This is a good stop for the family. We got the Mark Twain chicken and some catfish tacos. Also, there’s a board game shop with some other souvenirs. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was good.

Really nice diner I wish we had. Everything tasted great. We enjoyed fried tomato bites. Very reasonable pricing. Fish was good and they make those Maid Rite ground beef sandwiches. Very good too.

Really cool place! Surprisingly good food. We all had sandwiches and fries, and they were excellent! The restaurant was also very clean, including the restrooms! A must go when in Hannibal! Mark Twain would eat here if alive 😊.

Fun place to eat when in Hannibal! They have an awesome game shop to look at while waiting to get a seat! The food was very tasty and they make their own root beer! Very clean and well decorated also! The menu has a lot of selections and we tried a burger and tenderloin. No one walked away hungry! Thank you!

We ordered root beer, Philly cheese steak sandwich, loaded green beans, dinette burger plain, fries and pickle fries. Everything was good. Our server was Jarren, he was great.

We were on our way back from Chicago and stopped here for lunch. Out of 5 plates, 4 were outstanding. The shrimp Mac-n-cheese was jusr not for us. The gift shop was really cool with collectors game sets, coffee mugs, pet treats and apparel. The prices were reasonable throughout.

For all that is holy do not order the fried chicken here! You will never be able to eat it anywhere else ever again. If I lived in Hannibal, MO I would weigh a lot more. The fried chicken was absolutely FANTASTIC! I think it might be the best fried chicken I have ever had. My wife let me taste her rootbeer. Holy cow! Another absolute homerun. Everyone goes to Hannibal for Mark Twain. The real reason go for the Dinette!

We ate here two times on this trip. The venue is next door to Mark Twain’s Home. The venue is clean and comfortable. The waitresses and waiter are busy but take good care of the customers. There is a gift shop here too.
By the way, my grandmother’s house was on the other side, so I have been eating here for decades. The unsinkable Moly Brown’s house is just a few blocks away.

The Maid-rite horseshoe with homemade Root beer was great.

We were driving through Hannibal and got hungry! We placed a to go order, and the person who brought our order out was so friendly. They were kind and helpful.
I wanted my husband to try a Maid-Rite, so that was the reason we stopped by! I ordered it greasy and with cheese, and he complained about it being greasy. Ha! That is my fault, not the restaurant's. He did like everything else about it.
The milkshakes were fantastic. I ordered a Huckleberry shake, and he got a chocolate malt. We were both pleased. I ordered the vegan chicken tenders, and I hated them. Again, this is not the restaurant's fault, the brand that makes them usually has great food, but these were a miss for me! They were way too hard, chewy, and flavorless!
My favorite thing was definitely the onion rings with chili ranch dipping sauce. So good!

We took six grandkids and two adults. They have a gift shop, and of course, the kids had to have something. Prices are very reasonable.

I highly recommend the root beer. It's made on-site and delicious. Onion rings, chicken, and chicken strips with french fries. 😋 3 boxes of leftovers. We warmed up the next day for brunch.

Ate here twice for lunch over the few days we were in Hannibal. The maid-rite sandwiches were really good and just like any you’ll get in Iowa. The onion rings were amazing! And the root beer was some of the best home made root beer I’ve had.
The interior could use a little spruce up but it’s nothing to complain about.
We’ll be back!

The restaurant was clean and cozy. You'll go in looking for your favorite dish but can't help shopping at different stands with trinkets, puzzles, games and toys.
FYI - the food was hot, flavorful and delicious.
You'll find this jewel tucked away at the bottom of the hill next to a gentle body of water.

We came to Hannibal to check out the Mark Twain Museum. One of the ladies that worked there recommended the diner for lunch. It was great. We ordered the pickle fries (as an app)
Ol’ Portobello burger, Dinette horseshoe, Tenderloin, Steampunk burger, onion rings, & chocolate milkshake. We were all super pleased with our selections. The portobello burger was one of their veggie selections; they have gluten free and vegan options in the menu too. Their menu has lots options for the whole family to enjoy. The waitress brought all four of us their homemade root beer to sample and it was delicious! If you like root beer, this will be a special treat for you. Everyone was attentive and sweet, so we will def be back!

This was an incredible diner! The service was exceptional and the food was delectable! I am planning to visit in the fall. It was a wonderful experience, I can't wait to try more from the menu, my kids are 10 years apart, and they both loved it!

This was a quintessential stop for lunch in the historic Mississippi River Town of Hannibal, Missouri. A mainstay restaurant known for their Maid-Rite sandwiches, Southern Fried Chicken (25 minutes), homemade root beer, and beer-battered onion rings. A pleasant dining space with charm and character. The food was delicious and plated nicely. Service was excellent with a smile!

Fantastic! This is a really great restaurant. The in house made root beer is really good. The food was excellent. The maid rites had great flavor. Big portions too. Figure $12 a person. Give them a try.

I am dairy and gluten-free due to an autoimmune disease. I have not had fried mushrooms or a bun for a burger that was that good since going gluten-free. It was awesome and we will absolutely go back

I'm a Hannibal native who hasn't been to the Dinette in years. I went last week and was very pleased with the experience. The dining area has been remodeled and feels much more like a cozy diner. Part of the old dining area is now a very tasteful board game/gift shop. The food was also very tasty and well presented. The staff was friendly and attentive. I used to avoid the Dinette but it's now on the list of Hannibal restaurants I'll return to!
