Jewett City Pizza Palace

From the outside this place looks like every other regular old town pizza place, and even on the inside as you enter. First impressions do not do it justice though. We have now, over the past several months, been to this fabulous little restaurant several times and will continue to go. On our first visit we ordered pizza and calamari. Both were excellent. On subsequent visits we have ordered several dishes... fish and chips (excellent!), daily specials, salads (the in house garlic dressing is to die for), soups, and a few other things. The food is *always* fresh, served quickly, and delicious. On one occasion we tried to order fried chicken, but they said that it was no longer available because the quality of the chicken from their supplier did not meet their standards. We were told, "if we don't like it we don't serve it. Sorry." Judging from everything that we have eaten here, I believe every word. The service is more than just service. You are made to feel like you are among their favorite people, as if you are welcome in their family. It's a place for locals to gather and chat, even among other tables and visitors. It's warm and friendly, and everybody that enters is treated as a "local". One of our favorite spots.

Calling in to pick up I can usually order two large pizzas and one grinder and only have to wait usually 15-20 minutes to pick up.
Has gotten slightly busier with other nearby close downs but they do a great job balancing.
Food is amazing I swear they have to be making their own cheese in the back because every pizza has SO MUCH.
So if you want some good quick pizza and an even better environment to come to sit and grab food this is your place to go to

My husband and I stopped here for dinner when we were in town staying at a local B&B. Their pizza was DELICIOUS! Arguably the best I've had in CT (and we currently live in New Haven). Everyone there was so friendly. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I have been coming here for over 30 years and the food and service has always been top notch!! We did basically a sample of their best, meatballs in cheese, 2 topping pizza, full belly clam dinner, garlic bread!! mmmmmmm

Best pizza,grinders and their clam chowder is amazimg. I sooo wamt that recipe. Im 51 ,ive tried every chowder around ,who woulda guessed its been 4 miles down the rd.

Such a wonderful experience! This was our first experience visiting Jewett City Pizza Palace in well over 40 years. We were not disappointed! The owner, Effie, was kind, warm and treated us as if we were family. Her husband was busy cooking, but took time to greet us and made sure our food was to our liking. Together this husband and wife team assured us a pleasant and very tasty experience!!
We each had their fish and chips. We were served three nice sized pieces of fish that were flaky & fresh; the batter complemented nicely and was light with just the right amount of crispness. A lemon wedge adorned the plate, but the fish was so fresh, it went unused. There was a plentiful amount of french fries served hot & crisp. They left a nice 'clean' taste on the palate and the lightly salted seasoning was was spot on. You actually tasted the freshness of the potato.
A generous side of homemade cole slaw was served, it was a nice addition to the meal. The big surprise was the complimentary homemade, grilled garlic bread. It reminded me of my mom's homemade bread... A slice of pure delicious, buttery comfort!
We are told their Saturday prime rib special is very tasty. We will be trying that soon.
The restaurant is cozy, so I recommend you time it accordingly and pack your patience or order take out.
In summary, $13.99 was indeed a fair price for our delicious, plentiful fish and chips; the warm welcome was complimentary, but in our eyes, it was priceless!

Delicious! We had our young granddaughter with us. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. They gave her a coloring book and colored pencils. The food was very good and served promptly. We saw several people coming and going. A busy place. The staff gave our granddaughter a bag of chips for later as we left. They were very friendly and I highly recommend

The special pizza here is fantastic and the other pizzas my family gets are great as well. Might be the best pizza in the area overall in my mind for crust, flavor and variety. The deal for buy 3 pizzas get one free on Sunday is also awesome plus.

GREAT family restaurant. Best grinders and Italian in the area. Best staff also. You will want for nothing. Definitely recommend the fish and chips.

Great food. Been going here my whole life. They have some of the best pizza in the Griswold/Jewett city, Plainfield, voluntown area! And it's perfect almost every time. The only time it's not perfect is if I try something new that I'm not sure I would like, which is my own fault, not theirs! Highly recommend! Also their grinders/subs, are just as good. Puts other pizza places sandwiches nearby, the 3 towns & burrows to shame! Also the owners are very nice and amazing people. There's a reason they have been around and owned by the same people since 1982. Generations of good food! And generations of their family to thank for it and, generations of my friends and family that have also enjoyed their food!

I'm a big fan of smaller diners and pubs and this has that exact feel. Smaller place with amazing people that greet you like you're one of the family. From the second I stepped in until the second I left, even while being alone and just doing laundry next door (convenient am I right?) I felt like I was at home. If you ever find yourself in Jewett City, this is a go to spot

Jewett City Pizza Palace makes the best Chicken Parm around, but we had the Cheese Burger Grinder this time around and it was fantastic!

This is my favorite place to get pizzas and grinders. Super quick and always hot and fresh.

Stopped in for lunch with my mom. The decor is outdated but if feels oddly and pleasantly nostalgic. Service was quick,polite and courteous and the food was amazing. We got a large taco pizza with the plans having some then and the rest for dinner, we polished off half a large pizza and then picked through the rest during our afternoon errands. Definitely recommend highly!
