Horton Animal Hospital-Central

I’ve come here twice for my older cat, Ester. The first time was just to establish care and get her up to date on vaccines. The reception desk, techs, and vet were all so kind to me and my cat and took time to answer questions and concerns I had. They were also conscious and understanding that I’m a student with limited funds and were up front about costs. The second time I went was last week and my cat was really sick (pooping everywhere, poop in blood, lethargic). They talked with me with their concerns, gave her a diagnosis, and altered her diet within an hour. Within two days she was brand new and better than before. I am so thankful for this amazing staff.

Dr. Hussey is an excellent veterinarian, and the office staff is friendly and professional. She has given me honest, helpful advice for all my pets over the years. Dr. Hussey has a genuine talent for really listening and putting things in perspective. She has even taken the time to call and check on my big guy after surgery. Dr. Hussey is amazing, and I am lucky to have her as my vet.

After 8 years of taking my toy poodle to R Veterinary I finally got tired of the ever changing veterinarians, the new unfriendly staff and the price hikes (I was quoted $500+ to $800+ for her most recent dental). I know pricing on everything has increased, but my dog has been getting annual dentals at this clinic for 8 years and I have NEVER paid that much.
A few of my friends take their dogs to Horton, so I decided to start taking mine there too. We had our first appointment last Saturday and my only regret is that I didn’t make the switch sooner!
Dr. Hussey is friendly and very knowledgeable. I really appreciate that she takes time to explain things thoroughly and provide you with all of your options. She even recommended a medication that can help heal my dog’s heart, that our last vet never mentioned. The entire staff is friendly and the clinic is exceptionally clean.
Additionally, I want to say that their pricing is extremely fair! Princess had her dental yesterday and I paid hundreds less than I was quoted at our previous vet.
If I could give Horton Animal Hospital 10 ⭐, I would!

We were newer to Columbia and hadn't gotten a vet yet when another animal hospital recommended Horton. Our dog (15+ years old) was having seizures and we knew the time had come. The vet was very kind & gave up her lunch to put our dog at peace. The staff was very nice and compassionate.

Dr. Hussey is wonderful. She took care of our cat, offered suggestions, and even called two weeks later after the antibiotics would be over to see how Cat was doing. I love Dr. Hussey!

Best vet around. Columbia has some decent vets, so this says a lot. I have used Dr. Hussey for years for both veterinary services and boarding.

I’ve been taking my dog Leeroy here since I moved to CoMo in 2016. Recently he needed surgery to remove some growths and they did a great job! He was fully recovered 2 weeks later and was no longer irritated by his growths. The staff was very responsive to my questions post-surgery and the surgery itself was reasonably priced.

I went to this Vet many years ago when I last lived in Columbia. Took my new pup there and the staff and Doctor couldn't have been nicer and professional.

We switched to Horton’s from another top rated vet in Columbia because they were slammed every time we were there and the vets never seemed like they had the time to really talk with. Since switching we have had one dog pass but currently have our cat and a new puppy there. For years they have always been nothing but kind, compassionate and professional! They always have time to answer questions and talk on the phone. They genuinely care for our pets and ask how they are. Our older dog who passed had a lot of issues in the end and when taking her in they would ask how she was and really seemed to care. We love going here! Wouldn’t want them to see anyone else.

I've come here to see Dr. Hussey for about 8 years now. She always makes time for us and and will call to check in. She is never pushy about medications and will always tell you all your options and if she feels it is necessary or not. No matter how busy she is she always makes time for us. I cannot recommend her enough!

I've been bringing my cats here for about 15 years and always a good experience. The docs listen and ask intelligent questions. The staff are always friendly and helpful. When I've lost a loved pet they have been very supportive. There is a solid reason they are on my Christmas gift list!

Horton Animal Hospital came recommended from another local vet who isn't taking new clients. Hortons was great with my 15 week old kitten, Prada. They were super sweet and gentle in caring for him. They set up my next appointment for his neutering and explained everything to me in general conversation. I feel confident in raising a kitten and I have great confidence in Horton Animal Hospital. I would also like to mention that the price I paid was a lot less than I had anticipated. So double bonus for me and my wallet. Now I can buy more things for Prada. If you need a great vet with a great staff, do you and your pet a favor and make an appointment with the fine folks at Horton Animal Hospital.

Great experience! The doctor explained everything very clearly and answered all the questions I had patiently. And the staff was polite. I had to wait outside as they were only taking the pets inside due to Covid. But overall pleasant experience. Though my cat would rate it otherwise.

We have been going to Horton's for over 15 years and have had wonderful care for our pets. We recently had an emergency with our new puppy and Dr. Hussey was absolutely fabulous. She kept us updated on her condition and thoroughly explained all the care options. Dr. Hussey has excellent communication skills and her care and love are very evident.

Have gone to Dr. Hussey since I moved to Columbia, for each of our pets and she is wonderful. She is so informative and helpful. She is our primary care Vet. I did take my dog to Dr. Marshall at the Northeast clinic for a pretty extensive surgery and she too was Great. (Dr. Hussey recommended Dr. Marshall for this particular procedure.) I also have boarded our dog at that Northeast clinic and was very happy to get her back all nice and clean after several days. Super staff at both clinics! FIVE STARS!

My miniature poodle was having trouble eating and he was getting rather lifeless. At 14 years old we thought maybe he was getting near the end. We took him to Horton and asked the veterinarian if she thought his teeth were giving him trouble. She took a look and said that his teeth were in pretty rough shape and offered to have him come in to get them cleaned and have some of them pulled. She said that old dogs can get a lot more lively If their teeth are healthy.

We set an appointment and took him back about 10 days later to have the teeth worked on. This turned out to be an excellent decision and an excellent recommendation. Following a short recovery, Little Jojo became much more lively and now he’s dancing around the house almost like when he was a puppy. We are so pleased with the care given by Horton animal clinic.

Horton Central has been providing routine and not-so-routine care for our dogs and cats for many years, and I have always known that they were receiving excellent care. I always feel as though the vets and staff are really listening to our concerns and observations about our "kids".

I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a vet.

I have brought my pets here for years and always feel like they are well taken care of. The prices are not always as cheap as I'd like but I have never done much shopping around because I value the care and attention that both me and my pets are given here. We see Dr. Leubbering and she is fantastic! Always has the answers to what is going on and is great with letting us know what is necessary and what is not. I would recommend Dr. Leubbering to anyone!!!

They were efficient and kind and reasonably priced. We just moved to town and found our new vet, definitely recommend.
