.

The food here is excellent and comes in huge portions for the price! You definitely get the bang for your buck going here. The wings, portabello burger, and fish tacos were all great menu items and tasted absolutely delicious. The service was also friendly and there was such a large selection of cakes by the bakery that we had trouble choosing one for dessert. Would definitely come here again!

Huge menu to ensure that there are options for everyone. The matzo ball soup is the best! I've been coming for it since I was little, and now I take my family when I'm up in Vernon. The holiday special drinks are super tasty! My favorite app would have to be the zucchini sticks. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Oh, and you can't forget dessert! Their selection is incredible.

Stopped in after a show in Hartford around 11 pm. And was greeted right away, seated and ordered without any worries of them closing within the hour. Waitress was very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. I'm happy you can get breakfast anytime as much as you can get a burger, sandwich, or regular meal. At least a 20 foot dessert case with different assortments of cakes, pies and sweets. Very clean and welcoming.

Loved this diner. The diner has a family ambiance. The food was delicious. I had the cup of chili, and it tasted amazing! The waitress was kind and very attentive.

If I could give this diner more than 5 stars I definitely would!! Amazing food! Highly recommend. The sampler platter was delicious so good I didn’t get a chance to take a picture. Buffalo chicken roll mozzarella sticks chicken tenders and onion rings!!! The food didn’t make me feel bloated either (lol) My favorite new diner when I come up to visit my daughter.

While a neighboring deli gets a lot of national acclaim, I prefer the Vernon Diner. It can get crowded during certain times, but there is a lot of seating available. The menu is huge, including many comfort foods, seafood, steaks, burgers and breakfast all day/night. The service is excellent. I can't believe how hard they work. The prices are moderate, and the portions are huge. The dessert case is filled with cakes, cookies, pies and pastries. I am told they are all baked on-site. The portions there are also huge! I have been there a dozen times and have never had a bad meal.

This is a real diner. We don't get many in nyc, so this was a real treat. It looks like a real community diner - many of the patrons seemed to be regulars which was so nice to see. The menu is a novella - there is definitely something for everyone. The portions are very generous. The fries are delicious and even the cole slaw was good. They are very accommodating with special requests (although they do not have turkey bacon) and the wait staff is very patient and willing to help you through the menu. As you walk in there is a massive counter with colourful and delicious looking desserts. We had no room for dessert (maybe next time), but if you are able, maybe take one to go.
The diner is right next to a hotel / motel (maybe Days Inn? Don't remember), so if you don't find parking right in front, there's plenty round the back.

My husband and I stopped in Vernon on our way home from Maine. We stumbled upon the Vernon Diner and it did not disappoint. The Challah bread French toast was delicious, as were my eggs and his omelet. I was tempted to get one of the amazing looking desserts to go, but we still had several hours in the car ahead of us.

Delicious chicken 🐔 pot pie and lemon 🍋 orzo soup 🍲, friendly service and nice upscale diner atmosphere. I hadn't been here in years but will be back when driving on I-84, great 👍 diner experience.

I discovered this diner along my travels to bringing my daughter back and forth to college. Great food and the deserts are just too good especially the Baklava cheesecake! We have since returned several times and it never disappoints!!

Always a deliciously satisfying experience.

Wow! Vernon Diner was a special dining experience. The food was so tasty and fresh. And Linda, our waitress, was especially kind and welcoming. We will be back!

Great place to stop after a night out, Elvis waffles are really good so is the French onion soup.

Everything we got was good, service was good as well. Decent sized portions on everything. Only slight issue I had was with the Teriyaki Trio, said it came with Shrimp but only had 2 small shrimp total. If you're gonna advertise Shrimp as part of an entree it should definitely have more than 2.

First time here. Food,, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. I had the Black Forest omelette with home fries and rye toast with butter on it. Divine. Coffee was good. Even the oj was delicious. If you’re visiting this part of Connecticut, you’ve got to visit Vernon Diner!

Vernon Diner is one of our "go to places" on our trips from Boston to New Jersey. Easy on/ off route 84. Good food. Nice people and large menu, including breakfast all day. We have been dozens of times! Wish there were places like this near Boston.
