Fong's Pizza Ankeny

I just absolutely love their crab rangoon pizza. $26 for a large. We nearly get it every time we also tried their street taco pizza which was really good as well and quite a bit unique from a standard taco pizza. Our service was great and the restaurant was pretty clean.

I was visiting from out of town and the bartender, Doug, was so welcoming and kind. Iowans are ridiculously friendly and the hospitality is unmatched. The food was very unique, never experienced a fusion like this before! Thank you so much, I will be back again next time I visit.

Lives up to being some of the best pizza in the state. Both the Thai Chicken and the Bacon Popper pizzas were excellent. Service was great, atmosphere was solid. Highly recommended.

Ah the proverbial child of the Cedar Rapids restaurant. Albeit in a different part of this city, with less nostalgia around. However, the recipes are exactly the same as the original. The original quickly became a favorite of ours, we often name it as one of our top three must eat in the Midwest. So when you have that high of an expectation, the nut better not fall far from the tree.
And it doesn't.
First the drinks, always a great selection and crafted to perfection.
The appetizer, this one was the Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls, just like the first time. Eggscellent!
Then on to the main dish; sure you can try a wrap, or something else on the menu. But when it comes to great pizza. Well park the bus, and sit down for a taste of something above the restaurant chains. The crust isn't overpowering, it carries the load of ingredients just as it should be. And the toppings are fresh. How can you tell? Trust me you can.
This restaurant is as good as the original.

Fongs is always amazing. This was my first time at the Ankeny location. I was apart of a group of 7, and our server was absolutely amazing.

Update: still amazing. Brooke was an absolutely phenomenal server!

Great selections and variety on the menu. We got great service. We had one regular pepperoni pizza and one more exotic one and both were excellent. The dessert raspberry cream cheese egg rolls were an awesome ending to the meal. Recommended.

Great food! Service was great! We will most definitely be back. Not the traditional pizza joint that year accustomed to. Side note, the egg rolls are excellent! We tried the Iowa pizza and it was really very good.

I had lunch there today with my wife. To start off, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I liked the various posters on the walls.

They were out of pot stickers, so we had the mozzarella sticks. They were normal cheese sticks only they were wrapped in egg roll dough rather the breaded. I must say, I like them better this way.

We had the Fongolian pizza. Ordering it, I wasn't sure what to think about putting cheese on what is pretty much an Asian dish. It works. It was basically Mongolian beef on a giant egg roll as a pizza. The sauce was not overly sweet. We enjoyed it. We will return.

You can't go wrong at Fong's. This asian fusion pizza place is a local favorite for a reason! Somehow pizza and classic Chinese dishes seem like a natural pair at Fong's.

Pizzas can be on the spicy side of mild so please be mindful of what you order if you prefer your food to have zero spicy heat.

Also, most of their pizza menu is already gluten free or can be adapted to be gluten free.

An interesting combo. I would never have thought of putting the favorite Asian food on a pizza. I was skeptical, and as it turns out pleasantly surprised. The combination is to say the least unexpected, yet quite good.

Combine the food with the good service and all is good. I will definitely be back.

Also a nice selection of cocktails and beer.

I bought a gift card online for my son's girlfriend for her birthday. They ended up sending me one as well due to their liking my email address. Their food is always delightful! Our waitress today was on top of everything! And we had to have a couple of Tiki Drinks! We all love going there!!

My 2nd visit to Fong's and it was just as delicious as the first. You have to try the General Tso's pizza and the Dragon Balls!

The staff are friendly and helpful if you're having hard time making decisions. And don't forget to try one of the beers on tap to help wash down your pie.

It's amazing. Go here. One of Iowa's top places to go. Try something new. Oh, wait. It's closing now. It's going to close in two weeks. Thanks, Ankeny! You guys have chased out Zombie Burger, and NOW Fongs...

Came here for a father's day lunch and certainly did not regret it. The wait staff is excellent, the food is amazing, and the time to eat is very quick. Would highly recommend this place!

Pretty cool place! Had heard about it from media and friends. Wasn't too busy for a late Saturday afternoon but it really picked up. Huge selection of beer. There should be something for everyone. Pizza was really good. In my opinion the Mac & Cheese pizza was best! They said the Crab Rangoon was the most popular. Will try that the next time we go. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. They didn't mind that part of our party was late. They even changed the channel to a game we wanted to see. Great place! Definitely going back!

🥖We ordered the parmesan bites for an appetizer and you get this massive pile of 1/2" to 1" "bites." I would describe them little dough chunks that are deep fried and covered in a sprinkling of melted parmesan. They were okay, but it is just kind of a heavy appetizer as it the dough was thick- unlike when you order breadsticks or bread bites from another pizza joint and they are light/airy/fluffy.

🍕We also had the Crab Rangoon Pizza, obviously. Very tasty! I worried that the crunchy Rangoon pieces on top would not warm up well for leftovers at home, but it was still just as good! It didn't get soggy as I had worried.

🍕The last pizza we ordered was the street taco pizza. We like cilantro, and this pizza had just the right amount!

The crust here is THIN. There is honey at the tables, try putting some honey on the crust when you have gotten down past the rest of the slice. 🍯🐝

The pizzas we're SUPER CHEESEY. 🧀 Nobody can complain about that, right?

Fong’s always has great food. They’re consistent and I would consider the establishment “An Iowa Staple”. I wanted to mention too that as my mom and I were sat down for dinner tonight, we noticed it was taking longer than normal for the waiter/waitress to see us. As we noticed (maybe after a total of 10 minutes or so), someone stopped by apologizing that we had been missed. We had no problem with the wait, just noticed it had taken a little longer than normal. They offered us a free appetizer and continued apologizing for the mix up. I just have to applaud the staff. That is the kind of “Iowa Nice” customer service that will keep
me coming back for years and years to come. If you haven’t tried this unique dining experience, I would very highly recommend it, especially they’re staple, the Crab Rangoon pizza. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fong's is great. The original Des Moines location has more interesting ambiance, but this one has now seating, and it's the same great menu. They have a really good beer selection, both bottle and on tap, but you have to check out the tiki drinks, they are so fun! I loved the Chinese cheese sticks, and they are well known for their crab Rangoon pizza.
