P.J. Sweeney's Restaurant & Irish Pub

My sister and I had our parent's 50th Anniversary party here and it was above and beyond our expectations! The room where the party was had plenty of room for our approximately 50 guests. The staff was extremely accomodating to our requests for assistance with hanging up a big banner and allowing us the freedom to basically decorate as we chose.
Everyone loved the food! My parents are extremely picky and selective when it comes to the quality of food and both of them absolutely enjoyed it. We had mixed salad, penne w/vodka, chicken francaise, and fish and chips. They allow you to bring home any food leftover...but we didn't have to since it was pretty much all gone! We were also allowed to bring our own cake which they sliced and brought back out for us. The party was on a Sunday afternoon, and I had no idea that there would also be live music. The live music was perfect for the occasion and the general demographic of the party as well! We even started dancing in the extra space we had in the party room.
Overall, from reserving the place, to working with management on the meal, to the service at the party itself, everything was absolutely top notch. If you want to have a party for about 50 people, I would highly recommend this place!

Sweeney's is a great Irish pub! The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is very good, and there are plenty of options. There are tons of drink choices and plenty of beers on tap. Definitely would highly recommend. We'll be back for sure.

Very accommodating - all staff. Braised short ribs were excellent as was the French onion soup. Open faced Reuben was plenty, but a bit dry. Bread pudding was excellent. Worth going.

It appears that this is THE Irish pub for/in Ocean County. Friendly and informative wait staff, great selection of beer and spirits and a great menu based around classic Irish cuisine. The pub has a comfortable warm feel to it and it's certainly gets lively during sporting events and most definitely for the Willie Lynch band. Recent decor updates feature flags and scarves involving Liverpool Football Club and Sweeney's hosts matches for fans of the club. Definitely will return.

Food is excellent really enjoyed my wife got Shepard pie I got short ribs also had honey bbq wings and chili all out of this world our waitress ally was also excellent

My husband and I came in for an early dinner. I food is excellent, only thing we would change is the corned beef egg rolls, instead of grinding it up roll up thin slices of corned beef and cabbage and it would rock!!🍀

We took our girlfriend there for her 42nd birthday and it was Irish Christmas!!!! The band was amazing the people were amazing the staff was amazing!!!!
What a wonderful time we had!!!
Can't wait to go back and see them!!! The band will be there New Year's Eve 5:00!!!

Place is amazing and truly authentic Irish cuisine made to perfection. The Sheppards pie was very good and tasty. And the open face Ruben was the best I had around Monmouth and ocean county. I highly recommend coming here you won't be disappointed.

Everything was great. Cold draft beer, sliders for dinner from the football season special menu. Value pricing with plus accommodation and service. Live band was an unexpected added bonus earlier in the evening.

Didn't know what else to do so my friend and I went here and had a good time. Great food to go with live music. The cheesecake is great I definitely recommend getting some. The host and waitress were both extremely nice as well. I'll be visiting again soon.

Went here for a baby shower and had a wonderful experience. Not only was the food great, but the staff was incredibly attentive and fast. I would love to go there and sit down for dinner anytime.

Came here when they first opened, and loved them! Had a great experience the first time and was very optimistic for round two. Went back a few months later, and was horrified. Portions and quality really seemed to plummet. Had to give them another shot, and was still disappointed, so wrote them off.
Just went back again after a few year hiatus, and OMG, I am so happy I did.
Their braised beef was astounding! Melty, delicious, and I would've been happy if it was the last thing I ate before keeling over.
Their potatoes and fresh veggies on the side were simple, vibrant, crisp (the veggies, anyway), and delicious! Their onion soup with Guinness was a perfect way to start the meal.
They have absolutely redeemed themselves in my eyes. Maybe they just had two bad days a few years ago, and I've been missing out all this time, who knows?
What I do know is I'll be back, and I can't wait!

We got there a little late but they were happy to serve us and the service was excellent. Very exotic beers on tap. The plates were large and filling. Our server was very nice and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean and roomy.

My sister and I FINALLY got to go here. Not sure what took us so long, but it was worth it. We had the potato pancakes and pirogies appetizers, followed by Shepards pie. Just fabulous! Our server was attentive and pleasant and food came at a good pace, all of which could ruin a dining experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice Irish pub. Blarney rolls were good. Nice balance of meat and potatoes. Had the potato leek soup which was delicious 😋! And the Guinness was good. What else do you need! I'll definitely go back when in the area.

We held a celebration of life dinner from my mother who passed away. We had a much larger turn out than expected. The staff of Sweenies went out over their way to accommodate us. They did a great job, the food was wonderful. I highly recommend them for your banquet needs, or just a great place to have dinner.
