Zahner Dental

We moved to Western Mass a few years ago and had moved often - including many varying experiences with dentists. My daughter was traumatized by one very bad experience (as was I!) but the brothers Zahner and their staff are so exceptional that she has said she’s glad we moved here so that we can have them as our dentists!

We drive 30 minutes to go see them and it is completely worth the drive. Their staff is kind, the office is very clean and peaceful. The dentists bring a sense of calm with them and they’re very pleasant, peaceful, direct and loving. My whole family has been exceedingly grateful to have them as our dentists now since we moved here. I simply cannot say enough good about them! Trust me, you will not regret going to them whether you have enjoy going to the dentist or dread it - I trust you’ll have a positive experience, also.

Always a pleasant experience at Zahner Dental. Personal, professional and courteous. Love the family-like atmosphere. My recent visits were with Dr. Jon, Beka and Carole. They are great.

Best decision we ever made was to leave another local dentist's office and come to Zahner! The staff is super nice, and the offices and rooms are a 10/10 for layout and cleanliness. They work fast and efficiently, but don't make you feel like they are rushing you out of there (unlike some other medical offices)! 10/10 would recommend!

Prior to finding Zahner Dental, I had to be sedated to get any dental work done. I have sensory issues and the lights were too bright, the noise was too loud and when I’m anxious I get very cold and shaky. I explained this to Dr. Jonathan Zahner who went out of his way to patiently work with me on minimizing my anxiety and discomfort. We agreed to start with a crown on a tooth that already had a root canal. At my appointment his staff had a blanket, a pair of dark glasses, and a headset with music ready for me. They used a little bridge between my teeth so I didn’t have to hold my jaw open. They talked to me, they made sure I was doing ok. They have a monitor with travel photos running in each room. So much care and distraction from actually being at the dentist. Also no gummy trays to take impressions of your teeth (and make me feel like I’m chocking). They use a wand to take digital impressions. And no second appointment to finish your crown. You get a 30-40 minute break while your crown is being made ON SITE! I go for a walk to move around, come back, the crown gets fitted with minimal adjustments and you leave with your new teeth! If you have been avoiding dental work due to anxiety or sensitivities, I highly recommend calling Zahner Dental and discussing it with them!

My back molar broke about two years ago. It was a small break and it didn’t hurt so I did what many of us do, ignored it. The thought of going to the dentist was too terrifying. Too many poor past experiences. Fast forward to the week before Christmas 2019 when a larger portion of that same tooth broke off. Again there was no pain but I knew I had to do something before it got worse. That week I sat on my couch, in tears, reading through loads of reviews on dental offices because I really didn’t want to go. Everyone seemed to rave about Zahner so I finally mustered up the courage to call. I’ll admit shamelessly that even on the phone with the receptionist to make that first appointment I was crying because I was petrified.

Then came the fateful day for the first appointment. My husband basically had to drag me out of the car and into the front door. Turns out all it took was me finding the right dentist to overcome my anxieties. Everyone who works there is INCREDIBLE. Hands down, wonderful people. So compassionate and caring. They all knew I was nervous and I truly felt like my comfort was their top priority. By the time I left, I was LOOKING FORWARD to going back for my root canal. Literally!

I took a prescription they gave me beforehand so i was nice and sleepy when I got there for the procedure a week later. I was given a weighted blanket to keep me calm as well and from there I don’t remember too much. I was there for four hours (root canal/crown, and a load of other fillings...... don’t be like me and go 8 years without a cleaning) but it felt like I was there for 30 minutes. There was ZERO pain. Maybe a little soreness towards the end, but it wasn’t something I should have gotten myself so worked up over.

Megan, Dr. Jon, Linda, Emily, and everyone else there treat you like family. If you’re like me and are reading these reviews because you’re nervous, PLEASE make the call! You’ll be so so happy you did!

I started going to Zahner Dental about a year ago and the experience has been tremendous. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and always upbeat which makes the visit so much better. They have state of the art technology and the dentist will walk you through each procedure so there are no surprises. Their work is exceptional and they always try and make you feel as comfortable as possible. I give the entire experience a 10 and highly recommend Zahner Dental to everyone I know. Trust me it will be a decision you will be happy you made.

I love Zahner Dental!! I am so happy that I switched dentists after 40 years with another dentist in Enfield. The Zahner Dental dentists and staff are all so caring and they make you feel like you are part of their family. I had an old crown replaced today and expected to come back for another visit, but to my surprise the crown was done in one appointment! This was the first time I did not mind going to the Dentist! Thank you Dr. Zahner and staff!

As Kevin said, a very friendly staff who seems genuinely concerned about your well-being. Recently I had wisdom teeth removed and received a call later in the day from Dr. Zahner. He asked how I was doing, if I had any questions or concerns. Both during and after the procedure they always made certain I was comfortable or that any concerns I had were addressed.

Beyond customer service though, the medical staff is also very passionate about what they do. They seemed very current with their knowledge and once again, genuinely concerned for my health. I was referred to Zahner Dental by both a colleague and friend and based on the great experience I had, I feel obligated to pass on a recommendation to anyone who might read this review.

Everyone at Zahner is amazing!! I had a cracked tooth and I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years. I had a horrible experience as a kid so the dentist wasn't really my favorite place to go. I called up, they got me in the next day to take a look at my tooth. I explained to everyone in the office that I have horrible anxiety and they made me feel at home. You walk into the office and everyone is SO nice!! The dentist was very gentle and did GREAT work! I convinced my boyfriend to go and get a cleaning and he loves them!! I would recommend Zahner Dental, they are hands down THE BEST! Love everyone there!!!

Friday 01/14/2022 at 2:40pm my husband had his 1st right molar completely fracture from the crown extending down through both ridges and into the proximal root. At 2:45pm, as a new client, I called the office of Dr. Jonathan Zahner and described the emergency. By 3:25pm my husband was in the dental chair and provided with multiple dental solutions. My husband walked out of the dental office at 4:40pm. My husband received superior customer service, professionalism, and expertise. I highly recommend the office of Zahner Dental and specifically Dr. Jonathan Zahner. If you are looking for a dentist with expertise, superior communication skills and willing to go above and beyond I strongly recommend Dr. Jonathan Zahner.

Dr. Jonathan Zahner and his team were nothing short of amazing! I had a bad experience with another dentist and was recommended to Dr. Zahner by my co-worker. I called Dr. Zahner's office to ask if they would give me a second opinion. The receptionist was extremely kind and helpful, even looking up information to help me with insurance over the phone.
My first visit to Dr. Jon was very reassuring. He was honest and helpful and took the time to explain to me about my new cavities and give advice. He took about 20 minutes just talking to me after looking at my teeth. His assistant, Emily, was also very kind and reassuring.
I came back several weeks later to get four cavities filled all on the left side and Dr. Zahner was so gentle I fell asleep in the chair while getting my teeth filled! Afterwards, my bite is perfect and I have not experienced any issues.
I highly recommend Dr. Zahner and his team - they provide the service and care that all medical professionals should. They truly care about their patients.

It took me a long time to find and warm up to a new dentist after my previous dentist retired but Zahner Dental and ALL the staff are top notch. This review took me 3 years to evaluate and finally put it in writing for all to see. No one likes to go to the dentist but it is a necessary "evil". Your comfort and absence of any pain are their first priorities and they will discuss and explain every procedure over and over again until you understand what is happening and why. They work with you on cost and payment so you can easily have your teeth properly taken of. I went in there for the first 2 years with an attitude of "they are not doing anything unnecessary to me just to pad their bank account". That has disappeared. They are very nice, understanding, compassionate, gentle and professional. I could not be more pleased, in all ways! If you are looking for a dentist, give them a try. They ALL make an uncomfortable experience totally doable and even sort of pleasant...really!

Dr. Jon and his team go above and beyond to take care of their patients. They especially excel in patients with anxiety. Had a cracked tooth and ended up needing a root canal. Dr. Jon responded two times after hours when I needed him and even texted me with his cell phone. They alleviated the anxiety and were nothing but supportive and patient from beginning to end. Myself or my family will never go anywhere else. Cannot recommend them enough and am beyond grateful for their services. Thank you again!

Zahner Dental. Review

To say I am dental phobic is an under statement. I hadn’t been to a dentist since 2000 when I had an extraction and other work done. I moved to MA 18 years ago and still didn’t have a dentist until a few weeks ago. A few weeks back I knocked out a capped front tooth. My wife suggested I call her dentist. So after much stalling I made an appointment with Zahner Dental. From the time I met the receptionists to meeting with the assistant Chelsea, and then Dr. Shawn I felt , like I was family ! Everyone was extremely friendly, put my mind at ease and made me feel very comfortable. My first visit consisted of an evaluation of my dental situation. I was most impressed at the technology this office uses such as digital X-rays - far better than the paper encased film that you had to hold in your mouth while the hygienist postponed an X-ray machine near your cheek. After wards I met with Dr Shawn who explained to me the issues he was seeing on the X-rays of my teeth besides the front tooth problem. He talked to me about a few options and then offered to meet with me to discuss a more complete course of treatment he would prepare in a few days.
At that appointment Dr Shawn explained in as much detail as I wanted exactly what needed to be done and what he was planning to do at my first visit. Their Treatment Coordinator, Linda, took great pains to explain to me all costs that may be involved and what my insurance was going to cover and for what part I would be responsible. At my next appointment I walked in confident that I had picked the right practice and certainly the right dentist. I had no anxiety as the medications I took lulled me into a gentle sleepiness. I had 4 extractions and 1 tooth capped and never felt anything. I was there for a little over 3 hours it felt like it was at most 20 minutes. It was the best, the absolute best dental experience I have ever had. So if you’re phobic about seeing a dentist I suggest that you give Zahner Dental a call, you will not regret it. One last thing which should be important to anyone seeking a dentist - these dentists are all up on the latest and greatest dental technologies, that was important for me.

I have never been to Zahner dental despite living in Ellington my whole life. Just recently I had a filling fall out. Called Zahner's and they got me in the next day for a cleaning and consultation. Kathy my hygienist was AMAZING!! As well as the Dentist himself. Very thorough! So after a great cleaning I went in two days later for my filling since it wasn't bothering me, and again just another amazing experience. I never even felt the needle to numb my mouth , Warren did a GREAT job and in thirty minutes I was done. Everyone there is extremely nice, helpful, and just the best!! I am so glad I decided to go and will continue to receive all my dental needs from them!!

Dr.Jon really impressed me with his competence, kindness, attention to detail & communication skills. He answered my questions in clear, direct detailed manner that allowed me to make informed decisions on my care. He performed my crown flawlessly & I hardly felt a thing. And, he fit me into his schedule when I was having extreme discomfort which made my day so much easier. Thanks Dr. Jon!

Also, Thank you to Britney & the other sweet hygienist who cleaned my teeth. You are both are exceptionally competent, informative & kind.

My childhood dentist retired and Zahner Dental came highly recommended. I took myself and our three kids to our new dentist and we have had the best experience. The cleanings and care taken with our children has been amazing. And I was in a terrible spot (teeth wise) when I came to Dr. Shawn. First, after years of not flossing, Tammy gave me a strict regime to help my gums heal and get better and after strictly following her instruction they have! Second, I needed 3 crowns and multiple fillings because of previous dental work (my childhood dentist). Dr. Shawn was so gentle, I had no pain, he explained everything to me and was incredibly supportive. I'm so happy to now call Zahner Dental our dentist office and cannot give a more glowing review. Everyone from the front desk, to Linda in billing, to the hygentists and both Dr. Zahner's we've seen, everyone is incredible!

I can not say enough about the fabulous Zahner dental. I started going there just for cleanings a few years ago, and about 18 months ago I decided to get invisalign. I had never had braces, and was super apprehensive as I have a medical condition that results in awful headaches. Doctor John was super patient and understanding with me, and worked incredibly hard to develop a plan so I would be comfortable with invisalign and avoided causing any additional pressure for headaches. He and his team were always so pleasant, gentle, kind, and funny!! I don't think I ever had an appointment where we all didn't laugh! I am forever grateful for Doctor John and his staff, they have given me the most invaluable gift I've ever wanted, a perfect smile. I am so happy and honored to be one of their patients, and I highly highly recommend them for cleanings, invisalign, or any other dental care you need. They also see my 5 year old daughter! She has been seeing them for a year and she loves them too. If you want a doctor and staff that feels like family, you need Zahner Dental.

My daughter and I have used this practice for years and I absolutely love them. Every staff member I have met has been wonderful. Danine used to hold my baby for me while I got my cleaning so he didn't have to sit in his a stroller!
About a week ago my 3 year old fell and knocked his tooth pretty badly. It was Friday evening after 6pm and the office was closed. Dr. Shawn called me back within 10 minutes even though he was out of town, and Dr. Jon met us at the office that evening to fix his tooth!! We never felt rushed, my son was so comfortable and he has never even been for a cleaning. Dr. Jon even took the time to put a movie on for him so he wasn't scared.
I can't say enough about everyone here, they are wonderful doctors and wonderful people. I highly recommend this office to people of all ages.

I have been going here since 2002 when I moved to Vernon. The staff is incredibly friendly and while the service has always been top shelf, the staff has been getting technically more innovative in the last several years. For example, I needed a new crown and instead of the two step process where they make a mold and you get the crown three weeks later, I went yesterday and had a digital crown made. The drilled out the tooth, created a digital replacement, and had the crown made while I waited. It was a perfect fit, no grinding or re-fitting and I was in and out in 90 minutes. Awesome!
