I celebrated my birthday here and it was awesome! The sushi and omakase were amazing. Every piece of sushi was fresh and delicious, and the chef made each dish look really cool. The omakase experience was great because each dish was a surprise and tasted so good.

The best part was how fun the night was, thanks to Co and the staff. Co was super funny and made everyone feel happy. He did quizzes, told jokes, and even had karaoke. It was the best birthday because of how Co and the team treated us. They were really nice and made sure we all had a good time.

I loved the food and how fun the night was. I want to say a big thank you to everyone there. If you like good sushi and a fun time, you should definitely go here.

My fiancé and I had an Amazing Omakase dinner here for my birthday. All of the ingredients were high quality and the taste was to die for. We did the 15 courses and it was worth it. Our server Co was awesome. He made sure my birthday was special and there was trivia at the end, which was super fun. Definitely a dope spot to check out when you’re in the city. 10/10 will be back.

Tried a lot of other omakase restaurants in NYC with a wide range of prices and Sushi Lab is among the best. The otoro was one of the best pieces of fish I’ve had to date and would return to Sushi Lab just to have it a second time. The staff are friendly and attentive and the chefs are knowledgeable about each piece being prepared.

This place is a full *experience* with a fun vibe. Don’t come for a boring, quiet omakase. Chat with the Maître D. Buy the chefs some sake. And if you’re lucky like we were, you’ll get a chance to do trivia while you eat and finish your experience with karaoke and a dance party! This place is fab, the food was delicious, and the staff were amazing. Strongly recommend.

This is my favorite sushi experience in the city (and I have been to many). The diversity of dishes is incredible at this price point. The service is stellar. Every time I’ve been, the wait staff has given out free shots of sake to the entire sushi counter. And then, for my mom’s birthday, the waiter and chef overheard my mom talking about how much she enjoyed one of the courses and they brought out an extra for her. That’s above and beyond.

The entire vibe is intimate and cozy—it’s the omakase experience you hope for when you go out for a nice meal.

This place is very special to me. I look forward to many more meals to come.

Loved the creativity of this place! Even better is the host was interactive during the omakase. The quality of fish is high and each bit was heaven.

Great quality omakase for a great price. The location of this restaurant is much more convenient compared to the one in Midtown. Staff provided wonderful service from beginning to end. Will definitely be back soon.

Really fun environment and the sushi bar experience is a ton of fun. The chefs are great to watch execute their craft, they’ll make friendly small talk, and the host is very accommodating and friendly. The impromptu trivia and group karaoke was a welcome surprise. The food was new, interesting, unique, and very tasty!

I went with my mother to celebrate my birthday and it was the best decision. Col made the experience spectacular.

The small space allowed the host and the chef to have a more personal connection with me and my mom. For 100 dollars it was an absolute steal. The taste and quality of the fish was amazing, and the attentiveness of col was on par. They played trivia and gave out free sake to the winners, hands down best sushi experience yet.

On a quest to try every under $150 omakase in NYC.
Sushi Lab gets 8/10.
A lot of cheaper Omakase places misuse fancy-sounding ingredients like truffles and gold flakes to appear more valuable. Most of the time, they make me feel sorry for the fish. Sushi Lab came correct. There were no gold flakes and the fresh truffle mushroom paired with scallop was surprisingly delicious. The rest faired just as good. The texture of every piece melted on my tongue into waves of oceanic pleasure. And unlike most places that charge less than $100 for the experience, this didn't feel rushed.

A must go and a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! High quality Omakase with incredibly attentive and kind service at the perfect price point. Refined. Have been here twice for the tasting menu and I cannot wait to go back.

I’ve tried a lot of omakaze places in NYC & I keep coming back to Sushi Lab EV. It has the best host, best chef, & most consistently high quality & creative sushi. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! 😋

I first tried the Chef's selection and then went back for the Lab Experience 2 weeks later. I'm an omakase addict and have tried a wide range (Sushi Noz, Nakazawa, Shin East, Tanoshi, Sushi Zo, Suite 1001, Yasuda, Ushiwakamuri, Sushi on Jones, Sushi on Me, etc.) Sushi lab is by far a stand out, esp for the price, and I'm looking forward to frequenting regularly. It offers buttery pieces at such an amazing value and a really fun experience. When in doubt, get the Lab Experience.

This place is fantastic! The service is spectacular and the sushi chef talked us through each course of their special Christmas omakase. I delighted in every bite. The way that they pair together flavors is intriguing and delicious. Very creative combinations (one course used a tempura oyster in place of the rice in the nigiri!) Very flavorful. Fresh ingredients. Great sake selection. We will definitely be back.

Yum! Best value for top tier sushi quality in the city. One of the few spots in the city worth coming regularly to.

Decided to try something new on Resy on a normal Tuesday night. And boy are we glad we did. We went with the 15 piece $100 omakase.

Food (5/5): unique takes on various sushi pieces. All were quite good but a few standouts - hokkaido uni & crab, kanpachi, and toro tatare with ikura & bread

Drinks: got a spritz and a green tea. Was good but not notable.

Service (5/5): chef and our server Co were friendly, thoughtful in explaining each piece and overall made for a wonderful experience.

Ambiance (4.5/5): reminds me of modern apartment kitchen with a nice sushi counter

Excited to try the new Sushi Lab east village location, after one of my favorite omakase experiences at Chemistry Room last year. I was pleasantly surprised to see Chef Frankie here, as he was the head chef at Chemistry Room as well. They have 2 options, 15 piece omakase for $100 or 10 piece for $65. We opted for the 15 piece of course and it was really good, and didn't need any extras at the end as it was pretty filling. Each piece was unique and delicious, and it was hard to pick a favorite because every piece was so tasty! Would def come back again!

Very cute little, but spacious, restaurant. Very clean.

The service is very friendly and attentive.

The Omakase (we had the 15 course experiment) and as amazingly delicious, high quality, and inexpensive ($100 for 15 course Omakase is usually $200-$300/person).

This is a must do experience!

I’d rate this place 4.5 stars if I could, but I’ll round up since they have very few reviews so far.

The Food:

Really excellent sushi from an inventive Omakase menu ($100), with high quality fish and stellar presentation. Each piece became my new favorite before they brought out something even better. Standout was the seared tuna with truffle flakes.

The Environment:

Left something to be desired. Intimate space and good service, but the bright fluorescent lighting threw me off. Should be easy to improve.
