So far so good, was not easy to set up payment for my loan, But customer service helped me get it done. I got a great rate and hope everything goes smoothly.

Shocked at the reviews regarding Mr. Edgewood from the Auto Loan Department . He was extremely kind, professional & helpful. He answered all my emails, phone calls & questions regarding my auto loan without hesitation. I appreciate all the assistance he gave me in resolving my issue. I would definitely recommend Scient Federal Credit Union specifically based on the treatment I received from this gentleman.

I do not write reviews, but in balance I must say I have had no complaints about Scient and before that Ledge light...I have used them for car loans, equity loans, line of credit , mortgages, refinancing banking, savings, checking..and yes even cashing in the proverbial extra change before going on vacation.. they know me/ my family they are friendly, courteous. Even when we had an issue, they were quick to resolve it. Based on my experience they a re entitled to the highest accolades

Overall I have been happy with Scient. I have been banking with them since they were called the Pfizer Credit Union, then Ledge Light. I have had car loans, checking and savings as well as a HELOC account and have not experienced any issues. The staff have always been courteous and helpful and they have good rates.
I do wish they offered more advanced technical services, like mobile banking (if they have it I am not aware) and it would be great if they had more ATMs and more extended hours but it's really not a bad credit union as some here make it out to be.

10/12/18 Update: I spoke with a wonderful employee, Beth, who works in their collections debtartment. Beth took the time to help me and assured me that my loan was in good standing. Prior to my calls, she investigated where my payment went and applied it to my loan assuring the loan payment wouldn't go into default. She also spent at least half an hour explaining to me what happened, how she addressed it, and my credit would be fine. Thank you Beth!

Got my car loan from them when nobody else would be flexible with terms. Good service and great people! Glad I did business with them!

I noticed my identity was stolen when I filed my 2019 tax return. I am now registered with the IRS and other government entities and pay for Experian Premium Protection. I’ve been a member of Scient since 2021. A month ago I spoke over the phone with a very professional customer service employee at Scient when I wanted to join Experian Credit Works and needed the banks assistance. I was told the Scient didn’t participate but to come in and and they would work with me without joining the Experian Credit Works. I drove to Groton and met with an extremely professional Scient Loan Officer, we discussed my phone conversation, my identity situation and was urged to apply for a Home Equity Loan. As expected My credit score was 70 points short and she asked me to come back to meet with her supervisor and bring my Identity Theft documents (which are extensive, including 2 current prosecutions and multiple affidavits. The loan officer notified me on the day she asked me to return that her supervisor wouldn’t even meet with me. So Scient (my only bank account) won’t assist me with Experian and won’t even take 20 minutes to meet with me. I’m not disappointed about being denied, I’m genuinely insulted that with all Scient’s frontline personnel who genuinely seemed to want to help, it took only 1 Scient upper manager who wouldn’t even give me a meeting, to cause me and the other members who recommended me to this institution, to seriously reconsider whether or not we belong here. This institution has no intentions of helping their customers. Nowadays, the personnel keeps pushing to apply and upload everything online. When contacted via email no one seems to be on the same page. Do not bank with them unless you want a headache and misleading information.

I bought 2 vehicles using SFCU as the lending institution. The rates were competitive and everything was good until they sold the loans to Charter Oak within a year which really annoyed me. Then I started getting letters about a checking account that was incurring "fees" that I never asked for that was probably buried in the fine print of the auto loan paperwork.

If you are going to use Scient for auto loans, make sure you have an open and active account. Apparently, they will be less likely to dump your loans which impacts your credit score and is a major inconvenience. If you have Navy Fed or another lending institution that you are already happy with, stick with them even if Scient offers a slightly better rate.
