Homewood Suites by Hilton Ankeny

Arrived at 4am due to flight delays, I stayed in contact with the front desk while we were traveling and they were very understanding of our situation. Had us already checked in and key cards ready so we could just go straight to our room.

Front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating for our 6 nights here. Always happy to run towels up to the room when requesting extras.

John, the front desk manager, made sure our group had everything when needed during happy hour. Plenty of food and drinks.

Highly recommend staying here. Great employees, great location.

I stayed for six days over the last week of July and had none of the room service issues a couple of recent reviews mentioned. The room was clean and well-stocked, including the kitchen. My room had plenty of trash bags - one extra per can (three cans). The dishes were in the cabinets and were clean, the bathroom had plenty of toilet paper, and I was provided more towels than I could go through.

The breakfast was very good - hot eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, a yogurt bar with TONS of fresh fruit, cereal, waffle maker, and toaster with breads. Wednesdays they serve dinner which was also delicious - I had chicken wings, green beans, mashed potatoes, and a beer.

The front desk staff were pleasant and engaging. They respond immediately when the button on the desk is pushed. Check in and check out were a breeze, and the rooms were very quiet even though I had a couple of families with young children nearby. I couldn't hear a thing. I also never heard the road construction outside the hotel, and I'm a light sleeper.

The rooms get a 4* instead of 5* from me for one reason - the AC couldn't keep the room where I wanted it. I keep my rooms at 67 at night and 76 during the day. This room, however, I had to keep set at 67 constantly because it couldn't keep up with the daytime temps - it was almost 80 degrees the first day I left it at 76 while out, and it took THE ENTIRE NIGHT to drop down to 72; I left it on 67 the next day and it stayed at 72 during the day and dropped to 68 overnight. I have difficulty breathing while sleeping if the temperature is over 74, so this was a big deal to me though it might seem like a small issue to others.

Overall, though, one of the best hotels in the area to stay in and I was pleased with my stay.

this hotel was the best hotel i’ve been too. The housekeepers themselves helped as well and made my needs a priority. They made sure my room was clean and collected anything I no longer was using. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needed a stay.

This hotel was absolutely perfect for our family. Having a complete separate bedroom was exactly what we needed. We were able to set up a crib in the living room for the baby to sleep without us disturbing them in the bedroom. The rooms were super clean. The staff were very friendly. The free breakfast had a little bit of everything. We will definitely be staying here again.

Just checked in a few days ago and love it so far!

The Suite is nice and is basically an apartment with a nearly full kitchen (no oven), living space, bedroom, bathroom, closet, and a TV in the bedroom and living room. Thermostats in both living room and bedroom for optimal comfort.

The staff have been helpful and accommodating with requests. Haven’t tried the breakfasts yet, but the dining space on the first floor is super nice and the food looks incredible. I have already taken advantage of the gym and it is adequate for basic workouts with weights, cardio, and cable weight machine.

I am currently staying here so will finish this review when I leave.

Overall good.
PROS:
- Free breakfast quite good and hearty
- Spacious 1 bedroom, 2 queen suite has actual seperate room with closing door in between "den" and bedroom
- clean
CONS:
- A few little things need attention in the room, such as loose knobs, fidgety hinges, etc. The kind of stuff maintenance should just "catch" in periodic walkthrus. Likely a staffing issue, like many current employers. (No time for the "little things.)
- Annoying family in the room above us letting their little kids run loudly late at night
- The hot tub is closed, and boarded over -- this may be a permanent thing. Which is too bad, I seek out hotels with hot tubs.

I'd give it a solid "B+" overall.

Great hotel, room, and staff. We traveled with our golden retrievers and felt right at home. The room was very nice, comfortable, and very clean. The lobby is a great place to relax and hang out. Loved the fireplace. Thank you for the great holiday stay while traveling!

This was a wonderful hotel for our large family. The two bedroom suite was great for making sure little ones got to sleep on time and stayed asleep. The kitchenette was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, the hotel was clean and I very much appreciated the signs in the hallways asking folks not to run and to respect others by keeping noise down. This was the most family friendly hotel I've been to in a long time.

Stayed for an 11-day work trip with a team of coworkers. Bed is super comfortable and shower is perfect. Neutrogena toiletries are good quality. Housekeeping comes every couple of days to refresh towels and make the bed. Having a kitchen and full-size fridge/freezer was perfect. Breakfast is decent, really liked the scrambled eggs with Swiss cheese & chives. Outside patio with the fire pit is really nice at night and the hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day. Located near plenty of restaurants and shops, close to the highway but not SO close that there’s too much noise. Staff is friendly. Definitely recommend.

I came in town for business purposes and was referred to stay here by a friend and I'm happy I did. They have very friendly staff and nice clean rooms that was suitable for my business needs at a great price compared to the other hotels near by.

This was easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I travel a lot for work, and have never had such a lovely room or view. Breakfast was always on time and delicious. Social hour was enjoyable. I was close to shopping, restaurants, and downtown if I wanted any of that. And it was quiet! That goes so far when sleeping on the road.

We loved this hotel and I’ll definitely seek it out every time I pass through the area. Beautifully furnished, immaculately clean. We had a suite with a private bedroom and living room with sleeper sofa, which was awesome for traveling with our kids. Staff was helpful, the area surrounding the hotel is nice and new. All the major shopping, restaurants, and businesses are within half a mile’s radius. Couldn’t have had a better experience.

This hotel is so nice. It has a beautiful interior. I love the breakfast. It was delicious and the seating area is so relaxing. The gym is a good size. The rooms are so nice. They even have a little kitchenette. I felt so refreshed after staying here. This is a great option if you are looking to stay in the area!

Very quiet even next to the airport. Going through renovations right now so older rooms will get a good face lift. Nice suites with good amenities. Don't bring breakfast stuff as what is served in the breakfast area is great. Not the same everyday.

The entire staff from maintenance to front desk to housekeeping was very kind and helpful. Super friendly! It was a very busy time at the hotel during our stay but everything was well taken care of and clean.

Very nice place, worked out well with our two kids. Having the sofa couch and full kitchen was great! Only wish it had a tub. Didn't realize when we booked the room that it only offered a shower. Made bathing our 1 and 3 year old a little difficult. But the room was clean and staff was very friendly! And the social time Monday through Thursday was amazing! In the area that they do the complimentary breakfast in the mornings, they also offer free tap beer and wine, and light dinner/snacks. Almost wish we had stayed longer!

My family and I have been staying in the hotel for work for almost 4 months. Today we checked out with tears in our eyes. We have made some GREAT friends here. Housekeeping made sure we had everything we needed all the time and was very pleasant all the time! Happy hour was exceptional & the hospitality was beyond AMAZING! Sharmell the hostess is AMAZING, KIND, GENEROUS, gave us ideas on things to do with our family. We looked forward to every happy hour and seeing her. Front desk was great when we needed a bigger room and always friendly Thank you for being so wonderful to our family and kind! We wished we could stay longer, we had THE BEST time here and you all did everything to make us feel as at home as possible. A million thank yous! And 10000000 stars!

Our room was great with a full fridge and separate room for our kids to sleep on the sofa sleeper. The pool is nothing special but our kids still enjoyed themselves. There is a nice patio area with many high tables and a gas fireplace.

Very nice, clean, morning breakfast hasn't been open at the times they have posted 1 time out of the 3 weeks we have stayed. Upto and including 30 minutes or longer. But the evening social hour is fun and you do meet some very interesting and fun people. 5 stars to environment, 5 to entertainment, 4 to services, 5 to house keeping and front desk.
