KD's Books

My Mom and I wound up coming here because we were trying out a local cafe and I happened to notice that there was a local book store across the tracks from where we were. I am so glad that we decided to head over there and have a look around. From the moment we stepped foot in KD's, we had the most wonderful experience. From the book selection to the stickers they sold we were hooked. They have wonderful mugs and bookmarks that I haven't seen other places. This place also hosts a bunch of book clubs for various genres. They have events for the kiddos and adults alike. They also do this really neat thing where they have "mystery" books. Books that are covered up, the only things know are the genre and a brief bullet point vague description of the book. I didn't buy one yet, but rest assured that I was extremely tempted and that I will be purchasing a "mystery" book, in the literary fiction section, in the near future. This has become one of two places that I really look forward to for my book purchasing needs. Highly recommended for others that identify as book nerds, book worms, library aficionadas, and all around love the book culture.

The ladies at KDs books are outstanding! They were in the middle of moving the whole store around when I went in with my grandparents to find a large print bible for my grandma. They were very helpful, and ordered one for us as they didn’t have it in stock at that time. We had questions about children’s bibles and they took the time to help us out and look up details on each one that they had. They also took a minute to get to know us and recommended a few things for my autistic kiddo and myself. If you’re in need of a book and want to shop local, check them out! You won’t regret it. They can order a book if they don’t have it in stock as well. Plus, convenient location and few shops down from my favorite coffee shop in Lee’s Summit (Whistle Stop) makes it perfect for someone who wants to curl up with a delicious drink and a good book.

We were in today to buy gifts and one of the amazing sales people who was a former teacher was very kind. She took the time to talk with us and recommended an amazing gift for our family!

We love KD’s! We recently did their stuffed animal sleepover and it was so great. My kids felt loved. Our family loves coming here and always appreciates their love of all books.

KD's Books is the cutest book store and a must-visit gem in downtown Lee's Summit. My daughter, and any friends in tow, always want to stop in, and rarely leave empty-handed. Books, gifts, and gift cards are a great idea for birthday gifts...especially for kids' parties when you're scrambling for the perfect gift on the way to said party. :) The owners and employees have great customer service and are so thoughtful in how they arrange and decorate the shop.

I visited this store while staying with my sister at Thanksgiving. It's so cute! There is a wide variety of books and gifts for kids of all ages. My oldest found a couple of books they had been looking for and gifts for their brother.

The owners were so friendly and helpful. I'll definitely visit again next time I'm in town.

We love this bookstore! Sometimes we just wander in and enjoy the lovely energy in the store. Last time we were in, my husband bought me some super cute socks, of all things! I love this place! And my new socks.

KD’s has always supported children in our community with their generosity. It’s a great local bookseller who is always willing to help and will order in books at your request. I love supporting this local woman-owned business. It certainly is one of the best things in downtown Lee’s Summit.

This local bookstore has been around “forever” and I’m so happy it still is. It has the poplar and new books for adults. Plus it has unique children’s toys and books, but also the favorites we all remember and love. It’s my favorite place find things for my friends children.

My kids (and myself) love this local indie bookstore. There’s nothing quite like a small bookstore and KD’s is at the top of my list. We’ll forever buy from them and love the customer service & kindness when you walk through the door.

When I heard we had a local children’s bookstore I literally strapped my kids in the car and we drove off to see if it was true. When I stepped in I felt like I was at the Shop Around the Corner from the movie You’ve Got Mail. The staff are friendly and helpful, and my kids love going and looking at all the treasures. So grateful for this store.

This place is great! Good selection of children books and they even have story time for the kids. Really cool independent book store and local small business.

I love KD’s Books! There is such a great feel when you enter the store! Books, toys- even items made by a Ukrainian company supporting that country! You can shop for every age of “kid” from babies to adult so I’m either finding gifts for my great nephew or other family members….. or something for my pre-school sunday school class and even things for me and it’s right across from the train tracks so I often see and hear the trains go by!

KD’s has been a beloved business in Downtown Lee’s Summit for years, and for good reason. Every visit to this bookstore is a wonderful experience with friendly, knowledge staff and a great variety of books and unique gifts. DTLS wouldn’t be the same without it!

Wonderful place for children's books. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and had great suggestions for books I hadn't heard of. We will definitely come back!
