If you're looking for a great camping spot, consider this one a hidden gem.

The camp site costs $12 per day if you want to use the electricity, less if you want to go without. Wood is generally provided for use in the burn pits. They really don't charge for the wood, but do encourage you to consider a donation for the service.

To avoid confusion, all payments and rental fees are made in a small yellow pole that's near the entrance of the park, you just fill out one of the forms, and deposit it into the back of the tube.

There is a children's playground I. The center of the camp sites, walking trails, local fishing available. There is a farm next to the property, so we had a morning wake up call from the cows every morning.

The local fishing is great at Pony Creek. Went there for a weekend with friends and we had a great time. We'll definitely be returning next when the weather warms up again.

There are restrooms, but it IS an outhouse, so be prepared for that. There is fresh water available from a tap near the middle of the campground.

Wow 😲 well worth the 1 mile drive on gravel. We loved this place so much 😍 Beautiful, quiet hidden gem 💎 84 acre lake - perfect for kayaking and fishing, miles of maintained hiking trails, stunning modern nature education building, plethora of plant and bird species. 4 rv/electric camp sites and 4 beautiful tent sites sprinkled around the park, 2 tent sites are just off the road and one (or two) are hike in camping. We couldn't locate the 4th tent spot. Tent sites have park grills, a fire ring with a grill and a picnic table. An absolute bargain at $10 a night for a tent site. They also have two huge, brand new cabins (more like houses) that each sleep 10 for $150 a night each with all the desired amenities - running water, AC etc and a huge brand new pavilion with 6-9 picnic tables underneath. There are three pit latrines that were fairly clean, with the usual cobwebs you'd expect to find in a pit latrine. We especially appreciated the pre-split, donation system firewood at the campground. Our only complaints are: there are no flattened/level areas in the tent sites to pitch a tent so we (barely) slept on an incline and, THERE IS POISON IVY EVERYWHERE. I couldn't walk more than a few feet around the perimeter of our campsite without finding poison ivy. Be smart if you're going to collect firewood or hike here and cover your skin up, keep your pet on a leash and out of the understory. All in all 10/10. We will be back. Thank you Pony Creek! ❤

Fantastic primitive sights, very spacious, and secluded. I suggest backpacking or going light as 4 out of the 6 are up steep hills or a short walk from parking. The nature center was a huge hit with the whole family. We'll be back!

Relatively small area with limited space but great for kids. Main camp circle has a playground right in the middle.

This was a great place to go fishing. The family caught 20 fish in 2 hours bank fishing. They were small but great for beginners and kids. Just used some worms and a smaller hook. I have also caught a load of crappie that were keepers and some decent largemouth bass. Picnic tables, grill and pavilion make for nice picnic and gatherings. Lots of parking and it has a simple boat ramp. It is a no wake lake so it is great for canoeing and kayaks.

Great little spot just outside of the metro area. There is camping, hiking, and a nature center. There is a great spot right across the road for water activities like kayaking and boating.

The camping is low cost and there is water and electricity for some of the spots. The hiking trails are on the short side but have good views and a lot of nature to see.

We love the Nature Center and all the activities that are offered throughout the year. My kids loved the Nature Detectives 3 day camp and we enjoy canoeing when it's offered. A great place to spend time and learn about Nature.

Very nice little park for tent camping. There is not permanent Park Ranger but there should be or someone one with some authority because when I was camping there this summer some people on ATVs drove through even though there is a sign they passed saying they can't enter and it is because many of them drive like idiots and they are very loud.
